Another Little Trip
United Kingdom
Приєднався 3 лип 2020
On another little trip, driving my motorbike round the world from Brazil to England.
E12 High in the mountains, thunder and much more threaten to stop my progress.
I leave Lima and head back into the mountains. I've been recommended an interesting detour on a pretty rough track where things get a bit tricky. Maybe I've got the wrong kind of bike for this kind of thing?!
I am currently spending two years driving my motorbike, a Suzuki Vstrom 650, from Brazil to England. I've made it 6 or 7,000 km to Peru so far. Just another 18 months to go...

Another Little Trip continues...and I arrive at an actual oasis. I thought they were only in films... I then continue along the coast to Lima, Peru and spend a wonderful week exploring the city whilst my bike gets some attention at the mechanic. Another Little Trip continues...but gets a bit held up by yet more protestors (not llamas) blocking the roads. This means trying out some new desserts (it does make sense really) in town. Finally I make it past and, on to Nazca to see the world famous Nazca Lines. I am currently spending two years driving my motorbike, a Suzuki Vstrom 650, from Brazil to England. I've made it 6 or 7,000 km to P...

Another Little Trip continues. I'm leaving Colca Canyon and heading to Cusco - a simple two day drive. However, an incredibly high mountain pass and then some tricky weather make it a whole lot harder. I am currently spending two years driving my motorbike, a Suzuki Vstrom 650, from Brazil to England. Excellent idea😊
Looking forward to your questions...
WOW.that bike must be a total POS if you won't even mention it 😆😂.Im not torturing myself through the whole video trying to figure out WTF it is.looks like royal Enfields garbage.my friend didn't have any money so he bought a Himalayan.we noticed he wasn't with us anymore and turned around to look for him and found Himalayan next to it on the trail with a broken leg when THE ENTIRE FRONT END LITERALLY BROKE OFF.AS IN LEFT THE BIKE!!!turns out a quick Google search would have alerted him to the risk involved as the front end breaking off of royal Enfields is WELL DOCUMENTED.moral of the story is that a quick Google search can save you from a broken leg.
Ha ha ha! No, the bike has been amazing really. I'm not sure it's really the right bike for these kinds of muddy tracks though. It's a Suzuki Vstrom 650 with some Anakee Adventures. Fine for a bit of light gravel. Tough when it's muddy! Also the ground clearance is low. Otherwise it's been great for me!
That was long and arduous!
For you or for me?
@ I was feeling your pain!
@ No pain at all! Although no pain, no gain... Hmmm...
Super exciting!
It was! Hope you enjoyed.
Amazing music :).
The writer should go far...
Now I want a Super Pan Con Chicharrón D'Maria! Great episode 😃
I went there 3 times to have the same one!
This was great Henry! So enjoyed it!
We was was the fruit what we call persimmon?
Perhaps...?!
The oasis was amazing! You did’t say if you liked the ‘dry soup’ ! Tell me!
I did! Pasta and sauce. Always good!
From now on pasta and sauce will be called Dry Soup!
And the music!!!
So what happened? Did you get it fixed?
Well someone has cut the giant lever off but I still need it sorting out so I can actually use it!
It’s like it’s another planet
Iam from somalia your support
Kip up where are you from
England!
That's a lot of pushing a fully-laden bike uphill, on rough ground - must have been really hard work. I wonder why you had to push? And go around the barrier, rather than through it? Still, I guess it's easiest to respect their cause and get through as quickly and smoothly as possible. In case you were wondering (which I know you were) - the calorific value of petrol is about 33 megajoules per litre, whereas for rice pudding, it's only about 3.5 megajoules per litre. 😊
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! So what you're saying is I'm better off eating rice pudding than petrol?
And yes, I don't quite understand the reason for the pushing it through but, like you say, I totally respect their cause and I was entirely grateful to be let through. Whatever that say was fine by me.
Thanks for sharing Henry. Best wishes for the next leg. Ride safe, Stephen.
Thanks so much Stephen!
One of the most dangerous roads…. Mmmmm….
That's why I tell you about these drives after I've done them!
That descent looked very bumpy. I was wincing for you! I totally agree with yoy about being next to the hill when yhe vans pass, and not the cliff. I agree with you about taking the horse being a cheat.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Thank you for being on my side with those things. Well, not literally.
Those narrow mountain roads seem terrifying 😳 but you take'm easy peasy! Lovely to see your adventures bud! How's the bike holding out?
Fortunately the video doesn't show emotions - it's quite scary. But the clouds help because you can't see the bottom! The bike is going well! A couple of little things but I've had two services along the way to help it last.
I miss your positivity so much 🥹 also this video is both terrifying and adorable I love it so much
Hee hee! Terrifying I can feel. Adorable...?!
Great shots Henry. Brings me back. I remember a local guy we spoke to said that each layer acted as a mildly different micro-climate for agri. Not sure if that is total BS 😂
I heard that about the micro climates too. But I also rrws that they don't know if it they were for agriculture for sure. It could all be made up!
I’m so glad you’re out of the clouds! That was hard work!
It was!
Fabulous scenery Henry, especially the lake. You're braver than I am taking on a road like that but it does prove that the 650 VStrom is a proper adventure bike. Take care and best wishes, Stephen.
Sometimes you've got to push yourself a bit further than you're totally comfortable with. It's usually worth it! Yes the vstrom is amazing. Just wish the ground clearance was better. Especially when it's fully loaded.
Gorgeous view of Colca Canyon. All of the food looks so good!
Oh the food... Peruvian food is amazing!
This was so interesting, Henry! I'm so glad that you're filming and sharing your "little trip". And, of course, you know it's not little at all! The rice pudding reminded me of your dad; he bought some in France at an outdoor market when Norman and I stayed with them at their home there, and it was super delicious! He ate a lot of it too :-) Looking forward to more episodes. Question: how do you film yourself as you are riding along on your bike? I don't think you have a stick holding the camera or anything like that...
Rice pudding is very popular in my family!
I have a couple of places for cameras on my bike. One is on the handlebars on a 20cm stick and I also have a 3 metres stick that extends high and in front of the bike - so when you see shots looking back at me and the whole bike that's from there. The most important thing though is that I'm using a 360 camera for those shots. After filming I can edit it to show whichever direction I want. You'll sometimes see panning shots. The camera isn't moving - it's just editing the 360 footage.
Love the filming when you couldn’t see anything!1 😂 Very filmic
Just luck really - I had no idea what I was filming at the time!
So many questions! I’d love to see the local women with their quite traditional dress - I’d love to see more After you saw the condor what were those strange buildings on the right? When you got to the town in the snow storm, what was the food?
I filmed a long chat with some women ready for a future episode. Well, less chat and mostly laughing! Those strange buildings were kiosks for selling to tourists. I wasn't there at a popular time though so they were empty. The food after the snow storm was caldo de galinha - Chicken soup - and pollo assado con papas - grilled Chicken with chips. The grilled chicken was genuinely really tasty.
@@anotherlittletripbut whyyyyyy was the soup green?
I want to see you swing your hips!
Can't you see them?!
I can’t see where you are Henry! 😂
Look reeeaalllly closely.
The Christmas Special we were all waiting for - and it certainly didn't disappoint. Motorbikes and food! Today, I decided to learn more about Ceviche.
With Christmas hats and everything! And yes, do try ceviche sometime. With the sweet potato and everything that should go with it!
Really interesting seeing your food and the people you meet, as well of course the incredible geography!
All my favourite things together!
The videos just keep getting better Henry, very enjoyable. In view of the size of some of your meals l need to remind you that the VStrom has an all out maximum weight capacity. 😂
I'll upgrade the suspension! I'm not stopping the eating...
Wow! A kind of dream come true accidentally!
Absolutely! He's now my favourite footballer.
Happy Christmas Henry.
Happy Christmas and New Year to you, Stephen!
Those were the Nazca people, that lived close to where Lima is today.
Right! I was learning a lot about them. But we still don't know why they made those lines, right?
@ They didn't teach me.
@@JorgeTFN.4571 I don't think archaeologists have been able to find out!
Absolutely amazing! I’d love to go there and see these extraordinary lines! Huge and never to be seen by the makers, just by their gods…. But how did they make them?
With a lot of patience...?!
Good luck Mr Manuel.
Thank you so much! All will be fine.
Did you have a hair cut?? Hair and beard looking pretty good 😎
Thanks so much! What makes that compliment even better is that I hadn't had a hair cut.
Tuesday evening… catch up with Henry time. Loving the videos, stay safe
I've got my own day now?!
90%! That's pretty good, but glad you were getting it checked out.
Yeah, maybe 90% is pretty good when you've done it yourself. And I'm sure there'll be bigger problems ahead anyway...
How do you find those tires on sand ?
Not great so fortunately I haven't hit much. Yet...
What do you have for tires? Looks like Anikee Adventure?
Yes, exactly. Well spotted! I think it's just about right for my trip. I am mostly on asphalt but they've got me out of some tricky mud, through some rivers and even through snow yesterday!
@ We are on our second set with my wife’s tiger 900 . Fairly long life they are great on pavement and my wife finds them fine on gravel. Think they might be a little slack hooking up on sand however we never ride on it here .
Hey Henry enjoyed this thanks for sharing !
So glad you enjoyed it!
Keep a regular check on that chain Henry, they can stretch quite a bit when new. Fabulous video, safe journey and best wishes, Stephen.
They can...but it wasn't new! It had just been cleaned and oiled. Extra strange...
Hello Mr Manuel not sure if u remember me, my name is Karam, you taught me yr 4 in 2012 in beijing china. Was bored going through old stuff and came across photos from that time just decided to see where you were. I remember you were an awesome teacher and just wanted to wish you luck on your travels💙
Hi Karam! Of course I remember you! It's so great to hear from you. Find me on instagram and send me a DM there.
Fingers crossed Henry!
Keep it up!
Thanks so much! Doing my best...
Lovely views, Henry! Glad you didn't get stuck on that track. Love that the road just ended.
Yeah, I didn't love it quite so much...
The colcas were where the Chasqui runners used to sleep.
Those are the runners that used to take messages along the ancient Inca road, right?
@ Yes they are!
