Dade's Railfanning
United States
Приєднався 8 сер 2022

City of Prineville Railway's newest locomotive doing some switching! | 9/25/24
City of Prineville Railway's newest locomotive, an MP15DC, number 1859. EX Coos Bay Rail Line locomotive.
A brief history of 1859 from February of 2024 until 9/25/24:
CBRL was auctioning off a couple of their MP15DCs. COP wanting to modernize their roster, bid $202,000.
They won the auction by $1,000 in February.
BNSF got the 1859 to the Prineville Junction on May 2nd and I watched it come into their depot on the third.
Since then, I watched as they painted the new locomotive and tuned it up.
On 9/24/24 COP deemed it operational and started switching with 1551 up at the Junction in Terrebonne/Redmond, OR. This I wasn't able to attend/record.
Then, on 9/25/24 from 7 - 10, I watched them switch the railroad in Prineville.
Until my camera fell over and broke... haha...

COPR Working with their second oldest locomotive 1837 and their newest bought locomotive. Their new locomotive is an EX CBRL 1859 MP15DC. Originally made for the Missouri Pacific in 1982. Once Blue and Green is now Yellow and Blue, with all the CBRL logos wiped off. They moved it into their Depot where I believe they will finish it. More updates when they come. 8/28/24

After coming back from the Prineville junction in Redmond, OR, COP 1551, an EMD SW1500, and COP 989, an EMD GP20 (EX MILW), finish work at the COP depot and start moving eastward to drop off a long string of tar tankers. After dropping them off they move over the Lamonta crossing to un-mu the two and set 1551 on a siding while 989 heads back to the engine house, where it will be shut off for th...
BNSF Single Stack B-PTLLAC on the BNSF OT Sub | 5/31/24

A BNSF Single Stack B-PTLLAC rolls past the Terrebonne Depot on the Oregon Trunk Subdivision. These Baretables aren't common for the trunk so it is very nice to see, also, the leading loco, 7652, is one of the first ES44's built as part of a 2005 order from BNSF. Don't quote me on that, a friend told me, haha! What a nice way to end off May. Sorry I haven't railfanned much this month lol 5/31/24

GREAT CATCH!!!
What are the cylindrical devices mounted to the roof of the GP20, just aft of the air filter saddle? Visible at, e.g., 1:23 and 6:05.
There's also an unusual BNSF box car at 1:19. Looks like BNSF 99914 -- used for training?
Mhm, it's a BNSF hazardous training boxcar for first responders!
14:10 For anyon who's worried about the "leaking" tank car there, that's just the steam heating circuit that's used to heat and melt the contents prior to unloading.
Asphalt to be speific.
Gosh, never seen the enormous radiator fan on the front of an MP15 before. I guess they're normally painted a dark colour.
Haha, yeah!
Mexican Grey Ghost as well
For context 1063 has an H4 logo on the nose
And a dodx boxcar is Department of Defense boxcar.

Long train! I counted 100 cars.
With an RS3K too!
I always knew it was some sort of Leslie RS3, thanks for cleriflying the specific type!
Great video. I subscribed to your channel as well!
Thank you!
those number boards say "SP"... but the headlights are "centered" on both ends... maybe COP fixed the headlights so they are in the middle... always liked the end cab motors... good little switchers for moving on tight curved rail
Yes! So, SP had this SW1500 but moving through a couple railroads to COP the SP light package was gutted leaving it with that funny overhang at the front. Then of course the headlights were replaced and centered. :]
Great catch, cool SW!
Ex SP too! Thats why it has the hood over the front head light. The whole SP light package was ripped out so it was left with that little overhang.
Hey, hot stuff! By which, er, I merely mean that the hazmat placard 3257 on the tanks denotes hot liquids -- bitumen, I guess, from the spillage on top of the cars. Actually, looks like the cars are empty anyway, from the springs. Wasn't expecting fifteen of them!
YES! Haha, these tankers were empties that they were slowing adding to in a siding. They brought them out to sort them. The facility they atened to is for asphalt so yes, it is bitumen! I forgot asphalt had that name!
@@dadestrains9764 Ah, in British usage (where I'm from), asphalt is bitumen plus gravel.
@@beeble2003 Ohhh okay, its commonly rerfed to as Asphalt here in the US. Some still do call it bitumen, just not common. :]
My name is Michael Lockhart I had just subscribed to your channel.
Thank you!

Nice video. Equipment is from 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division from Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA heading to National Training Center (Training) Rotation 24-07 @ Fort Irwin, CA.
Awesome! Thanks
Nice catch & video. Equipment is from 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division from Fort Lewis, WA returning from The National Training Center @ Fort Irwin, CA for Decisive Action Training Rotation 24-07.
Wow! Neat. Thanks!
I'm sorry, what is the point of filming trains? Only the most boring thing on the planet even before golf. Why something we all must suffer through at one point or another. Even people who love trains curse for having to wait for a train. Why film it?
Well, if you watched this video it's because you're on your saggy crusty cheeks, scrolling and refreshing UA-cam so much that you're getting recommended super low view count videos which, says a lot. Now, judging by the fact that you also commented rudely on my hobby, I'd have to assume you don't have one. If you did, I think you'd understand why I film trains. Also, If I was out waiting for a train, why would I not film it. Seems a bit dumb, doesn't it? I video these trains because not only is it my hobby, but I upload them for almost archival purposes. So, I suggest getting up from your chair, opening the blinds, taking a shower, and finding yourself a hobby. Thank you and have a great day :]
@@dadestrains9764 Meow.
BN hoppers are definitely old
Great train. Well done video. Joe
Thank you, Joe. I try my best :]
Nice little trains. Joe
Very little in fact. These two trains come through often, I just never got to catch them lol.
Oj
?
Who wants to be filmed goofing off on company time?
They werent goofing off, they were standing by the switch ahead of time so they could flip it when they got the okay from dispatch :]
"Rabid Railfans" are known as "foamers". My brother was a UP Freight conductor for years and he said most were "harmless" but some acted a little foamy around the mouth. 😁
Haha, some of them are like that... Thankfully, I am the harmless type!
So? He pointed at you.
Please read the description. <3
I used to work for Southern Pacific and railfans are called Foamers, they don't like them. Sad I only found a few coworkers that actually liked trains.
Yeah, I know some railroad crews dont like railfans and or "Foamers" if you wish to call us that. Out here BNSF crews are pretty nice, they will give friendly waves and honks :] Very interesting to know you worked for SP, how was it working on the railroad?
💕Wow💚💚💚💚💚💚💜
Great job on this train video. Super scenery. Joe For it sub and bell 👍
Thank you very much!

Try setting the tripod & camera close and down low might be a cool prospective! Keep up the good work!
Thank you! I will try some new spots around town, see what cool shots I can get. Heres the catch from today. ua-cam.com/video/KYGo8t5zocA/v-deo.html
