the game does not open with the tale of delta rune, unless I forget entirely- that happens a good half-hour into the game and is arguably the beginning of the STORY, but not the game. anyway beyond that the video is pretty good.

I will say the only thing you definitely didn’t have context for was Libitina (the song unlocked by beating all songs save Epiphany). This song is an interpretation of the Secrets DDLC hides in it's files with new info from the plus version also being interpreted. It is very much important to DDLC because of the secrets and is very much a fun song. Otherwise, great video!

Thanks for the summary! I'm about halfway through 3, and I'm having a real difficult time keeping interest. And it has little to do with the combat. It's just simply inferior to the three games before it, in nearly every regard. I think I'll just continue on to 4 and hope this one gets a Kiwami remake.

DDTO is a Very Nice Choice, for quick info not many know not Only were there those 2 but, There was a My Sweets D-Sides remix oneshot and a Spinoff Official Oneshot of DDTO Bad Ending called Datastream as it messes a bot with the PC and is a Monika Song. Figure I give that context as to what most people don't know about the mod. Weirdly enough I do kinda agree on that being where you should start for modding.

A game with high highs, but unfortunately some quite low lows. As someone who's been a fan of Sonic since 1992, I do overall like the game and do not think that it deserves some of the overwhelming negativity it gets, as it is by no means A BAD game. It does fall short on some aspects and could've used some more time in the developement, but the good aspects of the game are still strong enough to keep me coming back to this game regularly. On a side note, I think the people who bought and supported the game, deserve to see this game get some quality of life improvements, fixes and additional content. They've only released a few funny skins and that is all. Sega has said that by the june of 2024, Superstars has sold well. Keeping this in mind, there is no reason why they shouldn't give this game the attention they gave to Sonic Frontiers. Frontiers received countless bug fixes, quality of life improvements based on fan feedback + additional content, such as an entirely new story campaign for the last island. Superstars and it's fans deserve atleast some of that as well.

Fair enough view on the update. Unfortunately, due to finding out what keybinds you're using, you have made me cry. I understand if you deem 2 handed as too hard to switch to, but unfortunately, most songs in mods are built around people who do play 2 handed. Like I said in your last mod review, DDTO+ is worth a look, an engaging story that Unfortunately requires you know about DDLC's entire story, but despite that and the mod's run time, it's mostly a fun time (save for 3 songs that ft. Gimmick notes).

I don't feel context in week 3 was lost. Rather, the main purpose of week 3's story is clearer instead of randomly having a burst of insane rash and crude words its safer and feels still like grace is trying to hold on still but not resorting to the harshest words making her seem like she's past the point of reason. The mod also through insight of the director basically said they wanted to completely preserve original intent of the creator's vision of the story. BF week was cut as he is always referred to as Benjamin in story in this version deeming the comparisons useless by the dev team. This also means that any context the creator gave you have to find on the wiki rather than the story giving better context. Will say if you want other mod ideas I suggest DDTO+ as it's a mod with full narrative cohesion not basing itself off of base game weeks with maybe the exception being the prologue.

While not my favorite remix mod (D-Sides is crown for me) it's a pretty decent one with week 7 definitely being the highlight.

Hazy River is a nice relaxing mod that anyone can pick up and play, which is great, and each song feels nice to play and listen to.

The devs have stated that weekends are exclusive to Pico, so if we get any other naming convention besides week, it's gonna be specific to that character. Remixes definitely feel like the modding community's flourish in base game, especially since they hired a person in the modding community specifically. Also, we await when Pico Remixes will be added later as playable characters will have their own versions of the week tracks.

Whitty seriously helped push along mods in the community. Yeah, being bad at the game now, though, is kind of a bigger deal, especially now that ghost tapping can save you and the fact that, despite fairer charting, you still need skill for all the mods now.

I would love to add my own thoughts on Sayama. I don’t think her being written off makes her just a plot device. Personally, I think she had a great personal arc in 2 that completed itself. She’s one of the centerpieces of the story’s themes and I personally enjoyed the noir crime drama romance, it reads a lot like other crime dramas that just works for me lol. However, there’s always developments and changes that happen in between games that we don’t always see. The emotional charge of the romantic ending of 2 doesn’t resolve the fact that Sayama and Kiryu could never be together long term. In fact, the disgrace from an officer falling in love with one of the most important people in the Yakuza brought to the police is brought in 3-6. Like I’m laughing imagining the next few days after 2 ends where it becomes very clear to Kiryu and Sayama that shit was never going to work out. While it’s handled sloppily and I definitely resonate with the disappointment, I’ve come to be more okay with her being written off. She just never comes back and that’s happened for other characters in the series with less care put into resolving their conflicts and giving them a reasonable send off (Tanimura is a glaring example of this, he just never comes back, but he’s last seen working with Date in Tokyo). Either way, I’m glad I could find a newer UA-camr putting themselves into the ring and reviewing one of my favorite franchises. Maybe it’ll get me to finally start my review series on the games.
