Good report Rob, and nice to meet you both at the Nationals. With 8 Panthers and my 'Soviet swarm' tanks only having max AT 10 it was always going to be an uphill struggle against Jimmy, but great to see Panthers forming square....WWII Napoleonics anyone.? 😁

Looking at list 01, not using the M4 Sherman command card? I've made a similar except Vet Sherman HQ is one 75 and one 76. platoons are two 75s, one 76 and one Jumbo 76 for misdirect, All five Shermans 75s are M4A1s so my Vet Sherman Co is 60 pts which includes HVAP for both platoons. This lets me take a full parachute platoon with and extra bazooka and LMG. The rest is the same. Thanks for your videos, I'm new to FoW coming from Clash of Steel :)

Jimmy's Panther saves were awful!

I think Jimmy really missed a trick on the last turn, he should have moved up the half track mortars and machine gunned the infantry then assaulted if he got 1 in you would need to counter on 5+ Fail and he would have won the game, that is assuming he didn't kill you in the gun fire. It would have been spawny but a wins a win and it was his only hope of winning. Better luck next time Jimmy.

Rob, wouldn't it be better for that mission to place your object as far to the left of your deployment area as possible? That would put it both: as close to the attacker placed object, and as far from the attacker deployment area, as possible.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Jimmy was mistaken that his AC's had an assault of 3+. I can't think of any German Scout asset that assaults at better than 4+. PS: Later in the game SS Stummels did their assault and still the roll to hit was mistakenly believed to be 3+, on the card it is 5+. Despite their name, assault guns aren't great for assaulting. edit: the 9th SS card "Best Firepower" does bump their assault up to 4+.

It's probably a good idea to get 2 Sdkfz 250s for the Command teams so they don't have to re roll saves for repeat bombardments and re roll bail outs for tank teams

The Armoured Recconaissance Company can have 8 rads. They might be a better choice then the Pz Spah patrol.

Good game of Free for All. Jimmy's list looks better balanced. It all came down to a couple of dice rolls in the end. It's hard to manage assaults when so much can depend on so few dice.

I believe the word you were looking for was 'hanger'? Enjoyable game all things considered.

It was weird not playing fallschirmjager and thanks for saying we are nice guys lol Maybe next time will use something else other than Tiger IIs as it would be good to have some more artillery etc

A really interesting report! I have played a Naval infantry list (Bagration, using command card, infantry platoons supported with flamethrowers teams and RPG-6 card) with a Hero T-34/85 second formation as support against my friend Gawain's Hungarians. Probably I will play this list in Badajoz 2024 tournament. Not very competitive, but really fun to play. I'm trying to enjoy FoW, just playing "normal" lists, not trying to make them competitive, just having fun with friends (friends that also want to play just for fun, of course)

I think folks should call time on the 3 Training KTs. 41 points for one platoon with 6 dice. For the same points you can get a Berlin Panzer group with 9 Careful/Rel/Vet Pz IVs and 4 Wirblewinds. It's easier to defend objectives with more platoons. Good fight though. Bit of a miracle result for the FJs!

Two things to comment on: 1) I really like using lighter colored material for basing as he did with the FJ, and 2) the next list I'm going to run is going to be the FJ Stug Company from the D-Day book. If you take one platoon of Stuh's, then you can pretty much fit everything else available to the formation in 100 points. Satisfies my autism.

You were right, FV infantry on defense is great with counterattacks...great report as always, and great lists in the first game. About second battle, I'm thinking about playing a soviet list at Badajoz 2024 (next October, just because I like weird and unrated armies (nowadays) 😅

Just needed more panther. Weak Halftrucks, 2. 120mm Mortarteam and heavy mgs were usless right on, also the 88s...who make these weak lists gosh.
