Does HILS offer bursaries to potential students from outside Korea? Could one promote HILS in South Africa?
Hello from Cape Town, South Africa. I have been blessed by coming across the lectures on law on your UA-cam channel Great to learn more about HILS

The lecturer GREATLY chops out MOST of the historical account. 1. The Christians were making the sign of The Cross, and this made the demons flee, preventing the reading of the liver. 2. Diocletian was sacrificing human beings for the divination of the future. 3. The Church at Nicomedia was a real Church. It had an altar and sacred vessels, Holy Scriptures and Icons of Jesus Christ. 4. The Pratorian Guard was sent into the Church at Nicomedia to: Burn The Icons of Jesus Christ. Burn The Holy Scriptures. Loot the Holy vessels. Tear down the altar of GOD. Tear down, stone by stone, the Holy Christian Church at Nicomedia.
These are key lectures sadly missing in the law schools in this post-Christian world.
It would be nice to have access to the slides. He mentions an author. I think he is saying "Stall." I'm not sure, and I do not know what publication he is referencing.
Image Conscious.
Hu-man= sub -men. God laws are good. Natural law is good. The human law's are for the lawless.
Someone didn’t watch the video
Is it also possible to seek asylum from philippine government law of the land protocols with regards to prescriptions on criminal proceedings? My lawyer from PAO(public attorney's office), said that spiritual progress and biblical truths have no bearing inside court proceedings as they mainly focus on evidences and witnesses accounts.
It takes an intellectual to believe in an outcome based ideology. The greatest lesson of history is that the means create the ends. No just and fair outcome will arise from corrupt and unfair means.
I look forward to these lectures.
As a 66 year old African American male Grassroots Republican and a president Donald Trump supporter who lives in Macon Bibb county Georgia 31201, I will continue to keep President Donald Trump, our Grande ole Republican Party and our nation at large the United States of America in my Daily Morning and Evening Prayers taken from my 1789 Book of Common Prayer of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the United States of America and the Authorized King James English Bible. God Bless the United States of America.
This lays out a mindset that I dealt with after a 1986 protest in Binghamton, New York. The rhetoric used back then by Christians was definitely Thomistic, and it lacked the counter balance that Enlow raises during his summation of this presentation. Great principles to grapple with. If you have not seen the playlist dealing with Christian witness (martyrs), go back and watch those episodes.
He gave the two different readings of Phineas, siding with the first one as being correct. Yes. This understanding also matches Abram's acts against the hordes that took his nephew Lot when they pilfered the greater area of Sodom. Abram essentially commanded a private militia, but he did what the local kings already aspired to do though they were sidetracked. In other words, he could articulate a justification for his actions that the local magistrates would approve. It was not vigilantism. // The earmarks of trying to institutionalize being a zealot that was given towards the end is an important distinction. Well done!
Separate audio needed from the handheld microphone.
I agree that these videos are hidden gems. The comment below from a year ago states 232 views. As of 12/11/2023, it is 268. An increase of thirty-six. If someone pushes the prosperity gospel, this video and the series it is a part of can be your reply.
Great introduction of Polycarp and being a witness.
Thank you for posting these videos!
Another great expounding of how the greatest of these is love.
What are the standards (process) used to determine what is right? There is great danger in an outcome based standard because it can create a mental framework in which "the ends justify the means".
Note the transformation in the traditional wedding. ... They enter as man and woman, but leave as husband and wife. This directly illustrates their change of identity. If either of them does not transform their identity, the "marriage" is broken at its inception. There is no husband if there is no wife. There is no wife if there is no husband.
Great content (as usual). Always get a blessing from these lectures. Keep up the good work
I really hope that the students are sharing these videos. If nothing else, share this one and the one before it with your church. Pastors cannot give what they do not have or what they do not understand.
The Ivy League law schools used to understand the concept this video talks about. Essau is not the only one who has been handed a mess of pottage. Churches not only allowed the world to chase after a system that seems to be right, but the end thereof are roads to destruction, they joined the pursuit as well. Approaching legal concepts without the mind of Christ will turn your criminal justice system into just a system.
Another outstanding presentation addressing a topic that has enslaved modern society, including churches. When he spoke about the crazy things a heroin addict might do, I was reminded of an old saying that I've taught my nine children: "Stupidity cannot make you sin, but sin will make you stupid." We are surrounded by stupid people whose higher functions of simple reason and counsel has been derailed by sin.
If you have the audio recording directly from the microphone, please overlay it to replace the audio track from the camera. Recording from the camera is never going to be as good as the line feed coming directly from his hand held microphone.
Excellent! He speaks to the subject of hope. Hope in the shadow of a criminal justice system that is just a system: sometimes it gives godly outcomes, sometimes it doesn't. If I were to summarize this video into a slogan, it would be, " because we have a hope beyond the fallen world around us."
What!!! Are you telling me that state courts are NOT a place where evil pepole carry out their effective ends??? So is it "good" for courts to assume that the defendant is obligated to obey, and may rightly be punished for any disobedience? ... What of the Romans 13 principle in which "the sword" was only given to wield against those who do evil? Is it just to use "the sword" to force compliance and conformity? How can a court act justly when it starts by assuming that people are its slaves? The assumption of people to be slaves is used almost all state courts as the cause of action for many prosecutions. The ends do not justify the means. The means do not justify the ends. The means creates the ends.
This is another good presentation: it delved into the wheat and tares phenomena as it relates to legal systems. Enlow mentioned that Christ obeyed the legal authorities, except on any point that conflicted with His Father's will. The dean is correct. Unfortunately, there are some sects that think the book of Romans teaches to obey civil government regardless of the morality. Sometimes, such people will bring up the "render unto the Caesar the things that are Caeser's" quote, but omit the further implications. Yes, the image and superscription of the coin belonged to Caesar, but what could be asked next is, "Whose image and superscription is on Caesar?" We are made in God's image and His laws were written on our hearts (laws we tend to distort and blot out). The unspoken truth in the "render unto Caesar" passage is that God is the ultimate authority to which even Caesar must give account. Tech note: if you have the microphone audio recording of this lecture, please use it to replace the poor camera audio.
Great lecture! We need more teaching like this. God intended to give Israel a king - it is even part of His future plan to have David as a ruler (Duet 17:14-18 cf. Ezek 34:22-24), but Israel was not content to wait on God's timing and pushed for a king a generation too early. They thought things depended upon them. I have watched American churches commit this idolatry for many years. They speak of the sovereignty and lordship of Christ, but their actions say otherwise. The following is a quote from the "afterword" of "An Introduction to Biblical Jurisprudence" that echoes the message of E.G. Enlow: "At any other time, preachers would teach on the sovereignty of God, that God can turn the hearts of civil leaders in any direction if God is so inclined, and that promotion comes from God, not ourselves, but such notions are periodically forgotten for months across the United States of America. The sovereignty of God in the affairs of mankind is out of season, for example, whenever avowed opposition threatens to take political power. Instead of only heralding men who fulfill moral qualifications for leadership positions that affect public morality, as spoken by Moses and the Apostle Paul, a lack of faith causes Christians to bend on things not meant to bend. The reason for being so pliable? Fear. This anxiety-laden mindset has given mainstream parties no reason to even pretend to offer a candidate possessing an unyielding moral compass. This fearful mindset has also given God no reason to step in and flex His muscles because the salt lost its saltiness at a moment it was needed. Holding your nose to vote, for example, is a clue that you are violating a solid moral principle in hopes that some good will come of it .... It is one thing to find yourself under the rule of the ungodly, but it is an entirely different thing to actively put them over you by advocating for them to be placed there (The lesser of two moral evils is still evil). There is no end to the amount of compromise made along this path. In the 1980s, I began forecasting that such trajectory would eventually have Christians politically campaigning for cult leaders, open adulterers, and men who believe they have never had a need to ask God for forgiveness, and I have lived long enough to see each prediction eventually happen. I now add homosexuals to the list, because as soon as an opposing candidate is painted as a virtual atheist or apostate running against a homosexual who belongs to a church, Christians will jump on the homosexual’s bandwagon because they believe change is totally dependent upon them choosing the so-called lesser evil in order to win an election. Where are the Christian protests and boycotts whenever their political parties offer them a lack of godly choices? Yet whenever their biblically unqualified but “viable” candidate loses to the boogeyman, the phrase, “God is still in control,” all of a sudden is back in season to once again flow freely from their lips. God is still in control? Where is this cliché when faced with no biblically qualified candidate to endorse? Such double-minded, duplicitous, feckless behavior goes unchecked because churches have not demonstrated biblical jurisprudence for a long, long time in the public square. Churches need to resurrect the practice of consistently judging righteous judgement that is not swayed by the threat of impending doom." If you still don't understand what I am saying and why I am saying it, please go back and listen again to Eric Enlow's great message, "Does Faith in Jesus Have a Relation to Understanding Modern Legal System?" What he said is foundational to how you should approach handling public policy and law.
Everything needs to viewed as being for the honor of Christ. As he mentioned, the separation of church and state was a comment from Jefferson to Baptists to alleviate the fear of church oppression (one denomination overpowering another). It was never meant to divorce law from Christ, but wicked men and foolish believers have weaponized such a notion against the nation's Christian influenced foundation.
This video was my first exposure to teaching from Handong ILS. I really like the thief vs. robber points made at the beginning. Thank you for putting this online (eight people watched it with me). Good use of the Pilgrims being stupid regarding theonomics (I paused the video to explain why the early Jerusalem church had many to sell their goods and pool their resources. They expected Christ to be back within a few short years - which would have worked for them, but when God turned to the Gentiles after the nation failed to repent, those folks outlived their resources, which is why Paul started taking up offerings for "the poor saints in Jerusalem." In the long term, socialism/communism leads to shared poverty - e.g., North Korea). I think he misspoke once: the state goes not give rights (legal positivism), it is suppose to recognize God-given rights. Since I haven't watched the preceding classes, I do not know the context of the use of the word "will." He kept saying that violating someone else' will is wrong, but I would say violating their rights, or to be specific, God-given rights. His use is most likely meant to be that the will is supposed to be within the boundaries of godliness, and that such a will is what he meant when he talked about violating or disrespecting someone else' will. However, there are perverts whose will needs to be denied and disrespected, especially when they want to express their perversion in public, so changing the terminology or at least defining it within the same lecture to show the distinction as God-given rights or a godly will would be prudent (Every knee will bow, despite what their will has been). I'm looking forward to feeding E.G. Enlow's other videos into our viewing cue. poplme.co/tonyrobinson
"Fifty-three (51.5%) died during the first winter due to malnutrition, disease, and lack of preparedness. There was no bias in proportion dying by sex or social class, but children survived in higher proportion (74.2%) than adults (37.5%)(t = 3.75; p<0.001), and if 1 parent survived the winter, the children all lived"
Love, love these talks. Thank you very much. These all are a blessing, encouragement, and a rebuke to me. May all be done in love to glorify Christ Jesus.
Thank you very much for posting these wonderful talks. As a Bible believing Christian, I've struggled to find balance in this area over the last few years. Your talks have been inspirational, informative, enthralling, and convicting. In all things, our obedience to righteousness or our disobedience to sinful commands, may Jesus Christ be praised!
The 20th century is a wonderful example of why evil means will not create good ends. This is the greatest lesson of history, and the one most often forgotten by those in authority. The hardest thing is the simple thing. ... That is so true. Where I live, the state has no authority to license any criminal act. But, many acts are enforced and prosecuted as a crime by the state until the individual purchases a license to commit that crime.
In the uploaded recording, there's glitch here and there🥲🥲. Thank you for the wonderful lecture tho!
🤣🤣 What a wonderful acting❤❤ See you at the banquet!😍😍🙏🙏

Thank you for your work, it is huge blessing for the church and for the generations to come. Greetings from Poland
The persons / things / actions distinction makes a lot of sense. Thank you-I’m very excited to watch this whole playlist.

This is what the original law schools taught. It’s amazing how far the Western rule of law has been subverted.
