There was a time when AXS network was running The Buddy Holly Story, which my mother was watching, and it hit me that February 3rd was the day when Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper died in that tragic plane crash.

Just a tragedy all the way around. I pray their souls are with God in heaven.

That is a day I will never forget, unreal its been 10 years today.

I’m a big doo wop & 50’s music fanatic even dough I’m only 50…I’m born & raised in NYC & I remember seeing the movie back in 87 when I was only 13…till this day, I still full blast Richie Valence Music & other 1950’s artist while cleaning my room. I wasn’t there in the 50’s yet in my opinion, is 1 of the best & greatest era, decade, time & generation through out the entire 1900’s

The pilot was “star struck” and made this fatal mistake. One day the truth will be told. As one who flies small aircraft. overall cargo WEIGHT is the most important part of a safe flight. Boarding BIG BOPPER was the fatal mistake. When we fly we’ve left people behind way before we reach the limit. It’s too bad no one explores this fact. Had the BIG BOPPER not gotten on, the music would not have died

"La Bamba" has ALWAYS BEEN ONE OF MY FAVOURITE MOVIES, I use to dance to his music, even tho I was born in 1962, I have to my celebrity boyfriend, a well known actor (mainly), and musician (a member of the Hollywood Vampires), if he ever wants to get on my good side, to sing one of Richie Valens's songs

You may remember me from around 74ish but Ed and I became really good friends spending a lot of time together right abt the time he became EDDIE MONEY and it is really good to hear from someone who actually knew the man. I really miss him... and your opinion about Can't Keep A Good Man Down is right on and I have some of your other original Rockets stuff... Alan Waters was here from NY. Hey, I just beat cancer too. I'm glad you had a chance to talk with him about it before he died. I went through my cancer after he had died so could not relate to the pain he carried there at the end and it made me so mad how things were handled... couldn't even get close to the fam. Anyway, thanks again John.

His music was before my time but I was introduced to it when I was very young. My mom loved it so much that she named my older sister Donna.

Ritchie's songs lived on in TV shows and movies, like Grease 1978 movie. One scene, it was the dancing scenes. And I heard it the very first time, and I didn't know that Ritchie sung. And I loved the song.

And three students from the school around the small plane. They also passed on that same year and month.
