Good video..i just bought a mv88 + kit and had to buy a micro usb to micro usb cable to attach it to my camera...but i didnt even think about attaching a separate power source. I need to test and see if it over heats less using your method on my sony rx100 vii...I used a different mic the other day and it shut down and it wasnt really hot where we were at. Thanks for the tips

I really enjoyed your video! We hiked to Monkey Rock in Sept 2023. The scenery and views were amazing. I believe it's listed as moderately challenging but I was definitely struggling. Would do it again, though.

Hello, Paul(s)! Thanks for researching this, and passing the results along to us. I’m trying to get a similar configuration to work, but I keep running into an issue where my MV88+ just turns off after approx 1 min. of being plugged into a power bank. When I plug the mic into the bank, both the bank and the mic power on, but about a min later, they simultaneously turn back off. My configuration uses a GoPro 7Black, which means I have to use the GoPro Mic Adapter, instead of the Media Mod… But since the connection between the mic and the adapter (which goes straight to the camera) is audio-specific, and doesn’t have anything to do with the power connection, I wouldn’t think my difference in camera model and adapter would be the cause of this issue. Let me make sure I’m understanding your connections correctly… Are they- TRS out of Mv88+ headphone jack-into TRS jack of Media Mod? And then- From micro-usb of MV88+ into USB of power bank? The 2 connections are separate from each other, and don’t ever combine or cross paths, right? Are there any settings on the GoPro that you needed to change in order for this to work? Sorry for all the questions… but y’all are the only people who’ve put any useful information online about this topic so far. (That I’m aware of anyway.) Any help is greatly appreciated, and thanks again!

Do you think this can be done with the microphone adapter piece? I already have the mic and GoPro with a vlogging style case with mounts and everything so I’m trying to figure out if it can be done without the media mod since it looks like it’s the same thing just without a mic

I have a question. I have a go pro 9 and the MV88 mic. I do car videos so I have to mount the camera on my rearview mirror but the mic needs to be 3 ft away (roughly). I found a cable for the trs male to male 3.5 but I think the battery handle is going to be to large and heavy. Can I just hook the mic up to an external battery? Thanks

You've got an awesome set up there

DSLR 3.5 mini from camera to MV88+. Move mic in close on subject, battery to MV88+ monitor sound at camera. Or record to iPhone record camera video separately Use clap board sync in post. but get the mic in close for better audio.

Love the interactive displays, they really make learning so much more interesting and understandable.
