2023 Glen Helen 10hr Endurance Race - Ironman
This event was insane to say the least! 10 hours of racing in the Ironman class on my 250FX; it was the most physically demanding event I've ever done. I knew I could complete it from the very beginning, but I did not think I was going to be even remotely competitive and place in the top 10! That was huge for me!
I did not train for this event at all. I prepared my body and bike the week of the race, but that was about the extent of the preparation I did. Overall, I'm super happy with my results. The bike held up perfectly and had 0 issues. Over the course of the event, I only remember taking 3 spills, all in which were minor tip overs with no injuries or damage. 1 was a more serious crash, but I was able to get up immediately. Somehow, a rock got lodged between the chain and sprocket locking up the rear wheel. The marshal and I spent about 5 mins trying to dislodge it and free up the wheel.
For the first 3-4 hours of the race, I was cooking clocking in 18-20 min lap times and only made 1 pitstop. Toward the halfway mark at about 5 hours, a blister formed on my hand and then popped, making it extremely painful to hold onto the bars. I was also getting extremely dehydrated, my legs started to cramp, and it became extremely difficult to breathe due to all the dust I was inhaling. At that point, I started to get inside my head and took about a 40-45 min break to rest, rehydrate, and do some maintenance on the bike.
Up to about the 8 hour mark, I just pushed through all the pain that I started to feel in every muscle and bone. I was turning out laps, but they were significantly slower than what I started, around the 25-28 min mark, sometimes even slower. The last 2 hours were brutal. I was only able to knock out 1-2 laps before I had to pit again due to fatigue and unbearable pain in both my hands. I pushed through lap after lap and eventually saw the checkered flag!
Some stats from the race are below. These are taken from my gps watch and the transponder. Unfortunately, my watch died about 6.5 hours into the race, so distance, speeds, and elevations are approximate the remaining time.

Cleaning Up My Bad Habits
Переглядів 106Рік тому
It was a good night at the track! I've been trying to improve my technique. I recently went to an MX camp and have been trying to put those practices into action. I'm getting faster at this track for sure! The other goal of the night was to finally get to play with my suspension setup.

I felt great in the morning practice, but unfortunately went down in my first moto of the day and got injured. I got through the rest of my motos for the day, but they were definitely not the fastest or cleanest. I injured my shoulder and the rest the rest of the day was fighting severe arm pump in both my arms just trying to hold on. There was a big crash in the last moto, I definitely hope ev...

This trip was definitely one for the books! Murphy's law really tested us this trip, despite the weeks and months worth of planning. Day 1 of riding, I accidently dropped my bike at camp while turning around. It landed on a rock and punctured the clutch cover essentially ending what was supposed to be 3 full days of riding. Day 2 I woke up to my truck radiator puking its guts all over the place...

Had a fun time this race. It was a blast to get my 2 friends in the same class as me to compete against each other. Running 3 classes this race however was a mistake. It's too much to be putting out for that many laps that I wasn't able to put 100% into each individual class. So I'll stick to 2 classes next time. -Timestamps- 00:00 250cc Novice Moto 1 8:14 Big Bike Open Moto 1 9:06 Open C Moto ...
2023 Glen Helen 6hr Endurance Race

This 6 hour endurance race was probably the most fun I've had on a dirt bike! The track was challenging, had a great amount of technical obstacles along with some good flowy sections, and the mud made it all a blast! We finished 13th/15 in our class which is not bad considering none of us have races this type of race before or even this type of terrain. Definitely looking forward to next year's...

Round 2 of the ACP Spring SMX series. Unfortunately, the track changed the rules for helmet mounted GoPros and don't allow them anymore, so I got no footage from round 1. This round I did pretty well on and happy to be in the top 10 on both my classes. I forgot to record my 250cc moto 1 race, however, it was my best race to date with a great start and a good finish. - timestamps - 00:00 - Open ...
Back at Glen Helen!

Finally got back out to Glen Helen since November. Started out slow, but slowly got better throughout the day. Cornering and ruts are my major weakness and definitely a point that I NEED to start focusing on more. My local track does not allow helmet cams anymore, so I've mounted my GoPro just above my number plate. It's an interesting view point, I'm digging the hyper boost over the standard s...

Race 4 in the SMX fall series and the final race of the year! Overall, I placed well enough to be happy with my performance. It was a super fun series as an intro into dirt bike racing. It's crazy to think how far I've come in just the past year of riding dirt bikes. Next year will be great with many more races planned! *Unfortunately, my 250cc class moto 2 did not get recorded* - timestamps - ...

2022 Dubya World Vet Championships at Glen Helen

Racing at Glen Helen for the Dubya World Vet Race in the 25 novice class. This 3 day event was just a blast in general! Track was definitely the roughest track I've raced on ever and it was definitely a challenge. By moto 3, I managed to get my lap times down to 3:52 from the 4:16 I was doing during Friday's practice. I placed 27th overall out of 46 riders in my class. Definitely a fun event an...

Hitting the Double!

Some more motos at ACP's Vet Track. I was extremely tired this day from 2 full days of off road riding and other track events. It caused me to crash two times and ultimately bending my rads on the bike. But, I's getting faster and faster on this track! The wind was gnarly and pushing you sideways in the air.

Very straight forward 👍 much appreciated!
What place did you finish man? Good riding!
I believe it was 9th out of 19. Thanks! It was a challenge for sure!
Nice video man
Hi man I picked up older blaster 200 and was working the guy told me tho the carb need clean, got home drove the kids around then I shot it of and got back on and didn’t start. I think it’s the key but I have no spark either
Hey man great video!
Nice man! weather looked perfect. Wish I did this one.
thanks for clarifying i thought it was the actual chain screeching cause my chain popped off thought it was stretched. So gottta be front sprocket or rear axle moved this vid helped
Grew up in Flag, live in Kingman now 22 yrs ,am 62 still ride 2 3 times a week .have a 2018 yz 450.
That's awesome! Any good trails in Kingman?
The loc2sl adapter is only for 2channels Amp?? Thanks
Just keep watching thanks a lot for the video and information you share
Props on iron manning 🤘🏾 good to see some Yuma Bros out there!
Thanks man! Yea there were a bunch of us this time
What’s the best time to go? I would like to take my nephew and myself and I don’t want him or me to get in the way and get smashed by a faster rider
Usually on the weekdays towards the evening time. Track will be best up, but far less riders
@@McMorty10 thanks for the follow up, will be looking to ride this summer
was the track a mess
Naw, it was actually pretty damn good tonight. Also VERY few riders which was awesome.
Hey man,I'm about to install a 4 channel amp in my 2008 Mazda 3 and I'm not sure which wire is the accessory 12v (the one to connect the remote wire to to tell the amp to turn on)I am struggling to find a diagram on Google could you tell me what color it is
What all did you get done to the suspension? Looking to get my fx done as it seems it may be too soft. Get it revalved as well?
I sent out the suspension to factory connection to get resprung & revalved
Why buy the fx for mx? Is the suspension way too soft for mx?
Cause where I was living at the time I rode woods and then moved to a place with al mx. It can be ridden mx if suspensions stiffened up for it.
@@smauller623 but would I need to have that done by a shop right? I don’t know whether to get a f or fx. The fx is appealing to me but I’ll probably hit the track at times with my buddy and I’m not sure if it would be severely lacking the suspension to be learning and hitting jumps.
@@jackripper6033you can get tusk tools to change springs in the fork tubes for your weight for mx. Rear shock is pretty simple. I had a 21 fx have a 24 250F now. Just swapped my revalved suspension over.
nice footage of my crash🥲
Lol
So you can use a llc even if you have a factory Amp. Or would it be better if I use the pac unit,
somehow you got the gopro lookin better than the gopro team
Thanks man! I live the angle, but it does put the camera in harm's way with rocks.
@@McMorty10 I think gopro sells protective cases now, I was thinking about getting one for mine
@@SethGarrett they do, I have a waterproof enclosure. But it's expensive and the lens covers aren't replaceable. The best solution I found was to use their silicone case with some glass screen protectors. Not perfect, but it does work until they get cracked.
Looks fun, except for the mud holes. I HATE MUD lol. May I ask what camera and settings you used? Looks really good!
The mud made it more fun! 4k super view 60fps High bit rate Boost hyper smooth I typically export at 4k 60fps 100mbps but used 45 for this video cause of the length.
@@McMorty10 Thank you!
aye i was camped right next to you guys! Great job! The track was rough that's for sure haha
Hell yea! How'd you end up doing?
@@McMorty10 I think overall we got 22nd, but I got taken out by the logs and fractured my foot on the second lap! I iced it and rode another 2 hours after that! Haha
@@McMorty10 what about you guys?
@@nickgarrcia jeez man! Hope for a quick recovery. We got 13th/15 in our class. No idea about overall, I'll have to look. Tbh, we weren't going for competition. None of us have races this before and the type of terrain and race style were all new. So we were just having fun and trying to enjoy the day.
@@McMorty10 Thats awesome man! What did you think of the track? Those mud holes were scary haha
Helping out that kid was super awesome to see. Im sure he will learn from that and do the same to people in his future :)
Missed the race this year but seeing the mud and water it probably wasn't going to be a fun ironman being wet all day. First rule of GH 6 hour fight club...never fall down. Better to go slow than tip over.
The mud made it a blast tbh! But yea, I definitely wasn't trying to fall, but it happens.
Boyz! I want to say first of all congratulations for finishing! I ran the ironman class and I couldn't believe what I got myself into! Props for helping the young kid in the side trail. That's how you do it! KEEP IT MOVIN!!!
It was a wild course for sure! Definitely props on the ironman, you're nuts haha!
wow, now thats a mudder. good job
hell yeah🤙, u going to the acp race this weekend

Why no helmet cams? Where is that?
ACP, they are following AMA rules is all.
damn dude i need to get this angle next time I race, but nice footage
Thanks! It's just mounted on my number plate where it bolts to the triple clamps. Unfortunately, it is in the way of rocks and mud, my lens got cracked from it.
you gonna race the next serious next year?
I'll be in a few races, probably not the whole series this time. Wanna try my hand at some GPs and off-road races.
Is the trail a full loop or you have to go back same way?
And the trails are bidirectional loops
do you sill have that kicker sub?
Nope
do you have a new sound system
I was on your left at the start! Haha #191
Hell yea man! How'd u do?
@@McMorty10 really rough weekend lol 7-10-14. Lost my rear brake after moto 1 and had to race all weekend without a rear brake. But I had a good time! How’d you do?
@@KyleNations191 oh God! Nope! Can't imagine racing that track without a rear brake, I got 27th overall.
Hello Could you tell me what mod you did to your bike? exhaust ? Map? Sprocket ? If any? The bike seems very torquey Thank you for replying
Hey man, I haven't done anything in particular to the engine. I'm using different maps, sc5 tires, and a twin air air filter. But that's about it. I'm a light rider, only 145lbs so it just has plenty of power for me already.
Where is this track located? Nice ride, one can see you getting more comfortable each lap.
For sure! Second season here, so definitely improving from last season. It's called "happy track" in Yuma, Az
@@McMorty10 is that track built in the Yuma speedway?
@@rocker95ify nope, it's north of the Cocopah speedway. You can Google happy track and find it.
