"There's the life and there's the consumer event. Everything around us tends to channel our lives toward some final reality in print or on film. Two lovers quarrel in the back of a taxi and a question becomes implicit in the event. Who will write the book and who will play the lovers in the movie? Everything seeks its own heightened version. Or put it this way. Nothing happens until it's consumed. Or put it this way. Nature has given way to aura. A man cuts himself shaving and someone is signed up to write the biography of the cut. All the material in every life is channeled into the glow. Here I am in your lens. Already I see myself differently. Twice over or once removed.”
"It's Too Quiet" The Early Morning Television of 9/11/2001
Fashion Week was just getting underway in New York. George W. Bush went for an early morning jog in Florida. Iraq shot down a Predator drone. The weather was still summer and perfect. Until 8.46 AM, September 11, 2001 was another morning in America.

“Beautiful summer day”
This happened six years before I was even born. This video, and many others, have provided great insight on how normal everything was before 8:46am, for people like me who were either born after or too young to remember these attacks.
"there's something in the air" Bush: i got you
The mainstream media is like Mao Zedong's China, complete propaganda. They knew about and covered up the September 11th attacks.
3:55 Add one more thing onto that list...
Salisbury, NC?? Thats where im from!
Dial 911 Help Issues NBC Morning Show on 9/11 at 1:47.
Was that Ollie Williams??
The foreshadowing is crazy
0:40 there is something in the air 0:46 😮
0:50 “there is something in the air”
1:53 *NO WAY- THERES NO WAY*
it hurts my heart watching this
4:24 Dammit, what was he going for?!
"Watches it flying out here on American Airlines" Ouch, to think that as he says that, a AA plane has already been hijacked and is off the grid heading towards NYC.
I was born in 2007. Seeing these tv channels made me realize how happier the world was before the events of 2001. Unfortunately, I was born in an angry world, a world full of hatred and carelessness.
The world has always been bad ever heard of world war 2?
@@Brushedmetal69 i meant society wise. Not the government.
@@DilationZ like I said a lot of people in germany supported hitler and shared his same views on jews etc.
I can't even count on my 10 fingers, there were SO MANY FORESHADOWING LIKE WHATTT❓❓❓
I didn't realize Al Roker used to be so... well rounded, what a transformation
I live in the Chicago market, so the Jordan thing was all the news was talking about. I turned off the TV to head to school ( freshman) and thought, "I hope something happens today so they stop talking about Jordan."😢
This is a proof that we live in a pre destined world
2:21 😅
I liked how Repoters in different scenes told the references to 9/11 like the Man who said about Flying American Airlines.... its eerie
2024 anyone?
man says it's too quiet on 9/11 , what happens next is shocking
though the video is sad, you have to admit it gives you a sense of nostalgia. though i wasn't yet alive to witness this, i think it's ironic that television hasn't changed all that much in over 20 years. The style of these channels make me feel like i'm watching the Macy's Day Parade (probably because half of these channels are on air covering that even now) with my family when I was younger, or maybe i just feel this way because I don't watch the news or live tv in general that often. Idk just something i wanted to put out there
That aura of innocence is just so tragic. None of them knew what was in store and the rippling effects it would have for decades to come. The last moments of sanity in this country were exhausted on that fine Tuesday morning
2:47 it's too quiet.
0:48 “There is something in the year” yeah you bet
*air
It’s insane that this was after columbine
"A perfect morning!!" "It's quiet, too quiet." If only they knew what would happen...
Any nurse would tell you to NEVER say "It's Too Quiet".
3:03 Tha fact that purple represents mourning in some parts of Europe makes this scene really creepy
Mentions on 911? It's too "quiet". Is it just me or is this a bit ironic
😅
I was only a 1-year-old that day. From what I can tell, my dad was playing with me in my bedroom when he gets called by my mom (there's conflicting testimony over whether she was watching the news downstairs or she was at work and heard about the attacks). She sounds shocked as she tells my dad to watch the news, to see that the World Trade Center had been attacked.
Obese Al roker scared me a little 😭 I wasn’t even alive for that period of time
There is a lot of foreshadowing.
It's so sad to see americans commenting that this is where the societal mood changed forever. These broadcasts have the energy as any European reporting today.
I’ve been having a weird obsession with pre and post 9/11 America after the war between Israel and Hamas started. It’s so surreal to see how hopeful and safe everyone is. Sometimes I wish I got to live out my childhood before those planes hit.
Ahh, the last few moments of the 90s.
She was obviously in on it.
Do Americans ever question why the US "lost unmanned spy plane over Iraq"? Are they not aware how normalised this spying on foreign soil thing by the media, effectively making it a propaganda tool?
04:10 Laughably overdramatic.
01:12 The most beautiful Japanese woman i've ever seen. Wow !! What's her name ??
Anyone in 2024?
The deaths of 9/11 are nothing compared to those effected overseas by the war on terror that Dick Chaney wanted to happen. Never forget the CIA let 9/11 happen, it wasnt an inside job, they just let it happen- All so Chaney could make his money on Saudi oil. In those 20 years following the attacks over 800,000 people died across 5 countries in the middle east. And its all our governments fault. Just think about all this before this video "gives you chills" or makes you feel "patriotic". The 9/11 deaths were all for nothing, only used as means to an end- to justify the 5 million deaths the war on terror our government started because we let ourselves get attacked. If you mourn the mere 2,996 who died on 9/11, but not the 5 million across the globe, or the 800,000 from the middle east, or the 40,000 in Gaza.... I have no sympathy for you, and I will continue to not care about the stupid anniversary because 2,996 is nothing worth caring about because our government continues to make countless deaths happen all in the name of profit and control to make the world more fascist.
It's like signs were being given that whole morning... *No one suspected a thing.*
"It's too quiet" moments later.....it's not quiet
1:55
Is there any more of this?
