1. What do you do in an average year in the Royal Marines? This is one of those jobs that every day can be different. the answer to this question is hard it 100% depends on what trade you are and even what unit you are at. 2. How often do you go abroad? Like the question above there is no set amount of time you will go away there are so many factors that will dictate how much and when you go aw...

In this video I've answered a few of the most common questions that I get asked on a daily basis. 1. What's the lifestyle like in the Marines? A hard question to answer really! like all the military adverts say everyday is different, it all depends what is going on in the world or your units training program. 2. Will I specialize after training? YES! Most people will specialize after 18 months ...

I'm back with another short video on some questions that i have been asked and commonly asked when talking to potential marines. There is lots of information out there on how to get fit for the royal marines commandos but not so much about once you have passed your PMRC (potential royal marines course) and are ready to start training. if you like the video please give it a thumbs up and leave a...

massive respect man....standing up and being an inspiration and role model. thanks so much for your service.
Do you need to be PRMC fit before you start your application?
no but it is recommended
What are the royal marine commandos up to now ?
I'm 26 and kinda regretting my decision to stay on civi street. Life's pretty boring when you live it normal at the end of the day and I really want to have a job with a purpose and life with a bit of meaning doing something important and challenge myself with marine training, opposed to 9-5 all day everyday. However I have a house and a wife and was thinking more about going into the reserves as 15grand a year would crumble me 🤣 any info on the reserves such as How much time do you commit ? Is it the same training ? Can you deploy with full time marines ? Any info would be great Thanks for the great content

The largest commitment is for the training it's pretty much one weekend a month for a year and a half and one evening during the week for a couple of hours. After that they like you to do at least 28 days a year but it dosnt all have to be in one go. Yes you can go away with the regular marines on deployments abroad or on exercises in the UK.
Quick question, I recently got bad symptoms of shin splints and haven’t been running for the last 3 weeks to rest and ensure I recover before it gets too bad and I know I shouldn’t lie on the medical questionnaire but I really don’t want to be TMU due to having a ‘lower limb’ injury as I will be more than physically ready by the time I start training until after I’ve done my A level exams in a years time and a quarter, do you think I should still mention it in my interview??
Have you been to the doctor about it? If not then I wouldn't bother. You just need to makes sure your 100% better before starting training as you will end up in Hunter fairly quickly if you go down there with an injury.
Is there much opportunity to pursue other qualifications in the marines? One of the things putting me off applying is that when I leave the marines I'll have no decent qualifications or trades so i won't be able to find work
Most of the trades you will get recognised qualifications for some like signals you can do up to degree level. Each each year you also get learning credits which is money towards any courses that you want to do. There is also options to re do maths or English gcse's if you didn't get above a c and also options to do a levels if you want to. I'm currently working with a corporal who will be doing a mental health degree whilst still in the marines. You have to be pro active with it tho as no one will force you to do anything. A lot of the time people that say they left with nothing are the ones who sat in their rooms every night playing COD.
@@gay_commando1611 thanks
is this guy a former Royal marine or just a rubber dagger playing at being a bootneck
Bit of both but currently serving.
I'm not sure if you realise but the majority of royal marine reservists are actually people who have left full time service.
@SuperVHSchannel correct. 😄🤣
hey mate, don’t know if you will see this but I an increasingly concerned about the NSRT, as I am terrible at Maths, any suggestions?
There are a practice one on the navy website. Just type it in to Google and the link to it should be on there. Bbc bitesize revision is a good way to start. I'm terrible at maths and I passed it.
@@gay_commando1611 Thanks mate!
@@gay_commando1611 Sorry to ask again, but do you know if a lot of Mountain Leaders get into SBS? And can you be a Mountain Leader in 43/47 Commando. Cheers man 👍
@@observer3468 not a lot of MLs do they normally chose ML over sbs. They normally call ML married man's sf becuse you generally don't go away much. There might be an option to go to 43 or 47 but not much. 47 will mostly be landing craft and 43 gd.
@@gay_commando1611 Ok, appreciate it man and thank you for your service.
What you do behind the bedroom door excuse the punn! Is your own business. Just cause ya gay don't stop ya doing the job! If ya on the hunt in ya own time ya know we're to go with out any problems to other boot necks! And at the end of the day who's sex life is bought in to the work place ! If you earnt ya green frisbee ya can do the job! Just cause ya gay don't make ya weak ! You've done more than most heroes so good for you good look I wish safe on any missions
Is it true that the lads have to sleep naked during basic or is it at the discretion of the training team?
A lot of the stuff on that show is for entertainment. You occasionally get a mental drill leader that will tell you to sleep naked but it will proberly only be for the first 2 weeks if atall. I mean if you want to go in the marines there a lot bigger things to be thinking about than sleeping naked. Plus now there are females in training its very unlikely you will have to any more.
@@gay_commando1611 That's reassuring! Boxers and topless is the norm for me, assume that would be acceptable then.

How's the morale in the RM and RMR currently? Especially with tours winding down, RMs getting pinged for jobs they don't want to do. Would like to hear your thoughts on it!
Thanks for your Q&As - they're very informative and to the point. Couple of question which I hope you may be able to answer: 1) Women joining the Marines: What do you and other current Marines think? 2) Could you share more of your 'coming out' experience/being gay in the RMs?
Hi, what is the eyesight requirement for royal marine.
If you google it there is a pdf with all the medical guidelines to join the narines and navy.
Could I join as a trans Muslim guy? Gone through all my surgeries..
no reason why not.
Can you do a more in depth video on the RMR? Cheers
Just stumbled across this channel and think it’s hoofing what you’re doing. We had a gay guy in in our troop at 40 and nobody treated him any different.
I think its because generally more educated people are more accepting and open minded, That's the difference between the marines and the army. haha
That stache fits you alot, keep it ;)
Lookin at joining rm in the next 2 Yrs do u have do a specialism or can you spend your career as a riflemen?
You will have to chose a specialisation or one will be chosen for you.
What branch did you go Into after your basic training?
I was general duties for a couple of years then went in to the drives branch.
@@gay_commando1611 with you being a gay marine. Did this put strain on your relationship or even to start a relationship with someone if I may ask?
@@joshjjm7406 I was single when I went through training. I found that good as I could put all my efforts in to training. A lot of people go in to training married and with kids which isnt a problem but it helps a lot that your partner and family know what your going through and you wont be able to ring and messages all the time.
Hi I was just wondering if you are still able to join if you have anxiety
If your not taking any medication for it then yes however if it's bad you proberly wont make it through training.
Mate this helped so much cheers!!!
If your at a age of 17-18 is harder during training?
It's not harder the only disadvantages some people have at that age is not having spent a lot of time away from home possible but other than that it's no harder. The most common reason why there arnt as many younger people is the 65kg minimum weight.
Gay_ commando okay Thanks
Gay_ commando can 100% agree on that as it is why my applications been put on hold
I went in at 17 and due to being stupidly young i nearly snapped my femur because i hadn't fully developed yet, of course this wont happen to many people but you have a higher chance of being hunter'd from 16 to 19.
Lots of guys joined just over 16 and a few had injuries but these were the normal injuries that everyone else had..
What's your view on Army Commandos?
Good bunch. They still have to earn their green lids. 😁
Are you RM or RMR? Out of curiosity.
Rmr now.
@@gay_commando1611 Ah cool. I'm ex 45 commando, 747 troop. Fair play to pal.
This is really helpful! Thank you, keep up the videos
Really great video. Thanks!! 👍👍
What is the difference between 40-42-43 and 45 Commando?
They are all commando units they just have slightly different roles.
@@gay_commando1611 what are those roles?
Great video, really informative!
If you're specialisation is a driver, in a war zone would you still do the fighting or be a driver still? As in would you be on the front lines basically
You will do both. As a marine your infantry first and foremost.
You would be a driver. That's it
How often would you go on operations?
It all depends on what job your doing what unit your at and whats going on in the world.
@@gay_commando1611 How often would you go on operations as a normal marine at this current time?
@@gay_commando1611 I just don't want to join and sit in the base all day
@@MaxGamesMega you wont. the royal marines do more than just operations.
@@MaxGamesMega there are loads of variables. the royal navy are conducting operations and exercises around the world 365 days a year. it all depends where you are based and things like that. you will never be on operations 100% of the time.
Would you mind doing a video on more of the day to day life of a Royal Marine Commando. Wanting to get a bit more of an insight. Thank you.
It's difficult as every Day is different and every unit is different.
Great video. Im actually training myself for the PRMC. I have a PT who unfortunatly got to the last week of training and ended up getting very ill. Im 26 at the moment and turning 27 in september so so striving to get in shape by Sept19' Hope to be seeing you then!
How did you get on?
I can confirm number 3 and this happens in every force. Basic training is always the hardest part, that is when you are broken and then made into forces. Trade training is easier and less rigid but you still get some of the shit. As soon as you pass out 100% most of the forces are chilled, some are still arseholes though. You would be able to tell the arseholes straight away, if you are a lower rank and they are an NCO if they still wanted to be called CPL, SGT etc they were the arseholes. I used to call 90% of my superiors by their first name. Oh and when you get to your first base, then expect some initiation. I had one ask me to go to photographic station and get a long weight, I kept telling him that I was not that stupid, however, he insisted and because I was new, I said ok. I went and ended up having a coffee with Chris the CPL and after about an hour I went back to my section, and my CPL asked where I had been, so I explained but never got told off. That was just one example 1) Long Wait 2) Glass Hammer 3) Tartan paint are just some of the ones.
What are some of the pynishments in RM training and when you get into the RM for say if you were late etc.
It all depends how imaginative your training team are.
@@gay_commando1611 one of the truest things i've ever heard mate 😂
Thank you , I don't think you relise how videos like this help people not only during the application but also in inform them what they are getting themselve into . Keep it up
Thanks.
Great video
hoofing video :)
