Alternator replacement on gen 1 b58
My alternator pully on my 2018 440i F32 BMW decided to stop working after about a week of hearing a weird noise coming from under the hood. I assumed it was the idler pully but I soon found out that wasn't the case when the pully snapped off the alternator and the whole accessory belt came off. this was the easiest way i could find to take off the alternator. Full disclaimer I'm not a mechanic but I've done plenty of car repairs in my garage and when i went to search how to replace an alternator on this car on UA-cam to see what id be getting myself into i was shocked to find no videos on how to swap it out, I decided to make my first UA-cam video so that what ever garage DIYer in the future needs help with this job they can look to this video and see how i did it or ask me questions in the comments, you are welcome.

Oh you mentioned upgrading the oil filter housing. Do you have a link to the replacement part? I was looking at some and it seemed to not have matching holes for the oil and coolant to flow like the plastic housing does 🤔

@@sawd1 This is the one I bought and I’m going to get oem gaskets I heard that sometimes the gaskets shipped with these kits aren’t the best so I’m just gonna buy my own

Nice video, can you tell us the miles and what causes your alternator to fail next video? Looks like a lot of work on a BMW, how was changing the alternator on your other cars?
About 40k miles and I’m not sure what caused the pulley to fail on the alternator to be honest. I’ve only seen one similar occurrence in the bmw forums online and they didn’t say what made theirs fail either.
