very well cared for I didn't know I had a brother that cares for his machine like me (compliment). These will increase in $ $ I dig factory weird ... If it were mine I would put a bigger tank and a slightly bigger saddle....those are bolt on mods and keeping the original parts of course.
You ever ride 1000 km with that seat ?
I regretted having to sell my XR with the factory race kit installed. Looking for another. CHEERS from AUSTRALIA.

I uncrated, serviced, rejetted , cranked and test drove the 1st XR-1000 that came to GSO NC. I picked the front wheel off the ground easily when I hit 4th gear and wasn't even full throttle. Had it up to 110 on neighbor roads. Took it back to the H-D dealer I worked at with a huge grin on my face because It was one fast mofo. I like the stock H-D supplied exhaust system much more than the one shown on this bike. Where's the original pipes?
I have the stoke pipes.
@@sonnysvintagecycles5227 Are those dual carbs the original dual Dellorto carbs the XR-1000 came with? When jetted for Milwaukee and shipped to NC, I had to re-jet and adjust them for the change in sea level.Dellortos are very good carbs, but have to be jetted correct. They are a bit more sensitive to change in altitude Imo than say an S&S Super B. Much better hi perf street carb for a Harley in the performance aspect, than a Mikuni or SU too IMO. The mounting can be tricky on regular Sportsters and Big Twins though. More expensive to go with too.
@@fireball1322 Original. Work like a charm. You need to know what you are doing when adjusting. These are dialed in like a Swiss watch.
So I'm rebuilding an 83 XR1000 and I need help out there people!!!!! Would someone with an XR1000 pop off the two little nuts that hold the speedo cover on and get me a picture of the information on the back of the speedo? Or if anyone has the part number, please let me know?
It’s the same speedo as the 83 Sportster.
