I saw them in Austin 10 years ago. The way The XX creates this protective sonic cocoon live is incredible. When I saw them years ago, the purple haze mixed with their sound literally enveloped the whole crowd it was like being wrapped in sound and light at the same time. Their reverb heavy guitars and bass frequencies physically moved through the colored air, creating this perfect balance of feeling exposed but completely safe. It's similar to how James Turrell and Olafur Eliasson's light installations make you feel held in space, but The XX does it with both sound and visuals. The darkness between the lights worked like musical rests, and time felt both frozen and flowing. Their music has this way of creating complete environments that let you feel deeply while feeling protected. I actually cried during their show they somehow sound even better live than on recordings, which I never knew was possible. Watching this brings it all back. 💜 58:34

I was there. Spontaneously went on sunday morning, flying from my hometown to Berlin, taking the train to Melt and arriving there with a friend by noon. Maybe just to meet that girl I met once a few weeks before. Had the time of my life, probably the best festival day I ever experienced. The XX live was the cherry on top. Kissed that girl while dancing in the crowd like there never wouldn't be a monday following that day. Took the train to berlin with her on monday evening after spending the day after the festival on the camping grounds coming down from the night, never saw her again afterwards. But the memories of all those hours at Melt getting lost in the music with someone I didn't even really know before are cherished to this day. Not a story about the girl, but about enjoying every single second to the fullest and making memories for a lifetime.

She's sooo great. Even Pinkpop, Lowlands, Glastonbury and woowwww... I never could imagine this when i was to her concert in Tivoli back in 2016. You deserve these podia. This is the very first song i knew of her in my car, and i liked it so much i discovered her music. Im so blessed!
