I have 2 drawer older Sauder cab. Would not open. Key would not turn fully. Took key out, lubed it up with wd40. Reinserted it. After a minute or so the key would turn fully and problem soved !

I am so glad I found this video!!!!! A couple of my work draws have been locked for over a year. I've tried everything short of using a crawbar. I recently put in a work order at work, but of course no one has been by to fix it. So I decided to search online again to see if I could find a video to help me. I've tried searching before, but only found information about other types of file cabinets. But today I found your video, used the handle of a letter opener and it opened!!!!!!. I grabbed all of my stuff out and I will not be using that drawer again!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I drilled out the lock and then did this and it still won’t open. What do I do when I can see the arm moving cuz there is no lock and it still won’t open?

Obviously this video is brilliant and thank you for posting it. We were transporting a HON lateral file and I found one trouble spot, the thin later bar on the top shelf simply fell down and caught the lower drawer.

This had nothing to do with leveling the filing cabinet for drawers to open easily. This was obnly how to unlock if locked.

This did not work for mine. I've drilled the lock out of my 2 drawer lateral cabinet and the drawers will not open. Prior to drilling out the lock the bottom drawer opened, now neither open. I don't know the maker of the cabinet but the lock had the numbers 1308 on it. help please.

did not work for me. Top drawer is stuck closed. Other two drawers open, but I also cannot turn the key properly now to lock the rest??

It was a little flimsier than I expected. I had to add a 2x2 piece of wood to the bottom on the rear side in order to stabilize it better ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxXTh-lz-8W6GcB219vTLp27-MxbZYObBX . It is also starting to bow a little at the outer wall ( I've had it up for about 6 months), I've already had a shelf tumble down because of the bow and the fact that the little shelf brackets are quite short. I went out to home depot and got some longer ones so that the shelves don't tumble down again. Overall, it looks very nice for the price and it holds a lot ( I use it as a pantry). I am very satisfied with my purchase. I just strongly suggest reinforcing it before putting it up.

Mine was on the left side. Totally worked. Thank you!!!! Ours was level but you can only open one drawer at a time and some little metal piece had fallen out - possibly related.

Don't buy this file cabinet. It's made out of sheet metal that is too thin. I saw one at a used furniture lot and that are so flimsy you can't even close them properly. What a waste of material, labor, and the cost of shipping these cheap ass cabinets to the US. We ought to have a law against it.

What if all the drawers open but one? The trick works to open it, but it can't be a leveling problem if 3 of the 4 drawers work.

The problem I have is that the bottom file drawer will not close properly either full or empty. That prevents the top 2 drawers from opening. . Any thoughts on what could be jamming that bottom drawer?

Thank you! It helps to find out my new file cabinet has a broken plastic wedge on the slider rack. Now my new problem is how to return/replace this heavy furniture if I can not get a new wedge.
