AIBlocks is a platform for sharing knowledge about artificial intelligence and its potential to empower architectural design research and practice. We are a group of AI researchers who are passionate about design. We break down the latest academic papers, chat with industry leaders and designers about what’s happening out there, and share tutorials and lectures-covering everything from the basics of AI to the big ideas on how it’s shaping our homes, cities, planets, and beyond. Whether you’re an AI researcher curious about the application of AI in architecture, or an architect/architecture student, looking to dive into AI-driven and data-driven design, I think we have something here for you.
Please note that our content focuses on leveraging open-source AI models. It aims to introduce the building blocks of AI for you to create your custom AI-powered solution, using publicly available resources, rather than relying on pre-built AI tools available in the market.

Nathalie de Vries: Architectural Innovation and AI
In this episode of AI Blocks, host Seyran Khademi, an AI scientist engages in a thought-provoking conversation with Nathalie de Vries, an experienced architect, professor of public building, and one of the founding partners of the internationally acclaimed architecture and urban design practice, MVRDV. Together, they explore the integration of technology in architectural design, the role of AI in optimizing and innovating urban spaces, and the delicate balance between data-driven design and creative vision. Nathalie shares insights on MVRDV's approach to "multiplicity in design," the firm's groundbreaking use of data and AI, and the evolving relationship between architects and emerging technologies.
