Here's an Orkney tune, "Inganess" on an Orkney hillside, watching a rain cloud pass over the island of Hoy and head further east. It was such a perfect afternoon, I played tunes outside for a while! It's World Play a Strathspey Day once again! I'm playing a tune from Orkney called "Netherbow" which was written by Jimmy Cragie. I'm headed to Sharon, Vermont this evening, to play at the Seven Stars Arts Center, with my brilliant band: Conor Hearn on guitar, Ethan Setiawan on mandolins and Brendan Hearn on cello. If you are in the area, come along! www.sevenstarsarts.org/louise-bichan-5-6-23....

Here's a tune I wrote last year, after we failed to find a trail in Alaska - "Sustinita Moose Trails." The view is of the Hoy hills, in Orkney, from the west side of the island. One of my favourite spots. Support Fiddlecam on Patreon: www.patreon.com/fiddlecam
Fiddle tune with a spectacular Orkney view!

It has been so lovely to spend some time home in Orkney recently! This afternoon was unexpectedly beautiful weather, so I grabbed my fiddle and cameras and headed up a hill. The tune I'm playing is one of Ethan Setiawan's - he has a brand-new record coming out on the 31t of March and this weekend he will be playing some shows in New England with a stellar cast of musicians; Darol Anger on fiddl...
Back in Scotland at last!
Переглядів 190Рік тому
After more than three years of not being able to go home to Scotland and see my family, I finally made it back this week! I managed to surprise my folks and Granny, who hadn't suspected a thing. Glorious! And Orkney pulled out all the stops with the weather. Here's a tune of mine at the old pier, "Ascania." I'll be back in the US at the end of the month for some shows - if you are in the Boston...

Tunes with friends in the pandemic in 2020, right as everyone started leaving Boston and this big ol' music house we used to live in. Thankfully it's full of musicians once again! The tune is one of Ethan's called "The Squirell Fell Down and Broke It's Legs" ..

Here's a video from the last time I was in Orkney - it's been well over three years now, waiting for US immigration to get things straight so I can leave the country! I miss Scotland so much and can't wait to be back again. The tune is one by Jarlath Henderson called the "Crackin' Fiddle." Support Fiddlecam on Patreon: www.patreon.com/fiddlecam

0 seconds ago This was spectacular to watch & listen to. I love most natural scenery but the cuts done in the Badlands & the Black Hills of South Dakota took me back to a place I dream of to this day. I stood in some of those spots exactly where you played. Thanks for the trip down memory lane to some great tunes.
Aw, thanks so much for saying so! What views, holy moly it was just the most spectacular trip!
Amazing

Hi Louise this is very beautiful. Well done! Do you remember me when we met in Orkney al those years ago! Judy Shephard xxx
Hello Judy! Thanks so much for saying so!!
Was in Stromness in 2019m. We had a terrific time and even walked up to where your video was captured. Thanks for the memories.
I love Stromness with all it's cobbled narrow streets and houses with their own piers! And the view from up this hill is magic!

Hello! I really want to visit Brazil some time!
The dugs dont know that path we shall have to find it.
There's a couple ways up, I just parked at the side of the road and there's a wee path up there somewhere, can't remember where!!
So glad to see you're still playing and posting! Happy tunes :)
Thank you! Definitely still playing lots, but finding less time to post videos, sadly! More coming though!!
I'm always so impressed by how you can walk and play AND have the camera up! This is my motivation to practice XD

Who knew you could all fit in there.
Teehee!
Amazing!
Thanks!
planning a long solo hike in the Italian apennines next year and I want to take the fiddle along (of course). Any tips for carrying it, plus all the usual stuff (tent sleeping bag etc.)?? Beautiful playing by the way :)
That's awesome! It's tough, I have tried this once and I wasn't the only person, so the camping gear got split between people. I have tried different ways of doing it, making the straps really long and putting the fiddle on over the top of my backpack, or having one long strap and one short one, having it to the side and sort of weaving the straps through my backpack straps (used to do this all the time when cycling with a backpack and fiddle.) I've also thought about just taking a really cheap fiddle and super cheap lightweight case, to cut back on weight. You could possibly strap it longways along the bottom of your backpack, like where some folks would put their sleeping pad!
Denali? Wow
The road is the old road that went to the National Park, 135 miles of dirt road!! Totally gorgeous and really forces you to slow down and take it all in!
Hello!!! I am from Brazil... I love your videos and I aways wanted to see you play Leave Her, Johnny from Assassin's Creed
