Shooting the 1841 Mississippi Rifle
I have a Mauser 1893 7x57, similar to this one. It was used by the Brazilian Army. Known as the Spanish Mauser.
C'mon both you guys are old enough to know you can't correctky shoot a 1911 "tums forward" were either of you ever in the military?
When I arrived at Ft. Hood, TX from (West) Germany in 1985 I was issued a Remington Rand 1911A1 as my PDW. I was an M1 Abrams MBT TC and later Platoon Sergeant. In Germany I was issued a Singer produced 1911A1, and before that at Ft. Knox, KY it was a Remington produced 1911A1 that found a place in my "Tankers" shoulder holster.
I owned 2 of those, and had a carbine knicknamed " buckin bronco " with that ammo. I had 50 boxes of it.... It was extremly accurate and loaded STOUT. In the long rifle it was much easier shooting. The bores were oversized at .330. Regular 8mm would keyhole in them. Hornady made is in a soft point loading with reloadable brass as well as PPU brand.its a veryyyyyy uderestimated caliber and rifle design... Great video sir.. Thsnks for sharing. Also...those sites were very cumbersome. My 2 rifles and my ammo went to a collector who still owns it. I bought the ammo when century international arms, ( CANADA ) for 3.95$ a box !!!! My carbine was 40$ My long rifke was 29.95$ i kid you not. Was in 1995. The last yr they were open...also a #4 lee enfield irish contract IN GREASE 229$ ... I still have a #4 ...not the irish one Wonderful rifles.
Very nice rifle
push the rear barrel band down and push the cleaning rod in all the way and it should stop falling out :)
A gun of my greatgrandfather!
May be a set trigger. That would explain the heavy pull
Tenho uma igual top
Fun video. When he said he hadn’t shot it before without ammo I was thinking ow wee 😂 but then I noticed it was the rifle that the car be. I bet you that’s pretty pleasant to shoot out of a rifle.
this is a rifle not a gun sony...lol
That ammo is old and corrosive. Don't forget to wash out that chamber and barrel or else it will rust over night.
I got rid of my 8x56r rifles and went with the 8x50r rifles. I can use 8x54 r mosin brass and reload.
That's the rifle that got me into reloading.
The cartridge is the 8x56R - the 'R' is important becasue there is another 8x56 round; the 8x56 Mannlicher Shonauer which is a completly diffrent rimless round. ALL of the converted rifles are referred to as either 1895/30 or just M95/30 - the long rifle, and both of the short rifles. There's a carbine, and a Stutzen rifle. Many short rifles started life as full length rifles originally chambered in 8x50R, they were later converted to short rifles and re-chambered for the 8x56R round. The round was originally created for the Steyr-Solothurn light machine gun as the M30 round.
Thanks for that good information.
My rifle
I lucked out on an M95 long rifle at my local shop with a bayonet. I already had the M95/34 version with two bayonets. Enjoyable to shoot. I discovered Steinel Ammunition makes new ammo with reloadable brass. What is funny about my long rifle is that I actually bought it for the bayonet because someone on a gun forum was hunting desperately for an m95 bayonet with scabbard. Sold the bayonet and that money covered the cost of the long rifle purchase. 😂😂 Still have another bayonet for the m95 and another for the m95/34. Both like the Hornady, PPU, and Steinel stuff much better. Great video.
I bought a lot of milsurp bayonets in the late 1960s till the late 1980s. I can’t believe some of the prices people are willing to pay for matching bayonets and sheaths. It’s taken me decades to collect the dang rifles to go with the bayonets.
I got the og one chambered in 8x50mmr impossible to get ammo for
Steinel Ammunition makes new ones. Also OldSouthAmmo. Steinel is a lot cheaper and reloadable.
@@prdubi I’m pretty sure it’s 8x50mm lebel steinel makes not 8x50mmr Austrian
@senatuspopulusqueromanus5626 looks like I spoke too soon. They were testing 8x50R Austrian and I was pretty sure it was out now.
I salute his guns 💪🏼 but if I may, it’s not THAT expensive
The ammo and end block clips are nicely marked. Hard hitting loads.
Awesome piece i used to fumble with my grandpas guns, bayonets. when he was away not m95 but old bolt actions always catch my eye.👋from sc
Nice. Got the cut-down rifle, sure like to find the full length one.
“This is a close range gun” Not ‘that’ close… ua-cam.com/video/oreHdwD0V5c/v-deo.htmlsi=fqd6aCgRsoLJhTt_

Eso que muestras es un Mauser Oviedo y lo usaban principalmente los republicanos, es un modelo de 1917 y el cerrojo que tiene no es el original el original tiene la manija recta
M1917? Were the .308 models rechambered or original?
Several M1916 and similar models have been rechambered in 1950s to 7,62x51 CETME (not NATO). Some of them were adopted by the Guardia Civil and have the Crest on the receiver (I own one of these). The CETME is a reduced pressure version, around -10000psi, of the NATO specs.
CHILDREN PLAYING WITH GUNS
Y'all would be fun to hang out with 👍🏽
Interesting setup. Looks like a private range….just odd
Glad you enjoyed it!
That’s the way the gun was designed. Inserting the mag releases the slide. It’s functioning properly
This video is awesome; I loved it!
I have a question. For some reason I cannot release the slide on my Mauser HSC without inserting a mag. Any ideas what could be wrong?

@@dmwgunvideos2045 How strange, the manual that came with it shows that you can release it by pulling back on it. Could it be a manual for a newer version of the gun or something?
@@AlcatrazIsland5 not sure. I have two of these and they both operate the same way. Sorry I can’t be of more help

I guess the conversion makes sense, brass caps are easier to make than flint is to find. I mean, you ever try finding flint? It's very hard!
Arma do Hitler? Os alemães eram muito bons em engenharia bélica.
I love your videos. Keep the black powder content coming please.
You better wear your tennis shoes in case you miss
All I can think of is... John Candy. I can perfectly imagine John Candy playing either part.
Got it in the end boys 😂
Beautiful rifle.
Beautiful
Good video, thank you.
Beautiful 1836 .54 caliber pistol.
Are you only allowed 5 round magazines in Chicago ?
Well that was just so I could practice switching magazines. They are always trying to screw with gun owners though
9" high at 5 foot, might need the sights set, sure would not like to be hit by it, safest place might be in front.
They are beautiful rifles. I have the 1891, 1909, and a 1909 Artillery Carbine. My Carbine was made in Argentina under liscense from Mauser. Nice bayonet. They were still teaching bayonet drills when I was in the US ARMY 1968-1971. I have the 1891 and 1909 bayonets, but not the brass handled ones. I also have an Argentine RRB Rifle in .43 Spanish that I reload for. Thru some miracle, I found the correct bayonet for the RRB with the help of a cyber friend in Buenos Aires. It is a very long yatagan style made in Germany. Sometimes a simple twist of fate happens.
