Baking Baked Pt 4!!!
Hecond Mum (Sharni) and I bringing back the beloved series, Baking Baked better than ever - savoury edition.
Quite possibly some of the tattiest sausages rolls we’ve ever eaten (humbly said ofc). Recipe below! xx
Ingredients:
Puff pastry
Filling:
6 pork sausages
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan
2 tsp fresh oregano
2 tsp fresh parsley
Salt and pepper
Egg wash:
1 egg
2 tbsp milk
To finish:
White and black sesame seeds
Method:
1. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees.
2. Remove the skins from the sausages and place the meat into a bowl.
3. To the sausage meat add the breadcrumbs, egg, parmesan, oregano, parsley and salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.
4. Take the puff pastry out of the freezer and let it thaw just enough so it is pliable to roll.
5. Once slighted thawed, use your hands to place the sausage roll filling along one end of the puff pastry, 2 fingers thick and tall along the entire length.
6. Fold the puff pastry over and keep rolling until the pastry overlaps approx 1 cm.
7. Run a knife just after the overlap and seperate the two pieces of pastry.
8. Roll the pastry back over so the seam is directly on the bottom. Apply a little bit of pressure as you do this to ensure the pastry seam mould together underneath.
9. Use a sharp knife to cut the pastry into quarters and place them onto a lined baking tray.
10. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk and brush the top of the sausage rolls.
11. Sprinkle with sesame seeds before placing into the oven and baking until golden and flaky, approx 30 minutes.
12. For extra golden, flaky pastry, give them a second brush of egg wash half way through their cooking time.
13. Serve and enjoy!

Okay so … the caramelised banana tastes good but I’m not a fan of the warm soft banana texture (tho my youngest starts solids next month and if he doesn’t like banana on its own, I would 100% caramelise it and try it for him). BUT i tried half with just plain banana, and it’s actually so good.

It’s definitely better ‘deconstructed’ than it is ‘soupy’…. I said what I said X Ingredients for 6: 2 tbsp olive oil 250g beef mince 3 pork sausages, skins removed 1 brown onion, diced 1 carrot, shredded 120g fresh spinach, chopped 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp onion powder 2 tsp paprika 1 tsp dried oregano 1 tsp dried thyme Small handful basil (I had fresh or 1 tsp dried$ Small handful parsley (***) 1/2 tsp chilli powder (optional) Salt and pepper 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped 1/3 cup tomato paste 1/4 cup Worcestershire 400ml crushed tomatoes 1/2 cup water 1.5 cups beef stock 1.5 cups milk 175-250g pasta sheets (chose your preferred ratio, I like more mince to pasta) To finish: Fresh ricotta Freshly sliced mozzarella Freshly grated Parmesan To serve: Fresh parsley or basil Method: 1. In a large pot n over medium to high heat with 1 tbsp of olive oil, brown off the mince and sausage meat. Season with salt and pepper. 2. Once browned, remove from the pan and lower heat to medium. 3. Add the remaining tbsp of oil, the onions, carrot, spinach, salt and pepper. Stir to combine. 4. Once softened, add the seasonings listed above and cook for 30-60 seconds. 5. Add garlic and cook until fragrant before adding the mince back in. Stir to combine. 6. Add the tomato paste and cook out for 60 seconds before adding the crushed toms, water, stock and milk. 7. Break up your pasta sheets, stirring them through often to avoid sticking. 8. Once all pasta is immersed in the liquid, pop the lid on and lower the heat slightly and allow the pasta to cook in the sauce for a min of 15 mins. 9. Keep an eye on the heat. Stir occasionally and add water if the sauce dries up. Lower the heat if necessary. Be patient. 10. Once cooked, transfer however many serves you need to an oven safe dish and top with the fresh cheeses. 11. Pop until the grill for 5-10 minutes or until til golden and melted. 12. Serve with fresh parsley or basil and enjoy!!!! XX #lasagnesoup #deconstructedlasagne #lasagne #easyrecipes #dinnerideas
