Demo - McNelly Stagger Swagger Pickups
Переглядів 2 тис.4 роки тому
A demo of the Stagger Swagger P90 pickups from Tim McNelly compared to two other guitars. In this video I intentionally used minimal effects to allow the sound of the pickups to be clear. I tried to play in different positions on the neck; used a variety of chords, melodies and leads; used different pickup positions (neck and middle); and used the volume knob to clean up the tone, Equipment/Gea...

Atomic Ampli-Firebox Demo
Переглядів 6475 років тому
My first play through with the Atomic Ampli-Firebox. Literally plugged it in, spent a few minutes flipping switches and turning dials to find an "edge of breakup" tone that I really like. The recording is 100% from the pedal. Nothing has been added in my DAW.

Nicely done, Rick! - Wes

Sounds great, Rick! Blessings on your new surroundings!
Wow amazing tone! What is your rig?
Thanks! My main rig has been Fractal Audio for a long time... either the Axe-FX III or the FM9.
@@rbjamn4jc thanks for swift reply! Subscribed! Great stuff!
Hey Rick Brand, yours RV-5 sounds awesome. What year is yours? Bought one but mine sounds soo thin and the decay doesnt hold as much as yours. Thanks!!
Not certain... I bought it used, so I'm guessing 2014 or 2015.
@@rbjamn4jc Nice, if it's okay could you confirm yours serial number? Mine is L6E4575
Great playing! Any worship leader would be happy to have you on stage with them!
Nice job, Rick! Sounds great
Excellent!! One of my favorite Journey tunes!
Killing it! Love it!
Nicely done! Neal Schon is one of my original guitar influences.
He's a beast... very melodic. He can shred, but also creates very tasty melodies.
Is that Alvin, Simon, or Theodore on vocals? :p I just love what mulitracks does to vocals in other keys.
Hey! That's not a red Sparkle Jet! :p
These are great cables ONCE YOU LEARN HOW TO MAKE THEM. And its frustrating at first. It was for me, but I'm glad I applied myself until I learned. These are the "Tightrope" edition. I learned on the first version that has 3 pieces which are a little harder to make, but look exactly the same when finished. The 3rd piece is an 'inner grounding sleeve'. It appears they've found a way to permanently fix it into the plug on the 'Tightrope' edition. I'm assuming that is where the 'half turn before applying the cap' comes into play. Excellent instructional video. Thank you.
Very nice! Is that just the amp sim and the guitar (no extra effects added)? Something about Gretsch and EL84 amps really speaks.
Which pickups are in this one? Stock Elliott p90s?
Yes, stock pickups (Elliott P90s).
I've got a Living Tone Omega Jr. 22 built in an old Crate Cabinet...
I'd be interested in seeing this done with the fm9 to see how it compares. Even though similar the depth is missing in a pretty noticeable way in some of the examples. The model is thin. I wonder if an eq match could fix it? Would be great if we had some eq matched irs to add in somehow
I hate both these pedals hahah. However, if you run an original (v2) MG in to an Boss OD-3 set low gain you literally get cranked plexi compression and attack. The best drive tone I've found to date..
You couldn’t dial them a bit closer? My Timmy clone sounds way better
🔥
DO NOT BUY LAVA CABLES!!! VERY POOR QUALITY. EVEN WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE. SAVE YOUR MONEY. 👎👎👎
I have the first one of these Omegatone's Mark ever built. It's 100w of pure madness
What pickups did you get?
Popes
Yo!!! Good stuff Rick!
Love this Rick! Thanks for putting together some Veritas goodness 😀
Thanks a lot. Good to know that we can use dpc-8ez in manual mode and that midi commands send by the controller (here DPC-5) will overload current dpc-8ez loop states. I was looking for this info for several days 😅
Morning Glory sounds more articulate and crisp.
I want one just because of the sliders lol
Do those pedals both push your amp overdrive? I've got a morning glory and it has WAY less distortion on noon setting.
Yes. Look at his volume knob. The morning glory has a lot of volume and he’s pretty high on it so it’s definitely pushing his amp
Are you using CC or PC messages to change presets?
MIDI PC messages from a Mastermind PBC/6X
Hey Rick, how do you like the stagger swaggers compared to a traditional p90?
Good question and not one that I'm sure that I can answer. I play mostly guitars with humbuckers. I have an Elliott Tonemaster with P90s, but my understanding is that these are nothing like a "traditional P90". I put Stagger Swaggers in the Suhr JM Pro because I felt that the stock pickups form Suhr were a bit dark and wooly compared to what I wanted. I do feel that the Stagger Swaggers sit nicely between a humbucker and a single coil in terms of output, noise, clarity, etc...
Would you consider selling it?
As much as I like my Thornbuckers, I’m really digging the Stagger Swaggers! What’s the Axe FX amp/signal chain are you using?
Morgan AC20 amp and an IR of the Morgan cabinet (from Larry Mitchell).
Great video man! Thanks for the demo!
Please share some presets so I can learn how to use delay on this thing :D
At last, a demo with that f**kng PXL which stars directly with playing and ends with playing..Although it's just one switch at all, but still ..nice demo.
Praise God! God Has Used You To Inspire Me. Shalom, My Brother.
worshipped along with you, bro... thank you!
Sounds good!
Great vid dude
Nice!
Sweeeeeet!!!! Love your delay!!!!!!!!!
i like the MG much cleaner than the Fuzzy Timmy.
I still feel while things are tonally similar, the real thing has more interesting of a sound (call it dimension or width or harmonics or just how it fill the speakers or headphones). The low end is more defined and less boxy on the real pedal as well. My compromise at the moment is to use AX8 for live small gigs which is convenient and avoids having to pedal dance, but for recording I still use the real thing.
Shine!!!
Nice. What amp are you using?
n u can control the kemper with this as well with midi did u know that?
Hey man this sounds really good and very close. would you mind sharing the settings? You seem to be the only guy I know of thats been able to tackle this effect where everyone else said the Pitch block couldn't do it! Thanks!
Thanks. I will try to get something posted soon. It's been a while since I fired up the AX8.
@@rbjamn4jc Great! I'll keep an eye out for it.
Very helpful. Do you know if the midi controls works the same as if you only had the DPC-5
Thanks. It should all work the same on the DPC-5. In my example, the DPC-8 was just another device that was receiving MIDI commands from the DPC-5.
