Just built a new Altair 8800
Переглядів 113Рік тому
This is a reproduction of the Altair 8800. It was built with mostly new parts. The exception is the RAM board which is a vintage 16K static RAM card from about 1978. It's very basic right now with just the front panel control, CPU card and RAM. Next step will be to add and interface for a terminal and tape storage.
My first Lionel Train - Postwar era model
Переглядів 1103 роки тому
This is my first Lionel train. I have had HO scale since childhood but never the O scale Lionel. The train, transformer and track are all original and 60 years old. It runs pretty well but needs a little tinkering with the whistle button on the transformer.

Trying to defeat the kill screen but it's just too crazy.
Atari 7800 Pac-Man Collection - 40th Anniversary Edition

This is a quick and dirty video I made to demonstrate two games in this new collection for the 7800. They are running on my Expansion Module, XM for short.
RevEngTracker for 7800 XM and YM2151

Some brilliant work by Mike (RevEng) with this first attempt at a YM2151 tracker for the 7800 XM. Bravo! I just wish I could play it through a real sound system.
Dual 1219

Video of freshly refurbished Dual 1219 Turntable. This is my first attempt to video with my Canon and audio plugged into the mic input. Seems to be some auto gain noticeable at the end of the song even though I had set to manual. Needs better lighting as well.

What Do Yo Mean By Dirty Video
“Quick.and dirty” makeshift, done or produced hastily.
Just check out Ms. Pac-man. Ooh La La
@@MrTEP392 When Are You Gonna Post A Another Video?
Beautiful Oldschool Noise =)
Another masterpiece in the works.
Cool. My dad has been an O-gauge collector since the 1940s.
What was at the beginning of the video before you reset?
I'm running the game on a development cart. The guy who designed the cart, CPUWIZ, built in a bunch of chip tunes that play when the 7800 is booted. Pressing pause switches from that screen to the game.
@@MrTEP392 gotcha, the tune sounded very familiar
In the DK Remix Kill Screen, Donkey Kong is in a "deranged" mode.
Yes. Unlike the kill screen bug in the original arcade machine, this kill screen can be played through. It's just very difficult.
That’s the coolest thing since bread was sliced!
doesn't look like the 400/800 version...which system does this work on
This is my updated version of Pac-man. I made versions for both the computer line and the 5200.
Nice version
Atari 7800 console works with YM2151 Chip?
This was done with an add on called 7800 XM (expansion module). There is a flash cart, Dragonfly, produced recently that has YM2151 audio as an optional add on.
What is this downloader interface? Does it allow downloading games to XM RAM for testing builds during dev? That would be extremely helpful, especially if certain address ranges could be updated (for code and/or data updates), as this appears to connect via the joystick port, which is fairly slow.
This is a cart called the MCP Devcart. It was designed by an Atari enthusiast several years ago but only a few were made. It supports games up to 144k which it can load in 38 seconds. It also has a POKEY audio chip. It does have a feature that lets you update specific banks if your only making small changes to the code. A pretty cool device.
@@MrTEP392 Sounds awesome! Too bad no more are being made! I'd def buy one. Too be they didn't open source the design (presumably).
RIP Curt Vendel. You were one of the great ones for so many reasons. The Atari community will never be the same without you. This is an awesome example of the power of the 7800 XM. I hope it makes it to completion and availability in the nearish future. I have several games that I've been planning on developing for it that will be amazing!
It works with Atari concerto Sd Card with all custom roms
if only there was a windows version that could output to .vgm and had support for existing fm tracker presets and raster music tracker instruments. I'd use that not only for 7800 fm but also for some atari system 1 style music.
Can't wait!
Originally, some of their copy protection attempted to kill the drive (if a particular EPROM was detected). See the podcast "ANTIC Interview 40 - Doug Carlston, Br0derbund" at 14:42
This is amazing
Atari 7800 evolution sounds: TIA like ATARI2600/ATARI7800 1986 present Pokey like ATARI5200/800XL/XE 1982, 2010 present Yamaha 2020 present
Sounded like the real one
Thanks folk's! Bob D. deserves the bulk of the credit for programming this masterpiece. The future of 7800 Homebrew looks bright.
Killer! The XM is going to be super fun for 7800 Development. Amazing work as usual Tep.
This is straight up beautiful! Can't wait for the XM.
Keep up the good work!! You deserve more views. Did you ever check SMZeus . c o m!? You should use it, it will help you get the views that you deserve!!
OMG!!! If this is what developers can do with the 7800XM's in just a few weeks of dev units going out, I cannot wait until a few months from now!!! You guys are blowing my mind, that was INCREDIBLE!!! Thank you so much for putting in that work and that downloader interface.... I WANT ONE!!! :-D
Ok keep enjoying
Beautiful!
I have mine and I LOVE it!!!!!
So then would this allow cartridges that are unplayable on an 800 (i.e. Flight Simulator II) to become playable? Flight Simulator II needs at least 64K to function, so a stock 800 won't play it.
The memory structure is not the same as the XL or XE machines, so anything requiring 64k Xl machine would not work. Axlon is suported by some office apps like syncalc. Probably used primarily as ram drive.
Hey, does your 810 Happy have the Rev 7 Hardware? Your DOS XL Warp Speed uses that 'slower' original happy protocol, noticeable by the lower SIO tone compared to the later UltraSpeed emulation. The older happy upgrades only supported this 'Warp Speed' Protocol. Topic of discussion on AA.. atariage.com/forums/topic/257578-happy-810-resources/?p=4128233
Just saw this in my spam folder? I purchased my Happy upgrade from B&C and was supposed to be the latest version. I took a photo of it before installation. I'll have to dig it up and check the eprom.

My youtube video? Why Thanks!
Any hint where i can download it?
It hasn't been relased yet by the programmer. Hopefully someday soon.

Neat
I remember one of the titles actually formatting the disk when it displayed ZAPPO!
I don't know if anyone noticed the quick change over to the original Pac-man at the end. It was not a video edit. ;)
If the Donkey Kong that Atari made for their 7800 was as good as this version, it would've kicked ass. But it sucked ass because it was missing the cement factory screen like the NES version. I notice that the music used in this version is identical to the music of the Atari 400/800 Donkey Kong. I also like that this version lets the player choose both the Japan and US versions of the game. The crappy 7800 Donkey Kong that Atari made didn't do that either.
Thank you! I put a lot of effort into making it look and play like the arcade version. I might have borrowed a few of the sounds from the 400/800 version. ;)
I’m 6 years late. But yes, you certainly did that. Though I noticed a sound you added that wasn’t on the original: the music at the end of the girder level.
This a great port, the speed appears just about perfect. Thx
Some nice moments of good evasion. Cool!
xm is still under development. hope it's ready soon.
Anything happen recently with the XM?
Wow, that's an amazing version. I need to find out more about this "XM Expansion Module" (which is probably no longer available??).
I had this one :)
This is a new version isn't it?
just having the atari name on a system was an advantage back in the day. but atari tried to feed us shit and failed. nintendo wiped their ass with atari and threw them away with ET in the garbage dump. you would think atari would try to redeem themselves with the jaguar but we all know where that went.
superflashXXX You've got shit for brains. How much shovelware was on the NES? Too much, way more than the Aattari systems had. Next time do your research before opening your mouth you Japaphile Nintendo nut job.
ha! you were dumb enough to buy systems after the 2600. good for you son!! you are prolly old and bitter anyway! lol
By 1983 / 84, the Atari VCS / 2600 was beyond its shelf life. It was great in 1979 but not good enough for the early to mid 80s. That was the issue with E.T. - the system itself wasn’t sophisticated enough to do much better. By 83/84, Atari should have had something much better in the pipeline but the 5200 was not good enough for the. The 7800 might have had a chance if it came out before the NES, but was shelved during a re-structure. Or at least that’s the North American story. In other parts of the world (Australia, New Zealand, UK etc) it was home computers that beat Atari to a pulp, not the NES. Most notably the Commodore 64 and other competing machines.
This is how the 7800 version should have been, graphics from the arcade game and audio from the Atari 8-bit cart. Better than the NES ripoff that was offically released. :)
Very nice. I enjoy the off-chord 'no-frills' Atari version, but yours is a thing of beauty.
