Such an inspiring interview! I'm over 40 and currently learning data analytics. One of my goals for 2025 is to do more networking as I continue my learning journey.
@@SunshineMcNair So glad you found it inspiring! Networking is one of my favorite topics so I mention it in a lot of videos. So I hope you keep coming back
@@CareerSuccessSecrets you have a new subscriber here. I look forward to catching up on your previous content and watching new content as it drops.
So much good advice packs in under an hour. Thank you both of you for this great conversation. I'm over the age of 40 and this really helps.

Thanks for sharing one of your favorites from Tim!
I really enjoyed your perspective Mike! Imagine having 960$ every day in the bank that you had to spend! How would you spend that money!
You only have 960 minutes. If what you're doing right this minute exactly the way you want to be spending this minute?
Start small and do it consistently! Loved the video, Thank you Mike!
20 minutes each day or multiple days a week will eventually get you to where you want to go!
Super psyched to listen to your podcast Mike!

@ will do
This conversation highlights this important fact: In large organizations like Amazon, the partnership between Talent Acquisition (TA) and Hiring Managers is integral for managing the high volume of requisitions and applicants effectively. While a Hiring Manager might occasionally send a resume directly to a recruiter, in-house teams typically maintain their structured processes to ensure consistency and efficiency.
There's so much more to drill down on! Definitely will have some FAANG recruiters to explain some other sides of it at some point!

Folks this video was posted in 2023, November
thats crap, your clueless
Which part is crap? What am I clueless on? Are you taking into account this video was posted like last year? Are you telling me there's 0 chance of being successful and everyone should just give up? Some people are having success right now...but not if you're convinced it's hopeless
What are y’all’s questions?
Thank you, Mike. I will incorporate the 20-minutes rule into my extra tasks and commitments.
Is this the carrot vs stick paradigm of motivation?
Which parts are you referring to? Every individual is motivated differently but generally speaking more people (as much as 70-90%) are motivated by avoiding negative things than by just potential positive outcomes.
What questions do you all have? Was there anything you wanted to know about networking that we missed?
Love your video! !! Do not waste your time > Promo SM.
I'm so embarrassed. I thought I responded to you! Thanks so much for the great comment!

Thanks bro i needed this
I'm so happy to hear this! Thanks for letting me know!
Is the summary necessary if you also have a cover letter?
TY for your question. Yes, the summary is necessary despite the cover letter because the cover letter often gets thrown away or deleted after the initial read. The resume is re-visited again and again until you are either hired or not selected. The only exception to not having a summary & being safe would be if your past 2 job titles & industries matched up perfectly with the job applying for, which almost never happens. Please feel free to join my Free Facebook Group where I discuss resumes & answer questions in more detail facebook.com/groups/howtolandanyjob/
Sir today i heard your video... i am agreed with you 100% cause i apply too many time but not respond cause there is a photo on it.. on little interviews i be call. but the thing is may be they see my photo they think he's is looking un professional , unmature, or not fit for this job. i think they observe with my photo not what i write on it. thanks for motivate me..more now i remove my photo and remake my resume
I'm glad the video was helpful! Keep going!
thanks
I really appreciate your heartfelt vulnerability. It shows that you care. As a leader It takes humility to put aside your position and speak as an equal. This is the first time I have seen you and I already trust you. Powerful stuff!
Thank you Jim! Reading comments like this reminds me it's all worthwhile!
great video Mike!
Thanks Peter!

In the thousands of people I've worked with, I've never heard this. Were you prepared for the interview? Did you nail it? I find it hard to believe that that the interviewer didn't think you were taking it seriously just because you smiled a lot. You are far more likely to give a negative first impression from not smiling than smiling. I'd suggest that you work with a coach. Otherwise you have to wait until you have more data that agrees with the one outlier. The guy could have been having a bad day. It could be an unfriendly place to work. Before you focus on smiling less, practice improving your interviewing. If you are well prepared, I think your naysayer disappears.
In one occasion an interviewer told me that I didn't look serious just because I smiled too much. Smiling is an habit I got from my hometown. Everyone smiles there when communicating to others. My question is: how would you find out when it is enough in regards to smiling?
