ESSA Systems Apollo Trailer Folding Solar System ( Portable Solar System )
The Apollo folding solar array/system from ESSA Systems is available on a trailer or skid mounted platform.
These units are as small as a 6 panel system delivering 1.8kW and can be as large as 16 panels for a combined output of 5.6kW.
Both the trailer version and the skid version include outriggers for stability, manual or electric hydraulic systems for array folding and a heavy-duty mounting framework that will provide years of use in the most demanding environments.
The Apollo is available with panels only or as a complete engineered power system including batteries, charging and power distribution systems.

This is the Indiegogo campaign video to generate funding for the large scale Meridian prototype. We have finished our proof of concept and now we are ready to build a large full scale system. The funding will be used for R&D, material procurement, manufacturing, assembly and testing. Join us on this great adventure. How much power you ask? 6000-7000 Watts
Meridian Folding Solar Panel Array ( Portable Solar System )
Переглядів 81 тис.7 років тому
The Meridian is a modular skid or trailer based folding solar system. These units start at 1800 Watts and are as large as 7000 Watts with 24 solar panels. The fold ratio is 6:1 so storage and transport area is very small for the power available. Portable solar systems like this are used in and have the following applications: • Remote Site Power • Disaster Relief • Telecom • Rail Sites • Emerge...

I wonder if this could be scaled down further to 6x 150w for marine and RV roof-top applications? Is 3D printing the mechanism viable for the loads at this scale and application?

With the Dimmer + PV, self-sufficiency will now increase to almost 95% in summer, which means a huge breakthrough. The prerequisite is that you have at least a small balcony power station, and you don't need an expensive battery either. Example of a kettle: Without a dimmer, the 2500W - 600W PV system needs = 1900W, which you have to pay more for. If I turn the kettle down to 600W with a dimmer, then every weak PV system can now supply each consumer independently and independently, because the 2500W kettle becomes a 600W kettle thanks to the dimmer. Magic... The 2000W e-heater becomes a 500W e-heater with a dimmer, which can run 12 hours a day free of charge via PV. ua-cam.com/video/QbLWDbJi6ew/v-deo.html . The 4000W oven is also tamed. Not the solar systems have to grow, but the consumers just have to drop by 75%, which is sooo easy with the dimmer. are you convinced now I have already switched my entire household to dimmers. Please have a look at my channel. ............. 🌞 ...................... Increase mini PV solar self-sufficiency (winter and camping): A boiler and other power-hungry consumers can be infinitely reduced using the "5000W dimmer". Ebay €7. I run 5 dimmers in parallel on an 850W inverter. Kettle 2.2KW at 150W runs 12 hours a day, so the water is always hot. The room is also nicely heated. 2.5KW washing machine runs in parallel with dimmed to 400...600W and always reaches its 60°C, and also its 1400rpm... It doesn't matter to the washing machine whether it changes the washing temperature to 5min@2500W or 100% can be achieved free of charge via existing PV power in 20min@600W. The wash cycle lasts the same time dimmed and non-dimmed, 3Sth 10min. The iron, dishwasher, oven, electric heater, waffle iron, coffee machine, all internal heating are throttled with me. Videos on my channel ua-cam.com/video/eC2olbCBhh0/v-deo.html The inverter stays cool, quiet and the MOSFETs + (battery) remain intact because no extreme current peaks arrive at the inverter. Now every Mini PV Inverter is enough to sell large devices. So, with the dimmer, all internal heaters/devices can be converted into base load devices that stay almost permanently ON, drawing very little current directly from the PV. With a wattmeter / energy cost measuring device you can then measure this perfectly in order to set the dimmer optimally. ................. .................. ................. ........................

Thats a great design and execution. The only problem with these expanding/tracking solar systems is their cost and complexity isnt justified by the increase in output. The simple answer is almost always the best... just add more cheap panels. Something like this would cost the same price as an array with 10x the output.

I need a folding system like this for a sailboat, where wind profile needs to be low. Maybe even one that lowers below deck. The boat i'm looking at has a crew cabin at the front, can you make one that moves up and out of a hatch and then unfolds? do you have this demo unit still? It looks like a good size for my project. I think if you partnered with a sailboat maker you could really get a foot in providing oem units for install in sailing yachts. If there were widespread awareness it wouldn't be a huge jump to consider that demand would drive the market into adoption. I'm considering a sailing youtube channel with my family and looking for unique ideas to sensationalize as a part of it. Maybe we can work together to achieve something here.

Go smaller and aim at travelers. I currently live out of the car, gold prospecting into wilderness. A unit like this in the forrest would actually be a life saver especially if it can generate enough power to charge a car jump pack. It's not just for my youtube channel and editing, but my metal detector and more, as the car alternator requires the car to be running to charge, and as we all know, gasoline isn't cheap. Thanks!

This is really a good idea. Are you designing something similar for flexible solar panels or foldable panels?, ( No glass ones which are thicker and heavier) panels and may be a smaller device like the one shown here can fit in the trunk of a car or mini van. Thanks
