    This would be so much better if we saw the table with the parts laid out in order. how do you get the old copper bushing out? how to you put the new copper bushing in? What if there is no retaining ring? What do you do with the white nylon washer? The idea to cut from silicone is nice, but costly. I don't understand why this repair is not more straightforward, considering EVERY bread maker pan has this very problem. Terrible manufacturing design.

    GREAT VIDEO! I use bread-maker for more than 25+ years. Never bought commercial bread. The weakest parts of bread-maker machine is this pan. After few years seal wears out and it starts leaking and since it is not centered anymore scraps bottom of the inside pan and you end up eating teflon. Another issue you could face is wear put of belt, busing and belt gear motor shaft. Black&Decker bread machines are very 'fix yourself' unfriendly. Nevertheless, ordered all parts from aliexpress and after few months of waiting received them and fixed my bread maker. Total cost is ~$5. Black&Decker offered me a new pan at a cost of 3/4 of NEW bread-maker machine. Now I have to fix leaking pan using advises from this video. Thank you!

    How do you remove all the assembly from the basket in order to repair it? I removed the spring clip, but the pan seal and parts remain stuck.

    The seal is the only part I do not have trouble with, with my Breadman machine. The flip up paddle is a good idea but - and I had the shaft and paddle apart a few times since- it scrapes the Teflon off the floor of the pan. The "butterfly wing" piece that gets engaged by the drive motor has worn and wobbles on the shaft. I figured that for 30.00 Cdn I would get a new pan assembly. No longer available. So either I figure out how to fix this so it works well or one more otherwise good breadmaker ends up in the landfill or ewaste stream. Am getting so sick of not being able to repair any machine because one piece fails. I am pretty good with this kind of thing and will find a way but this "obsolete" parts nonsense has to stop.

    • @5060northernmama
      @5060northernmama 11 місяців тому

      I wonder if your paddle is the wrong one for that pan. Or, the shaft is slipping down (which means the "bushing" is probably worn. I'm strugglnig, like you, to fix a bread pan.

    Hi, thanks for the great video. If the shaft completely fell out of the pan, would your method still work?

    • @Howtofixitclever
      @Howtofixitclever 4 роки тому

      Hi , if the shaft completely fell means that something happened with the retaining washer preventing the shaft to go up . For me to be able to do this fix , i have to remove the retaining washer to take the shaft out , and then put it back after i'm done with the assembly. Without the retaining washer it is not possible for the shaft to work.

    I removed my old bushing and found that some furniture parts called threaded inserts were pretty darn close and very cheap, I drilled through the tapped center with a metric drill and then trimmed a little length off the insert. I installed it with epoxy surrounding it and it is a thousand times better than the worn sleeve! Planned obsolescence can't stop us!

    • @west_park7993

    I watched with interest your video, I am considering drilling the housing and installing a bronze bushing www.amazon.com/BQLZR-Bronze-Bushing-Bearing-Sleeve/dp/B00S5NE064 and then replacing the seal. I believe that any repair that does not address the wear is going to fail. I do find your solution very ingenious as it does mask the wobble by not fixing the seal to the pan.
