      Kolak Performance and Off-road in Arizona. I bought the tip on eBay and saved a little money as it is an option on his kit. I also paid a local exhaust shop to weld it all up. Very pleased overall. 602-952-1043

    Could you list the part numbers to the Magnaflow Cat, Flowmaster 50SUV Muffler, Tip? Also if I go to an exhaust shop what should I say to them about the passenger side down pipe? Thanks

      Talk to Kolak Performance for the specifics. I think I had the shop put in a 2” down pipe to replace the factory one on the passenger side. I think that was in the instructions in the kit. I don’t have the part numbers.

    Is there a trick to get it to work with 10-round Sig Sauer P220 magazines? It appears to be about 3/8-1/2" too short to successfully load 10 round mags.

    • @rickeads6160
      @rickeads6160 6 років тому

      Sam Costanza , good question. These were 8 round 220 magazines so I would surmise the mechanical length differences of a 10 round Mag might cause a problem. I have only 8 round magazines.

    This problem wasn't due to the fuel pump. It was likely due to a marginal crank position sensor and the fact that the PCM, due to lack of electric power, lost it's timing information. I did get the jeep running. I did replace the PCM and it's been running fine since (knock on wood), now a daily driver still in 2017.

    I have same exact problem. is their a way I can buy one PCM and have no problems with it?

    • @rickeads6160
      @rickeads6160 7 років тому

      In theory yes. In practice, it'll take four. O'Reily's has a 12 month warranty on their PCMs so you can swap marginal PCM's at no cost (other than your time and the hassle factor). Before you do that though, I recommend you start with maintenance first. Thus, clean all your grounds down to shiney metal. Clean batt terminals. Check/replace/charge battery. Check coil wires/connections. Check/replace pickup coil in the distributor. Check/replace crank sensor. Replace cap/rotor/plugs/wires. Check/replace fuel pump relay. Check/replace fuel pump. This all makes sense to do regardless of the cause and brings your jeep up to a known condition. If all of this does not eliminate the ghost you are chasing, then it's time to start looking at the PCM. In my case, I literally chased this ghost for years. My son was the principal driver and was living out of state so I only saw the jeep once or twice a year. The last time I drove 12 hours with a truck and a trailer because I didn't trust it nor the condition it was in. Once it was back in my hands I went to it. I also did the timing chain, water pump, radiator, hoses and other unrelated but neglected maintenance items (including a trick new exhaust). This video was posted in 2015. It's coming up on almost two years of mostly trouble free operation. In my case, the true root cause appeared to be a faulty PCM (multiple ones actually). After the 2nd bad one, I was ruthless with O'Reily's. I ended up having to wait for about 2 weeks until an ordered PCM arrived. What I would do with each new PCM would be to plug it in and let the jeep idle in my garage for 30 minutes. Sometimes, it would make it about 10 minutes before quitting. Then I'd drive the jeep around the neighborhood for about 10-15 minutes. If no issue, then I'd increase the orbit, keeping a sharp eye and ear out for any hiccups. Well, I'm happy to report that since 2015 it's been pretty smooth sailing. Before I actually fixed it though, it was one big pile of frustration. My jeep is a 2nd owner vehicle with me being #2 and my old college roommate being #1. I know its history. It's been very well cared for and now has over 270,000 miles on it. I picked it up with 140K on the clock. I have certainly gotten my money's worth out of it and much much more, despite that last haunting.

      mine does this exactly. when the engine light doesn't come on at all it will just turn over and over but when the engine light comes on and comes off like its suppose to it would fire right up. But shortly after the engine light would flicker and stall and wouldn't give me a solid engine light to work off of. to restart I let it idle at one time and I went to the PCM and wiggled the connecters and it stalled. So I was thinking it was a short in a wire somewhere because it would work and not work depending on the connection of the engine light. So this problem could be from the crank sensor to a bad wire you are saying but I have had this issue going on for 5 months and when I would drive it I would get stuck somewhere and i would have to wait until the engine light wanted to work again and that would take from 15 mins to an hour of waiting. my relays would also click on the auto shutdown under the hood and would stop and the engine would click showing the PCM is sending a message to the engine to start. Witch usually works most of the time but I still get the same problem of stalling very bipolar like a shorted wire.

    • @rickeads6160
      @rickeads6160 7 років тому

      Yes. These are also low current electronics, so if you have a marginal connection in the harness or ground, you can also get intermittent behavior. Unfortunately, it's often not as simple as saying replace the PCM and run with it. It may not be one single thing but the effect of a number of marginal elements. Based on my experience it does sound like yours is a PCM issue primarily. Nevertheless, I would still recommend starting with maintenance first. For the electrical connections to the PCM, I use a tooth brush and marvel mystery oil and brush the contacts on the PCM and the harness after spraying them down with electrical contact cleaner. I use fresh washers on the ground bolts and then coat them with dialectic grease. If you replace the crank sensor and/or the pickup coil (which rarely fails), do so with genuine mopar parts. The Mopar crank sensor isn't cheap and is a bitch to replace but again, it sets a known baseline. Yeah, I hated getting stuck waiting for the thing to reset so I could start it and drive it again. The good news is that when it runs for you it runs well which bodes well, if you manage to track down and eliminate the ghost.

    • @rickeads6160
      @rickeads6160 7 років тому

      I'd also check/replace that auto-shutdown relay. Again, use a mopar part. Keep spare relays in your glove box or center console.

    One problem is that they coated our pcm boards in a rubber like coating unlike later models so very few are actually rebuilt. Im having this problem now.

    • @rickeads6160
      @rickeads6160 7 років тому

      I cleaned all connectors and grounds. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, basically maintenance first. Over the course of a year I went through 4 PCMs. I read it takes about four attempts to find an actual PCM that is good. It's been running well since. Do, do all the maintenance first. Then be prepared to go through a few PCMS. Most come with A 12 month warranty. Good luck!

    • @rickeads6160
      @rickeads6160 7 років тому

      It took 4 Cardone PCM replacements to find one that worked. #1 was OK for about 800 miles then would randomly miss and then quit. #2 worked for almost a year but would periodically kill the engine at stop lights. #3 is what is shown in the video. I showed it to O'reilly's and they promptly ordered #4. That was over a year ago and it's been running well since.

    It's been about 5 months since the last PCM (#4) was put in service. The Cardone unit had a 12 month warranty from O'Reiley's which was helpful. Over the summer I put new plugs, wires, cap, rotor on it. I replaced the tranny fluid and filter, put new brakes on it and replaced all the shocks and installed a new air filter. I upgraded the exhaust to a Kolak 3" system with a flowmaster muffler and replaced the Y pipe in the front with a custom unit that had no crush on the passenger side. So far, it's running well. If you've gone through everything else (grounds, connections, battery, CPS and cam sensor, etc), there may be a good chance your PCM is bad and a "new" one may not be "new" or may introduce other problems.

    I had this happen to my '94 GC but there's an easy fix. Take the battery cables off and just touch them together. This will reset the computer security program. Your headlights should start flashing once you reattached the cables to the battery. To turn off the flashing lights, just lock your driver's side door, then unlock it - the lights will go off and the car will start...
