It’s so funny that Michael Jordan and his little brother Kobe Bryant hated the second model of their signature shoe line. To the point they both wanted to leave the brands they were with. Kobe literally paid the remaining balance of his contract to get out of the deal with Adidas. Unfortunately for Adidas, they didn’t have a genius like Tinker Hatfield to save them. Michael hated high-tops, the Air Jordan 2 was way too heavy and stiff, Tinker was the first designer to actually take input from the athlete to accommodate the performance aspects of playing style for the next iteration. In combination with just designing a way more iconic aesthetically pleasing looking shoe. I always thought the Air Jordan 2 looked like an ugly high top bowling shoe
