My wife bought me comics!!!

My wonderful wife recently went to San Diego to visit her friends and the two of them were kind enough to stop by a comic shop for me and grab some books they thought I'd like. Man did they hit a homer on this and I can't believe some of the Fantastic Four books they grabbed in the 4 for $10 bins! Plus Matthew shows off some recent purchases and more.

Yes, David Donovan, the man behind HurriCon in East Rockaway, NY is here to tell us why you should support this bi-annual comic art convention. It's easy: proceeds from the show go directly to the Bethany Congregational Church, where the show will be held tomorrow (7/20/24) and one of the community's relief centers during Hurricane Sandy. Here's another reason: past guests Keith Williams and Ph...

I had no idea Bill was Nostagiaferatoo. I love him (Nostalgiaferatoo) on Svengoolie, and on a recent episode he said something not in his usual character's voice and I said "what a minute, he sounded like Bill on Toon in with Me." 😄😄

Wow wonderful additions to your collection, Oren! What if is always fun. The Invisible Girl issue is one of the best of the entire run. You're gonna love it! But I want to talk about those Avengers comics! They're fantastic early 80's issues! Perez drew 202, I think. 217 is from Jim Shooter's much-maligned second run on the title. But I tell you, it hit me hard as a teenager and I still count it among my very favorite issues of all time. 220 is stellar also with Bob Hall art. I'd love to know what you think about those Avengers issues.

I really enjoy the three additions to Sven's show, but especially Bill's, "Nostalgiaferatoo." Bill, where did you get your inspiration from for your character? It reminds me of the wrestling interviews from the early 70's. The Crusher. Mad Dog Vachon. Baron Von Raschke, etc.

This was a great interview. I really enjoyed it. The stories were fun & I learned so much about Bill from this. I have to agree about the Johnny Quest toys. The Wacky Races & later Dick Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines was absolutely fantastic. I had a pair of Wacky Races pajamas as a kid which had every car from the show. The one thing that always bothered me was Dick Dastardly would cheat, & he would get in trouble for it, but when any other driver would cheat it was okay. I really felt for Dick Dastardly because of it. Also, the fact that he brought up talking fish & Don Knotts in the interview & never bring up The Incredible Mr. Limpet. Anyway, I hope you guys have a great day & thanks for the great interview. T.T.F.N. (Tah Tah For Now) Richard "Rowdy Rich" Lanford 3533 Fairburn Pl. N.W. Atlanta, Ga. 30331
