Terrain-a-Paint-a-Thon: Quick and Dirty terrain painting.
Can I get an entire table full of terrain painted up during a single holiday break? Nope, I cannot. But I did get a lot of stuff done, by focusing on quick and dirty techniques to add texture and variety. Hopefully this will help you tackle that grey land full of terrain in your closet as well.

Kitbash - Ultra Low Cost Ork Mek Gunz
Переглядів 24 тис.3 роки тому
Remember when we used to be able to field an entire bank of Mek Gunz? Well, if those glorious days of long range ork firepower ever return, best to be prepared with these super affordable custom ork field gunz, made from toys and orky engine-u-ity. Sadly it looks like the "army men" guns used in this set aren't made anymore. I'll have to shoot a new video with what's available now at some point...
Hobby Hacks - Lead Belcher alternatives showdown
Переглядів 9 тис.4 роки тому
A quick comparison of some similar paints to Citadel Leadbelcher Spray, all tested out on the same basic pipe pieces. Also did some simple scratch tests for adhesion to smooth plastic without primer.
Kitbash - Ork SnazzWagon (or BoostaBlasta?)
Переглядів 8 тис.6 років тому
Making up a Kustom BoostaWagonSnazzBlasta.. Yeah, okay, I should really read the codex before making conversions. This guy could probably be used fairly well for either the Kustom BoostaBlasta or the Snazzwagon to be honest. Either way, hope you find some useful tips!

Hobby Hacks - Heavy base weights for miniatures
Переглядів 2,3 тис.6 років тому
A hack for super easy to use, dirt cheap, magnetic heavy base weights for tabletop gaming miniatures.
where is the pipe exhaust sprue from? I'm not seeing it in the robogear kit.
Sadly, don't really remember. It's definitely not anything GW. Sorry..
@hackshackgames No problem. Thanks for getting back to me.
The music is so annoying... but the craft is great
Прошло 8 месяцев с моего прошлого вопроса. Где автор жив ли он?
Am alive. Sorry, haven't really been doing much wargaming for a while. Got sucked into DND more, and just haven't had time to make vids. Recently got bit by the Mordheim bug, might start making vids about that or reviewingsome of the D&D stuff I've been working on.
@@hackshackgames Я рад, будем ждать:)
What about the grots? Do you need them?
RAW for tournaments yes I believe they're expected to expand the base size for placement and charging. Most casual games treat them as purely cosmetic, so I just usual basic grots I already have for that.
Can you paint on that metallic primer later ?
Fantastic work mate. Great stuff.... so well done. Cheers 😆
Love it!
Where you not able to change the wheels ? I think that new wheels would do alot for the look
What is that exhausts and car parts sprue from? I want one just like it.
Fantastic work.
Where did the sprue with all the curved exhaust bits come from?
Ask anything four wheel drive they have wheels lift kits gaslands parts as well as such in 1/64 scale
If any of you like to know why they are not being sold anymore, its because they are a rip off of a 1970s metal toy gun. CRESCENT TOY COMPANY Toy No. 1249 - 18 Pounder Field Artillery Gun 54MM.
где новые видео? Куда пропал?
Maybe mix it with Epoxy?
Have you run into any issues with the paint on the tires breaking if the rubber flexes a little?
I ended up buying the same toy cannon kit, but found different axles, and tires.
Your chill voice reminds me of Christoph from the german Kids TV Show „Sendung mit der Maus“, where he narrates over footage how everyday things work. Very soothing
Nice job! Those cannons and wheels seem like they would be useful for tons of projects.
"they're a very expensive model." So they're a GW model then?
Any issues with paint adherence? Heard metallic sprays often have such smooth finishing that non metallic acrylics have problems sticking
Not too many from these. Some had a bit of the 'grit' texture you can get with older white primers, and I wouldn't recommend them for detailed minis. I hit a copper from Kyrlon that was super fine and did have adhestion problems though.
@@hackshackgames would vallejo silver have the aforementioned gritty finish?
@@gwkang7846 I don't think so, although it's been a couple of years since I did this. Think it was mostly just the Rustoleum that did.
Awesome work on this build. I'm definitely inspired to build something like the for my first ork kit I just got.
Orks are da bestest.
These guns are great. Freaking bummer that they're not available over here.
Motorhead was the clincher for the sub. Rock on brother! Badass 'bash, BTW. The whole Mad Max/ramshackle aesthetic was what brought me to the Orks and you kill it!
Those artillery pieces just by themselves would look fine as the new Imperial Guard field guns lol
beautiful!
You, my fellow Mekboy have my subscription!
thank you. incredibly helpful!
can you tell me what is the kit at 12:51?
It's from an old kit out of Russia called Robogear Chemical Plant. Robogear also went under the name Technolog through some sellers, and was carried by Pegasus Hobbies in the US. The only copies I've seen for a while are all on Ebay, search for "Pegasus Chemical Plant".
Very usefull, many thanks !
Thanks for the video! Looking forward to painting up some mini's soon.
What’s that corrugated plasticard you use? And what size of plastic rod for your rivets?
This was exactly the video I was looking for. Was looking for an alternative to leadbelcher!
Got some of these flip fighters for cheap off ebay, gonna try some similar conversions for Orktober!
Ah yes the forbidden cookies and cream mix. Nice.
Just primed my droidekas in gunmetal and it turned out perfect! I’ve never primed anything so beautifully
Great ideas , thanks for sharing
Thank you for this video. This really helped in my decision for an alternative to LB spray. All the best to your channel!
After Krylon paint primer messed up my treelord ancient and drycha, I vowed to just shell out the money for citadel’s reliable stuff
Yeah, only the 'fusion' line is truly plastic safe. I've used a lot of it though, and it's been entirely reliable. I've gotten bad texture grit from a couple of the Citadel primers. For most minis I use an airbrush and Badger's Stynylrez, which is fantastic. They have some metal colors in them, but they aren't so hot for color consistency and need a TON of shaking before each use.
I like it. Simple and cheap. I'd say if you start with spackle and just add a little bit of iron at a time, mix, add more, mix would make it easier to mix, just like adding flour to batter to avoid clumps.
This is awesome!!
Great video! When I decided to subscribe I expected to see you have tens of thousands of subscribers. I greatly enjoyed the quality and would love to see more
Thanks! Yeah, I'm suuuuper infrequent with videos.. I've got a painting one for some Transformer-ish Cybork Nobs I've been poking at for a bit now, almost ready to do the voice work for.
awesome!
Really, really helpful video! I’ve been trying to decide what spray to use going forward and this gave me a lot to think about!
Very nice video!!
If anyone is still looking for an alternative; Colour Forge Steelforge Silver. It’s colour matched to leadbelcher, sprays amazing and comes in a bigger can. I’d take it over the GW stuff any day.
No where near as much as me !!
That's all very nice and a good tutorial, but what is the name of the other song (the electric banger)?
It's called Get Up, by SilentCrafter.
What's a banger?
@@karamelapple8007 a song that kicks butt! A face melter, you might say.
Hi ! Thank you for your experiment. Did you wash with soap your plastic pieces like we do a miniature ?
Nope. No wash or sanding, just paint from the can on raw plastic.
@@hackshackgames thanks!!
Very nice! I thought the mek guns came out looking really good!
