Im an Atv tech, I had a customer leave one of these at my shop for over 4 years now.. Im looking forward to getting her rebuilt and taking it for ling rides.. I can see it has potential because its shaft driven, 4x4 and more than one option to get it started with the recoil starter. That gives me confidence, And also a strong engine with that 600cc, I would keep it if i were you 🙏
@@gabrielalvarez9570 It has been a great machine so far and we use it daily! My father-in-law fell in love with it and decided he wanted to keep it on his property. It is a beast for a 25 yr old machine. Good luck fixing yours up!
Great job, thank you very much for the video
@@abrahamhem8670 Thanks for watching!
I have a 98 grizzly. Thease are great machines. Built with quality. I don't like the automatic though.
@@melmen2379 I agree. I wish it had foot shift
You can get an automatic punch, they're spring loaded and will often help to get out float pin without breaking a leg. Some of them are adjustable so they will hit a little bit harder. No hammer required
@@rc5693 I need to get one. I run into corroded float pins all the time and struggle to get them off. Thanks for the recommendation!
I just got a ttr 230 today 😮💨😮💨😮💨
@@WyoSamuel-2009 Nice! I wish I had one to do a comparison video between the two
that carb was almost as bad as the one on my 2002 warrior i picked up. those mikuni carbs clog pretty bad when they sit.
@@magnaira5072 Yes they do! I like to drain my carb if I plan on letting something sit a while.
@Pickup_Projects you have to modern gas wont store for more than a few months in a carburetor.
5,48 petcock turned off,7,23 pet cock STILL TURNED OFF
@@williecosgrove In this situation, I had the fuel turned off due to the carb leaking badly out of the over flow. Float was stuck open so it made it easier to check with starter fluid.
Nice video, glad you could resolve all the issues. I only suggest using your basket in the ultrasonic cleaner, it can ruin the motor by sitting carb directly on the bottom of the cleaner.
@@brendahall7483 thank you for the feedback! I will definitely use it going forward.
Mine was just the idle was too fast
@therooster4426 I have had that issue before too. If it is idling high, then it doesn’t allow the transmission to slow down enough to shift.
New subscriber! I dig the channel. I also buy non running atvs and fix them up, except I don’t resell them. I keep them. Every time I buy another one, I say this one is going to be my baby. Then I buy another that is better and say the same thing all over again. I tell my wife every time I bring one home, I’m going to fix it and flip it but that’s never the case, I just end up keeping it.
@@sentencedtobeme3697 Thanks for the support! I hope to have a new video next week! I wish I could keep them all but I have to force myself to sell most of them lol. Once they are gone I just look for the next best thing.

I have the same atv, but mine is tan, I call it my baby tank.
@@charethomas4938 I wish I had the tan plastics. I feel like the green fades easily if you aren’t careful
I just recently got one just like the one in the video. It sat for a while and well I followed ur video and I got it to turn on!! Thanks...but when is put it in gear it would turn off. So I turned the clutch knob s and now it won't turn what do u think the problem is now? Cuz I was gonna redo the process all over again
@@JoseMarquez-zw5qm when you put it into gear, does it lunge forward and cut off? If so, then your clutch could be stuck from sitting a long time or the clutch cable may need to be adjusted. There are several videos online on how to free up a stuck clutch.
Do these have oil filters?
@@sentencedtobeme3697 yes, they have a small oil filter.
@@Pickup_Projects can you do a video changing the oil, or maintenance on this specific atv?
@@sentencedtobeme3697 I no longer have the unit but drain the oil after the unit runs a few minutes. Next, the filter is on the bottom next to the oil drain (bigger bolt). When you unscrew it, there is a screen you will have to clean and reinstall. Then you will refill with 10w40 oil. There may be a video somewhere that explains the process better.
@@Pickup_Projects thanks I appreciate it! Also what spray do you use washing before working on it?
@@sentencedtobeme3697I use a degreaser called Super Clean. It’s in a purple bottle and it’s the best stuff I have found.
had to stop the video, when you turned the key on, i noticed the neutral light on the dash did not come on ?..it won't fire the spark plug unless its ''see's '' its in neutral !.
@alanshaw4655 I read that somewhere else too, but it still worked for me without the light. I wonder if someone previously did a bypass somewhere?
@@Pickup_Projects or the light bulb was burnt out ?. but yeah, the neutral light must be on in order to fire plug, its a safety feature built into the atv.
What kind of light bulb did the top light take? Bottom the same?
@@thomasm.snyderii8818 The top is different than the bottom. I bought one on Amazon. Search “1 PC Car H4 Bulb, 3.14" x 1.69" Waterproof Super Bright Front Lighting Bulb, 1:1 Original Halogen Lamp Upgrade Replacement” and you should see an LED replacement.
Some Masta Plasta tape (yeah, that’s the brand name) can easily cover up those holes in the replacement seat.
@@ppainterco I’ve never heard of them. I will have to check them out!
@@Pickup_Projects my pleather seats in my truck cracked. I got a roll of Masta Plasta, cut pieces to fit, trimmed the corners off, and covered up each crack. Held surprisingly well.

Nice work on that one! I picked up one in my neighborhood for free last weekend. Neighbors put it on neighborhood marketplace and said if anyone could fix it, come get it. I was that guy and could not get there fast enough. 2002 Foreman 450 S. It definitely has/had some issues. The bottom of the case had a hairline crack that had been poorly sealed up. I cleaned that up and resealed it to where it has stopped the oil leak. I ran it for about 5 minutes last night. Engine sounded smooth. I can hear an exhaust leak. I did notice the top end base gasket has oil spewing out, so I will have to pull the top end and inspect as well as replace that gasket. It needs a battery and the seat re-covered and then I think it will be a good ole work horse like all of those Hondas are!
@@ericpigg2689 That’s a great find. It needs a little work but you can’t go wrong with a free Honda! I have yet to find anything free myself.
It is strange to me that it started without the neutral light being on. I was having an issue with my neutral switch and it would NOT crank without that light on, even though it was in neutral. Even jumping across the solenoid without the neutral light on prevented spark but allowed it to crank over. I tried two solenoids with the same result. I had to ground the neutral switch to "trick" the machine into thinking it was in neutral, until I can run it enough to make sure it is worth putting more work into it, then I will replace the switch, which I understand in in behind the stator.
@@ericpigg2689 It was just a bad display bulb. I had to take the cover off to check it out. Im guessing you don’t have to have the bulb for it to crank since it worked for me.
Very cool. I have the 98 trx400fw. Great machine. Extremely reliable & very tough. 👍👍 What brand box is that for the rear carrier ?? I'd say for $1200 you got a great deal overall

Don’t go looking at replacement speedos for these unless you wanna have a heart attack. Good ones are hard to find and expensive. Even the boards to redo your own are expensive if you can find em.
