Just a couple of farmers doing a re-fit on a Beneteau racing sailboat-for cruising. She's a 1991 35s5. We? Are 30+ yrs organic farmers of veggies, fruit, makers of award-winning artisanal cheeses and yogurt (read: knows how to fix most things that go wrong on the fly-because farming is about everything breaking almost every day, sorta like sailboats).
I'm an Ex-pat part Hawaiian gal, he's a New Englander of strong old stock. We changed our boat name to my Hawaiian name, Pānānā. The name in translation represents the Hawaiian star compass and "knowing one's direction."
Not sure about that one, tho... stay tuned as we re-fit, sail, travel, complain and then laugh about it all. Our channel will mostly be short takes on farming, food and sailing! A bit of adventure and some DIY how-to's...Thanks for reading!

Late Summer sail on Lake Champlain, Vermont
Thank you. I'm glad I found this. I have a Beneteau Cyclades 39.3 and from the way the prior owner had the lines set up, I was puzzled about how they should be.
Though after a second look I don't see how the luff is being pull down while reefing.
LOL I looked this up to try and find out how to lock in the valve. hilarious you were like WTF too
Can it handle being healed over on one tack for extended periods? Like is it a good match for a cruising sailboat?
Yep. If it's securely located. Ours was and nothing moved or fell. OTOH, our dishes and other htings in cabin would be sloshed around or knocked over
hi… i want to buy one is this model good too? Tender Zodiac Cadet 310 Alu pagliolo in alluminio Thanks
Yes this is a good model
Have you noticed if turning off one side uses half the power or just a little less than both sides?
I actually don't know. We use both sides all together
how long its wit out air i have plan to byu one 320-360 and i have litim space in my elevator not in garage
Nice video and boat. Wondering how you like it so far overall? Thanks.
It's great! Had it a little over a yr and it works great
Dolly is savage!
Yes she is! :)
Fk superstition. I just wanted to know how to rename my boat
Then just rename your boat lol
Update: Year 2 and floor is doing great! Still looks beautiful.
Update July 2021: We have been using the unit on our boat for a few months and it's great! SO much room to fit bottles, cans, leftovers, meats, vegs etc. Lift out sections are great for organizing and separating foods. And on the freezer side, freezes ice FAST. Very quiet and dependable so far. Love it!
Is it still working great?, I’m thinking to buy bigger one the cfx3 95 duel zone for semi truck
@@Sloba1992 Yes we love it!
I did it with Stodoys.
I have this unit and the temp does not go below 10F when set to -2
Oh no! I have it set to 5 and it's at 5
Awesome work. I just read through your post on Jetboaters and your upgrade has been amazing! Some partners and I recently purchased a 1990 35S5 in similar condition to yours when you purchased it. We have a lot of projects in front of us including the teak replacement. Do you know the profile/shape the strips were cut to and what the thickness is? Ours are so worn that it is tough to tell what they should look like. And thanks for the mention of the facebook group...just joined.
Please re-ask to join the fb group. Your name was accidentally deleted. Thanks :)
Well! May we grow together in our respective channels
What size is this tender
10 feet 11 inches
Thanks a bunch
hypalon or PVC?
Hypalon
Thanks for sharing this video! I have a 1989 35s5 and plan on redoing these identical floors! Do you have the dimensions recorded? If so, would you mind sharing? I'd really appreciate it as that will save me a lot of measuring time!
Sorry the dimensions were each cut by hand-don't have a digital tool. And each boat will be different, as in our port side and starboard sides were not exactly the same. Also check out the Beneteau First S Series group on facebook (if you're on facebook).
Where did u order from?
Defender Industries
They really are great units!
Love it so far!
We bought the 45L size last year and it was great! We actually hard wired ours into the boat! We have it on a platform with drawer sliders to pull it out from under our helm seat in the salon. I made an insulated cover for it as well! Great product
Sounds great! I love that you were able to hard wire it to the boat :) I may make a cover as well, we shall see...
Despite me saying I didn't know measurements, they're posted in the description above! :)
interesting...i was concerned it would not fit down my stairs for winter storage...it looks like the packing is much bigger than the actual unit...thanks for sharing
Yes the packaging was very large compared to the actual dinghy. It does fully deflate except the aluminum hull which I don't know the width of that. I could measure that if you needed that info
Girl you’re FLYING!! So jealous but happy for you guys!
Yeah, that was back in Aug lol
Really like that the tiller can be manually adjusted to allow either left or right hand steering. Also this unit has no choke
what size dinghy is that? how does it handel a 15hp
@@elpimpi7135 it's 11 feet. Handles great!
Your boat's condition was as bad as my 32s5! Total respect to what you have achieved!
Thank you so much! Work in progress...
nice work - I have a 35s5 on Lake Ontario and need to tackle the same job soon
If you're on facebook there is a group for these models. facebook.com/groups/BeneteauFirst35s5/
Thank you!
👍🏼
Nice work mate
Thank you!
After 2 seasons on Lake Champlain we are setting sail South at the end of summer 2020, fair winds to you from fellow Canadians 🇨🇦
Oh bon voyage! Where are you on Lake Champlain in 2020?
Sailing Panana Nous sommes a Rouses Point upstate New York, on the hard until this white stuff melts. Starting July we will be full time live aboard
It won’t be long now. It never froze this year. Vous nous visitez si vous naviguez ici. Not sure if that’s right. Haha we’re in Burlington
Sailing Panana Nice, we sailed to Burlington twice last summer 👍🏼
We also changed our boat name, some say its bad luck, we are not superstitious, we wanted to boat to reflect us and not the previous owner
Old ugly dodger!
Nice job Willow! We're going to do the same in our cockpit later this year.
Hey Mike! Thanks so much for watching! :)
Ftr, I just did the video-he did the teak work ;)
First !!!!!!!!!!!
Do you know of them?
Teak was cut to length and all edges were shaped with a sander. Three coats of West System 105/207 epoxy were applied on all surfaces. Then three coats of Epifanes 2-part polyurethane in satin were applied for a final finish and UV protector.
for some reason UA-cam would not allow me to put the above in the description box.
Haha radio was on down below
buuuurgh! I hope you dont have any leaks!
No. Not anymore. Hoping to upload some footage of the window repairs and re-bedding. No more leaks onto the fridge! :)
@@sailingpanana4221 we just finished doing that on our boat, it was our last project video :)
