A loving lament for a dwindling resource. Oil we loved you dearly! Performed by the Newtown Neurotics, written by Steve Drewett, Published by Kristanner Music .
Better than The Clash
I must admit that I enjoyed going to see this live but I just couldn't get on with most of their recorded stuff for some reasons but, they were really good live.
somebody doesn't know about abiogenic oil
Wooooo we were all thinking this in the 80s.. now it’s effing true!!! Love Newtown Neurotics.. course, the powers that be just never take it seriously..
When the (Russian Gas) Runs Out
Utterly amazing.
Fantastic tune! We recorded a cover of it 23 years later. Which is already 16 years ago... scary :) Cheers! smalltown.bandcamp.com/track/when-the-oil-runs-out
I play this on my show along with Tower of Powers song of the same name
prophetic stuff / Punks not Dead
Manchester The Gallery 1984/5. Top band
1:19 So Whose album did he smash?
Saw them at the old tech college in Harlow were supporting the rezillos great times
Michael S. Thomas I bet you weren't around in the late seventies, or early eighties. We didn't give a fuck about anyone's hair- punk was punk.
Nice hair, it must of been a blessing to have chopped that off, it was gone by the time I first saw them in the early 80's.
0:56 there is a car trying to pass an people stoped it haha
Steve drewett
That Rickenbacker is not a Rickenbacker but a cheap copy, it cost a fraction of the price of the real thing. That's how a low earning punk musician affords an instrument.
Drewett is on the Ramones It's Alive LP sleeve
OY ! Don't you knock it unless you know it , Neurotics were allways good for me . These guys lived and loved a radical lifestyle . Still do from what I hear , so go see 'em live before you critise .
I miss the 80's. Nostalgia=Death I know...but c'mon!?!?!?! Best music. :(
@ClockworkFacility1 Maybe they win them in competitions,or a loyal fan buys them for them, someone might have left them in a will, they may have gone into a Rickenbacker shop begged, pleaded for one or offered to wash up the coffie mugs AND do the dusting in return for one,Maybe they prayed for fourty days and fourty nights for one.We just don't know,NOT everything has to be about money.
I just found their music a couple months ago in 2011 and have loved it ever since.
@chdnmphs What a load of crap. I suppose by commie you mean the right wing meaning of commie, i.e anyone to the left of me,which tends to be bloody everyone.
im guttted at 40,that ive just bothered my arse to find this gem of a band. fucking tremendous!!!
I'll buy a horse.
really clever song if the oil running out was really an accident. sorry commie.
what the fuck ARE you gonna do? bitch?!
Saw them at the Albany in Deptford last night and they played this. Awesomw!!!!
mark hall 6th form with atilla when harlow was emmm.......,steve drewitt had hair, animo and the acids followed by paul howard falling off stools at the square and grounded nurses,heaven........
haha never seen him with hair, well that much. i believe he's on the sleeve of the Ramones It's Alive album with long hair.
...what you gonna do when the hair falls out? :-)
Oi! Steve and I used to correspond back in the early '80's. Nice fellow. I still have the "When the oil runs out" poster he sent me. Nice to see they are still alive and kicking.
haha, i saw em live back when his hair was long, everyone was pissed cos thay thought he was a hippie.
Fucking great band! When the oils runs out... don't you worry you'll always have something to pay for... maybe water...?!?! CHEERS!
I loved writing to Steve Drewett back in the early '80's. He always sent me free stuff...posters, stickers, pins, etc. A respectable human, indeed!! Love the Neurotics til death.
Thank you, Steve! Daniel & Contingent
