Solution?
Working with you following taking your foot workshop has provide me with many "weird" exercises but all of them have been so valuable for helping me correct my hip and back problems. Eternally grateful. Barb
Ah yes. My 'weird' exercises :D It's been such a pleasure working with you to get your foot moving properly and unstick your stuck hip and ribs.
Used to know this Barefoot girl in the neighborhood every one loved her

I'm going to try this THANK U SO MUCH it makes perfect sense🎉❤
😅
How can we enable this movement again?
You can start by getting your diaphragm working on the left side with this exercise ua-cam.com/video/Bx2Imj_nTn0/v-deo.htmlsi=nrSY0fQP3DnGhAXZ
Thank you for wonderfull videos ❤
You can use a tennis ball instead of a book.
A tennis ball isn't ideal for three reasons: 1- it's unstable so you can't relax your foot to create the movement you're looking for, 2- it causes the bones behind your toes to curve in the opposite direction than you're trying to get them to do 3- you need a rigid surface along which to let your foot lengthen and the soft tennis ball material will prevent the foot getting longer
@@flowmovementtherapy2096 good to know, 🫢
Thank you for this and other videos. I have one foot that is really messed up and this is a really helpful explanation. I've already been doing it for days with my splay toe spacers on.
I'm glad it's been helpful. Have you noticed a change in your feet? Are you curious about how your brain came up with a hammertoes solution to something?
@flowmovementtherapy2096 I haven't noticed a visible change but I am noticing a change a change in awareness of the gripping. And I'm working on my ankle and hip mobility as it seems tied to a long time tightness and weakness.
@@katylynnj good job sticking with it and noticing some connections between your foot patterns and areas further up. Are you doing anything to change how you are using the improved mobility in your ankles and hips?
before and after?
how often and how long should you do it?
5-10 repetitions where the toes stay completely relaxed, a few times a day. I can't say how long it will take to become permanent. This may or may not be the input your body needs, depending on why you have hammertoes.
I'll give it a try, hopefully my hammer toe will be reversed. 🤞 Today I read about the connection between toes (especially the second and third) and orthodontic manipulation and how a hammer toe can lead to problems in the head/TMJ area.
yeah there are a lot of connections between what your toes have decided to do and changes elsewhere in the body. Toes are often related to head and neck stuff.
Wow. I had both since childhood
I have remade this video without any captions. Hopefully that is more helpful for everyone. You can watch it here ua-cam.com/users/shortsfH1PYSMi4JE
As you are talking your message is going through, where you are showing us, so we can't really see because of lettering.
yeah I realized that recently. This is one of my earlier videos when I was figuring out this UA-cam thing. But it has so many views it would be bad for the algorithm to take it down. I will be remaking it very soon.
I remade the video today. Look at the top pinned comment for the new video
This would have been great if I could see it without the captions being in the way >.<

Then podiatrists need to advice their patients on the importance of good walking dynamics. They need to help their patients to holistically cure their condition that effects their bunion formation. This may possibly prevent painful surgery. 🦶🦵🦶🦵
Very interesting👍🏾 I had hammertoes surgery on 4 of my left toes but the pins began backing out within 2 weeks, then surgeon took out the pins. I still have hammertoes 😩but the idea of the reprogramming the ball of the foot is, indeed, quite a concept‼️Thanks so much for the enlightenment‼️
You're welcome! Did you have anyone help you reprogram your feet after the hammertoe surgery?
Thank you for this information. It's very helpful!
Thank you for sharing!
You're welcome. Was this helpful for your knee or your heel?
@@flowmovementtherapy2096 I’ve been having left knee pain for a couple of weeks (I cannot pinpoint the issue as I’ve tendency of knee pain since a teen, even kneeling poses in yoga hurt me) and I’m honestly not sure if my toe stiffness caused it or vice versa because the onset was around the same time! Thank you for asking, this video was informative but I’m unsure if it help my exact issue. I’m just glad I came across your channel because my body has not tried many of the movements you’ve shared 😂 they all bring a certain level of release for a stiff body like mine
I started watching your videos because of a stiff big toe. While trying this exercise on the foot with the stiff big toe, I felt my ankle stiffen up. Now that’s a first!
oh! Were you hoping for your ankle to stiffen up?
@@flowmovementtherapy2096 I was not expecting that at all. It got me wondering if my toe stiffness will go away if I fixed my ankle stiffness. Once again thank you for responding!
@@tammyshui interesting! It could be that your foot is not allowing you to get into a pronation and then your ankle is holding you back as well. Does your foot get slightly longer and wider when you put your weight on it?
@@flowmovementtherapy2096 hello holly, thank you for your reply. I am completely fine now! After a week of only wearing my Telic sandals my feet and knee are all good as new 🫨 I can’t be completely sure but I believe my stiff big toe might have been due to an ill fitted pair of crocs wedges… Once again I thank you for thinking of my situation, I appreciate you. Love from singapore!
Nice

Thanks for your video! Curious how long it would take to reverse hammertoe. Like… doing it every day for how long? Mine is slowly getting worse because it’s not quite a full hammer toe so I’d like to nip it in the bud.
Almost impossible to say. This exercise is meant for a particular cause of hammertoes but there are many other missing movements in the body that result in hammertoes that need a different strategy. It also depends on how long you've had it, your age and how familiar you are with rewiring movement patterns in your body.
Thank You 👍

Hi there so I have gone for plantar physiotherapy (5 sessions) but I still feel the pain slightly even when I don't do my basketball drills. After the 4th session I felt good and played a game and since then I feel the pain not as much like before physiotherapy. My question is how long should I wait before going back to playing/working out actively after physiotherapy?
Hi thanks for your comment. It would be out of my scope of practice to give you advice without an assessment. It's best to follow the advice of the physio who was treating you.
