24 bit is clearly (pun intended) the winner However i'm suprised how well the audio held up to 8bit and was shocked how fast it fell off at anything less.
I wonder how the 8 bit recording is made.8 bit have 256 level so it should be suffitient to get 120dB if encoding has logarytmic scale. I notice that the 8 bit recording much higher bacgraund noise. So it propably use some liniar decymation like removing avery third bit from 24 bit scale. If I am correct the whole dB sale is base on human hearing caspability where we can not differetiate power that is smaller then 1 dB. That scale is logarytmic so the decimation shoul be logarytmic. I thing audio compression take adventage of that.

Exactly! As well as the 16 bit recording, that's the reason why many audiophile persons prefer 24 bit and higher sampling rate. Probably in 10 years they just accept 32bit😂 Ok in kidding! But right at 8 bit noise is perceivable
They all sounded basically the same until 4 bit came lol.
On good headphones and a separate amp/dac you can easily hear the difference. The noise floor and distortion dramatically increase, even from 24 down to 16 bits.
@@Temazinedo you really need a dac? can't you just use ldac headphones and an ldac phone for 24 bit music?
