Crazy Mid-October hunting in OHIO | Hunting a mock scrape
Where do I start?! This is my 3rd hunt of the year. What an awesome hunt! My first hunt in Ohio this year on my own property and it didn't disappoint! My dad and I were sitting over a mock scrape I had made just a week prior to the hunt! The action started quick with some does coming off the power line feeding on some acorns, coming into my mock scrape and staging area. This lead to several groups of does coming in range through-out the night, and it ended with a 4 pointer coming in following some does and hitting my mock scrape. I was hoping to see one of the 2 year old 8 points I have on camera just to get some good film of them, but maybe next time! The hard work on this property is starting to pay off! If you've seen my previous videos on property you've seen the transformation! I'm really hoping to harvest my first mature buck off this property this year and my dad too. Food plot, mock scrape, blinds and stands, and making trials has made this property more buck friendly and it's starting to show.
Thank you guys so much for watching

Mid-October hunting in WV | Fixing feeder issue & some does!
Переглядів 18314 годин тому
Well I take a surprise unplanned trip to my uncles Property in WV that I hunt to fix my feeder. I accidentally set the time of the feeder to go off at 4:30 AM instead of PM so all my deer have been showing up in the dark…. Not good! So I decided to make the haul down and get this problem fixed before we get deeper into the season! While I’m down there I figure I might as well hunt too if I’m go...

Setting up a FEEDER in my CLOVER PLOT!
Переглядів 69Місяць тому
Should you put a feeder in a food plot? Well I'm gonna find out! I've been avoiding doing this for almost 2 years now. I always thought this would take away from the food plot itself and defeat the purpose of even having the plot there. I ended up having a couple extra feeders and I decided to just go ahead and give this a try this year. What's the worst that can happen? It's more food on the p...

      At this place these deer don't hardly see people and not a lot of people hunt around, so I actually had deer come within the first 5 hours of setting it up. Now on my property back home in OH where every neighbor hunts, It takes about 3-4 days maybe a week before i start seeing some usage from the feeders. I still don't have any consistent shooters showing up yet! But i's still very early in the season

    I see you are drawing with elbow low. Honestly, it’s hard on your shoulder joint. Been there done that! Long ago lowered my draw weight and made myself draw elbow up. Not crazy up but high as my ear. This sets up the back muscles clavicle etc for using the back muscles to pull thru the shot. Nearly every top archer pulls thru. Kyle Douglas and Tim Gillingham are two trigger “ commanders?” which is really punching. I’m telling you this because you’re young and open minded about things like this it’s obvious. I’m 74 years old and have been shooting for 50+ years- seen it all and tried nearly everything. The ability to pull thru the shot with ANY release will make a world of difference.

    • @ethanregan
      @ethanregan Місяць тому

      what style release do you or did you shoot? I've thought about trying a thumb again, but I just cannot get comfortable with it!

    • @timbow50
      @timbow50 Місяць тому

      @@ethanregan I am using the Carter Wise Choice thumb. I went to a thumb as an experiment five years ago. It’s set zero travel with enough tension to locate the knob and set my thumb on it without it firing. I got started with it by blank bailing at 10 feet on a target up level with my drawn bow to get proper form. Shooting down toward the ground isn’t a good way for form. After I got broke in on using it went to 10 yards etc etc. It must be set where you can pull thru without moving the thumb. This will take a little while figuring out where you need to rotate the thumb knob for best feel and results.

  • @timbow50
    @timbow50 Місяць тому

    If it’s working for you that’s great. But, seriously please watch “ bow only outdoors “ learning vid on his trigger setup and use. You will need to get a release on an adjustable strap so it can be shortened enough to deeply hook the finger over the trigger. Zero travel with enough tension so you can set the finger without fear of it firing. What happens is you will learn to focus on the target spot and at the same you be pulling straight back with back muscles and NOT MOVING that finger. The tension will build and it will fire. Look at the Carter Quickie or the Stan Solex($99 at Podium archery). I use both and they are fully adjustable. Anyway, Good Luck!

    You’ve done a bunch of temporary fixes. Unfortunately your TP will come back until you can get in control of your shot and understand your process. I’d recommend looking into Joel turners shot IQ course.

    • @ethanregan
      @ethanregan Місяць тому

      I'll take a look into that course, If I start to "relapse" I'll be the first to let you know lol. I've gone on 2 years almost a 3rd now of not having TP and I'm feeling like I'm in complete control of my shot now, as the years have gone on it's just gotten better and better. These we're just steps I took to get to where I can repeat the same shooting cycle time after time.

  • @TD2821
    @TD2821 Місяць тому

    I would recommend shortening the release body a little bit more so you can actually wrap your index finder around the trigger to get more engagement. Add tension to the trigger so you can actively pull on it without the bow firing. This will help you stop punching.

If the money isn't a factor than I see no issue. .410 around my area is pretty hard to come by, and when it shows up on shelfs it's gone the next day!

    • @ethanregan
      @ethanregan 3 місяці тому

      No because I need a specific mix to help get the most out of whatever I choose to plant. Specifically clover you need something with low nitrogen so it’s much easier to get something in a bag that’s specific for my application. Now if I was doing like a small garden or part of a yard or something I’d consider it. Another thing with pellet fertilizer is you can fertilize a much bigger area with the amount you get.
