fc wil is a greate team
Damn.. That’s rough.. Hopefully this callout will light a fire under Koné’s backside. And he didn’t feature at all this past weekend for OM after playing for the entire second half the club’s prior league match, so it would seem RDZ isn’t messing around when it comes to him. Step it up, Isma.. We’re rooting for you, and it would seem your gaffer is counting on you. 🇨🇦 ⚽️
They have to be one of the fastest teams on the planet....pace top to bottom!
good stuff
We dit c***jo mate!! ✊🏿🇨🇦🇨🇦… Love ur black jersey (have the same one, hahaha)
I believe that Suriname, who are usually a possession team, purposely came out with a strategy to play a total defensive match & they wanted to counter attack. That is a total compliment to Canada's speed, skill & athleticism. It obviously didn't work for them, as they didn't even get 1 shot on goal in that game, although they did manage to hold Canada to 1 goal, although we should have had at least 3. While Suriname may try play more aggressively in this match, I don't think that they will open up their game in the 1st half, as long as they are still only 1 goal behind on aggregate. I think they will continue with the counter attack strategy & they will only open up more sometime.in the 2nd half, if Canada is still up by only 1 goal. Now if Canada scores first (up by 2 in aggregate), then Suriname will be forced to change strategies & open up. Canada's defence, which is underrated, has been outstanding, since Marsch arrived & defence wins tournaments. I agree that Jr. Hoilett should start & he has been our best player for taking corner kicks over the years. By the way, in an interview today, Jonathan David said that he didn't find it too hot in Suriname & he also said that the pitch wasn't too bad.
Hope not, but agree with you, don’t see it happening there again, hahaha!! 😬
I think Choinière could be our best set piece taker imo, there. … thoughts?? 🤔🤔
I would have to agree with that take! I personally think we need to try Choiniere or Shaffelburg and let them consistently take them every game. Just to hope with lots of reps they improve.
The poor delivery of corner kick and set pieces must be addressed and improved ASAP!
Exactly set pieces can completely swing a football match and we must improve especially at BMO.
Canada needs another world class striker to have clinical finish and to put the ball into the net, in conjunction with David at frontline.
Not a bad idea, but who????.. lmao there.
It's a great thought but who would that be though? I think the hope now is Promise David can become that sort of player.
Exactly I think Promise David is the only possibility there.
I agree with almost everything that you said, except for one statement: I'm sorry; but you said that Canada is heading home to BMO, "a field that Canada never seems to lose at".... Just last year, we were in this same exact situation vs Jamaica & we even led 1-0 after the 1st half @ BMO field, only to lose the match 3-2 & got eliminated. Mind you, Canada struggled in 2023, due to Union issues & after the disappointment of not winning @ the World cup. Canada is on top of it's game now under Jesse Marsch's guidance. Still, they cannot afford to enter this match @ BMO field overconfident at all. They need to play much better in this match & show CONCACAF that we are indeed a dominant team & set the scene for the springtime semi-finals. Jr. Hoilett has always been a class act & a very talented player. He is by far, the best player on the team when it comes to taking corner kicks & for that reason, we may need him to start. Our corner kicks have been quite frankly terrible!!! Yes, the Reffing was predictably terrible. As they said on the broadcast, the constant stopping for fouls that shouldn't have been called, threw Canada off of its rythmn. It's no excuse for not playing our best; but it sure didn't help. I am looking forward to Larin starting again. It has proven to be a winning formula for Canada, even when he hasn't scored.. Apparently he didn't start this 1st match because of a slight nagging injury, even though he came on later. Marsch also wanted to experiment; but Tani isn't there yet. Marsch loves Larin's full game & he & David are improving every match. I agree that Ahmed did not have a strong game either. I hope that Tajon can get back in form soon.
Jonathan David mon joueur du LOSC préféré 🇨🇦🇭🇹
Phenomenal footballer!
as much as i like tani , i really dont see what marsch sees in him , hes not performing at club level and has had so many chances with the team and has never delivered. Larin is trash at club level and bad as a sub too dont let one goal against panama fool you he should be davids back up from now on. give promise david a chance next window . marsch needs to be cutthroat with his selection if your not performing at club and not amazing for country like shaffelburg you get dropped
I think Marsch made some big decisions especially with the goalkeepers and backline even though defenders were forced changed. But who plays next to David is a major decision to be made now. Tani misses way to many chances and can’t be missing chances consistently especially in major games. Promise David needs a chance now in March has to be convinced to join Canada.
Suriname decided to play with 6 defenders on the field. The plan was to try to stay behind the ball and counter attack. That’s not the way they play. They usually are a possession based team. But they respected Canada too much. Now they are forced to score goals in the 2nd leg. Canada should be the favorite to win, but Suriname 🇸🇷 will only get better as more higher profile players decide to play for them.
Surimerican, they were smart to respect Canada too much. That should have been a 3-0 result. Suriname played for a 0-0 tie & it almost happened. Had Suriname played more offensively, Canada would have exposed them even more. Remember that Canada had one of the best defences in the Copa Americas & then only allowed 1 goal for USA & no goals to Mexico in the Friendlies afterwards.
Ik denk dat Menzo het correct had gedaan. Want Paal was er niet. Dus ja. Had je een normale opstelling (je weet wel wat ik bedoel) denk ik dat Canada wel meer had gescoord en was het ook al eerder voorbij.
@@JustChillin740 facts!
@@jrcanuck1 I agree ☝️
I was very surprised to see how much Suriname played off and respected Canada. I expected Canada to control the match but didn't think to that extent, was really expecting to see Suriname control periods of the game which never happened. But Suriname trailing in the tie going to Toronto having to score really plays into Canada's hand. But I do agree with Suriname recruiting new players they'll only improve and become more dangerous.
This game is gonna be very exciting 🇸🇷 VS 🇨🇦
Was a great match unfortunately not a a lot of chances but always great to see Canada in action.
¡Vamos 🇨🇦 c****jo, sí se puede ahí!!! 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
St. Clair ✔ K. Miller ✔ I hope to see Tajon off the bench in both matches and the same with Theo Bair. I rate Bair and want to see more. Also happy to see Suriname taking positive steps - it's good for CONCACAF.
Glad you agree with my choices in the back line! Great calls love the Bair take I hope he gets an opportunity to start at BMO which I'm being very optimistic about. Yeah it's great to see sides like Suriname continue to improve and better Concacaf for everyone.
Thank you so much for the positive words ❤
Gotta be Adekugbe, for me. Ahmed will start right wing.
Good call! Totally agree about Ahmed.
So. Instead of running him out vs panama we should've kept him in Germany. These games are far more important
I do agree these games are much more important. But for all we know Davies could've had his mind already set to sit out this window. We got to remember it's not a short trip for these guys in Europe and they got lots of fixtures.
Where can I watch these games on tv? Is there anywhere else besides onesoccer? Also nice content I subbed
If you are subscribed to Fubo you would be able to watch it on OneSoccer on their. Besides that I am pretty sure that is the only available place to watch the match unfortunately. Really appreciate it glad to hear you were able to find to find the channel!
Thank you for taking the time to reply, I am considering getting Fubo, if I get one of the cheaper packages will it still offer lots of sports content? (Canadian soccer, European Soccer, NBA etc..)
I hope so, hahaha!! 🤣👉🏿
I think there is more at play then just Davies, as we've seen many more teams have a third of their rosters drop out for small tweaks and the likes. Is this disappointing, yes. Wondering if this is club influenced or just simply A bunch of players trying to look out for their best interests. We literally just saw Rodri complain about the congestion and next thing we know he ruptures his ACL and is out for the year. I don't think that can be lost in this conversation. I also think this might be the first drip especially with FIFA trying to strong arm clubs to have their strongest sides for the club world cup ( which might just make the Gold Cup that could have been the top players for all sides. Does it sting, of course. You always want your best players available. Yes the fans miss out on an opportunity to see some of the best players in the world. But, to me This is more of a FIFA Issue that inevitably bled into the NT world. *For context, I'm not the biggest fan of Nations League as it has basically killed the friendly IE the perfect opportunity to experiment tactically and roster wise (Hello Duals)*, *Yes in a perfect world if he needed rest he could have taken the last window off then come back for competitive games
Isn't it great to have depth to not have to sweat these personnel issues?
Couldn't agree more! Really shows how far we have come as a footballing nation and how good this squad really is.
Sorry; but I am going to do something that Canadian soccer purists absolutely hate & I'm going to compare this to hockey. This is a huge disappointment that you only see in soccer & basketball. You will almost never see Canadian NHL hockey players missing any important international series, with the opportunity to play for Team Canada due to "fatigue", or worrying about getting hurt because their club team needs them, or because they want to protect themselves for the next big contract. What bugs me even more is how all of the long time soccer people totally buy into it & say it makes sense. It's as ridiculous as how constantly faking injuries has become acceptable & part of the so called "beautiful game" & I really like soccer/Futbol. No!!! It's a huge disappointment with a very lame excuse, at a time when Canada needs to be winning these international tournaments convincingly, in order to build team confidence, momentum & chemistry, showing that we are indeed the 'Kings of CONCACAF' not some half assed, almost amateur like team, in which players just drop out whenever they choose, as they head towards 2026 & no, Suriname will not necessarily be a pushover team to defeat. This has zero to do with fatigue. This is all about Alphonso ensuring that he doesn't get injured, so that he can help his club team & also look good to help his value for his upcoming new contract negotiations. If Connor McDavid, or any other of the Canadian hockey stars, were to do that exact same thing in the upcoming '4 Nations Cup' in February, he & they would get absolutely lambasted & criticized by the media, fans & ex-players, for being a selfish player & placing himself in front of his country. It just wouldn't happen in Canadian hockey because the stars are all dying to represent Canada in that tournament! Sorry; but this soccer mentality non acceptable attitude makes me ill! Not to mention the fact that Canadian fans are paying their hard earned pay, expecting to see Canada's very best play at BMO field on the 19th... So disappointing on so many levels!!!
When was the last time mcdavid played for team Canada? Mind you there is a hockey world championship EVERY year and Canada mostly send it's C or D tier players every year because all the big players does not want to play for Canada in that competition and want to play in the NHL. May be do some research before commenting things like this.
@@MehakSohi-g8r, Lol, you know full well that championship that you are referring to, which by the way, is called the World Championships & it is hosted by the IIHF & it's always held in Europe, is absolutely not an A grade championship at all. It is only for the minimum amount of teams that don't make the playoffs. Generally Canada sends very young players for development purposes & some veterans to that tournament. Maybe you don't know that & it's you who should do some research before commenting. I simply said that McDavid would show up at the upcoming 4 Nations Cup & I did not talk about his past tournaments; but you were so anxious to criticize my comment that you didn't even read it properly. By the way, McDavid showed up for Canada in the juniors every time. He made it known that he wanted to play for Canada instead of the young guns in the last big international tournament played before Covid. He has also made it known that he is very excited to play in the upcoming 4 Nations cup. You are grabbing at straws to try to defend soccer, when you know that I am right. Fine, if you want a hockey Superstar who played in more International games in the past, use Crosby as an example, or any other Canadian star over the years, for that matter. The principle of my main argument remains the same.
Always appreciate the interactions and comments! Love seeing discussions like this but I do have to say I don't overly agree with this take. I find it extremely difficult to compare football(soccer) to hockey in this context. I will say from my point I am not a hockey fan and don't completely know the whole International hockey schedule. But from when I used to watch I do remember that hockey has very few International games or major tournaments. When I think of International hockey with team Canada the only games I recall would be Olympics and now the 4 nations. While in football (soccer) you see multiple International breaks throughout the club season. As their has already been two windows and entering the third of the club season and the next in march. As well having a major International tournament at the end of every club season. As in hockey the season is never broken up to allow players the opportunity to play for their nation almost every couple of months. So that gives footballers the opportunity to play for their country a lot more than hockey players. I am not saying that makes call ups less important I am just saying they just get a chance to play for their nation more often and when players are at the top level they potentially will want a weeks rest or spend time with their family as well. Which I would never hold any of those reasons against a player. I will say it's extremely harsh to hold this against most players but especially Alphonso Davies. I don't think we have seen many players wear the Canadian kit with more pride before. The joy and excitement he shows on the pitch especially after scoring or winning a crucial game or even streaming Canada qualifying for the World Cup. Davies does everything he can for this Canadian national team. Also footballers as in Phonzie sense play a full 90 minutes sometimes 3 times a week. So I definitely won't say it's not fatigue as we also have to remember Davies is still very young and has already had plenty of injury problems in his career so far. It definitely is a very interesting topic and discussion to bring up though. I also will possibly make a video on it as I think it is really a topic to think about but a fun one as well. Appreciate the support on the channel as well!
thanks for actually making canadian content bro
Of course really appreciate it! Don’t think theres enough out there and want to make the best content for Canadian football. Glad to hear your enjoying the content.
I’d join u if I could, hahaha… ¡vamos 🇨🇦 c***jo, sí se puede ahí!!! 💪🏿💪🏿
@ontherise- for sure, usa soccer coverage laps us so hard
Completely agree! With how much Canada soccer has improved the coverage needs to be larger for sure.
Why not called, there?? 🤔🤔
Great question it puzzles me as well that he didn’t get a call up this window. Perfect opportunity to cap tie him.
Yoooo I love ppl that have channels. just to talk about Canada soccer
Really appreciate hearing that! Glad you were able to find the channel. Got lots of content coming on the channel as well.
I like your 5 points summary! Just one comment or correction (Sorry, as I wish that I could text this to you privately)... You used the phrase "with the likes of" several times, when you were simply naming specific players. That saying only makes sense when you are listing a player as an example of many. For example: This squad has a lot of terrific talent, with the likes of Moise Bombito & Ismael Kone... In your cases today, you should have simply named the players.
Appreciate that glad your enjoy the videos always appreciate all the comments! No need to apologize there always learning and got to get rid of my crutch words for sure it’ll come. Just one of those sayings or words I don’t realize I use but I got it. Cheers!
No Adekugbe?!
I was very surprised to not see Adekugbe as well! But I do think Marsch sees Laryea and Ahmed as great back up options for Davies.
¡Vamos 🇨🇦 c****jo, sí se puede ahí!!! 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Kamal seems like the easiest choice right now. But I think JKL might be closer to seeing action just cause the Cap-Tie IMO.
I definitely could see that happening as well! I feel like JKL has a better chance of coming on as a sub like we saw Marsch do against Panama with Waterman. Now with Davies out feel like the experience of Miller might be leaned to more as well.
@@ontherise- I think of it this way when he needed another CB to sure the back line in competitive games he chose Kamal, so i think thats the choice
Yeah Kamal will probably be the preferred choice this window. As long as we can find time to cap tie JKL as well then it's perfect.
keep making content man
also you actually think shoa will make the team for qf?
Aye really appreciate it! Comments like these are a massive reason for starting it. Glad you enjoy the content.
I don’t think Shola will make the final squad tomorrow. Unless he extremely impresses Marsch during training camp. Im also sure that Shola will be getting lots of trials and opportunities abroad in the off-season.
Infuriating that he wasn't called up in October. They had an expanded roster cos they'd do the training camp in Montreal, why not get a look at him?
It's very confusing why Luka never got a call up or even a call from Jesse Marsch. But now we just have to turn our attention to Promise David as Canada can't lose him.
Disappointing
Definitely agree! Hopefully Luka doesn't get minutes and cap tied.
In most circles he is known as Promise David. I originally thought that you were referring to a different player; but I would have been surprised if there had been another player with the first name of 'Promise'. Which name does he prefer to use? He is an impressive young player. 17 goals in 18 matches with his previous team is quite the stat! His journey to get to this point, shows that he has a great deal of character. He appears to have the size, speed & goal scoring ability to be very successful. He is a dual national (Nigeria); but he is leaning towards Canada, partially because of all of our team's recent success. It would be terrific if he could be added to our Canadian team's Striker depth.
Yeah I can definitely understand why you might have thought I was talking about someone else. I do usually refer to Promise as David but for some supporters they might not yet know who he is so I wanted to say Akinpelu in case younger or newer Canadian supporters wanted to check his stats out. Promise has such an exciting profile and skill set that would really suit Marsch style of play. Also with Ugbo looking out of the picture right now it is amazing to see Canada have so many options. I also think Promise is leaning to Canada due to the connection with the country and also our recent success of course. But Nigeria striking options are incredible with arguably the best choices and depth in word football.
Where’d he play before? And when did he move to Celtic 😅
Alistair Johnston joined Celtic from CF Montreal in the MLS in January of 2023.
Canada is kinda underrated in football
Way to underrated a lot of hidden talent in the country.
His dad was my teacher
That's so cool! Should've tried to get a jersey from him lol
I think you can start him, but to me he’s the first player off for me. And I’ll always be calling for a midfielder.
Yeah I still believe a 3 man midfield is best suited for our player pool as well. But Larin still has some very good strengths to his game it will be very interesting if Bair plays well in Ligue 1 to see what Marsch does.
Why do you usually pronounce Kyle Larin's name like everyone else & other times pronounce it "Lareen"? In this video alone, you switched back & forth multiple times. BTW, I agree with you regarding Larin & the main proof of this is how much Jesse Marsch plays him as a starter.
The only reason I cut in and out sometimes is just because of when he scored for Valladolid a few years ago. The commentator went wild saying Lareeeen. So it’s just always stuck in my head as it sounds better lol. But will polish up on pronunciation. Yeah I think it’s mostly down to his pressing style of play and Marsch has really rewarded him with the game time. Only thing would change is it the goals dry up for Larin cause there’s so many options behind him now.
@@ontherise- , yes, but even when he wasn't scoring, Marsch loved his game & consistently started him.
Yeah I definitely agree! I feel like Larin if not scoring does so much off the ball to bring others into the game as well.
still would love to see a midfield 3 with kone ,choinere and esutaquio
I completely agree! A 3 man midfield of that quality would control the game over any side in Concacaf. I think the best option would be a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 I really hope we don't go back to a 5 or 3 back.
Very exciting news
Agreed! Would be great to see another exciting Canadian make the jump to Europe.
Europe yes League? Id say Belgian league or maybe a mid table Portuguese team. I think his skillset would be greatly used in those 2 leagues.
Yeah those would be great leagues to make the jump into Europe. It would be very interesting to find out which clubs have already shown interest in him.
