Takoyaki for kids… Would they eat Osaka’s essential street food snack?
Takoyaki is one of Osaka’s most essential treats. Like a savory popover with a tasty center of octopus, takoyaki combines savory flavors, sumptuous batter, and the chew of fresh seafood.
But that doesn’t mean it’s an easy must-like snack for kids getting the hang of Japanese food.
During our visit to Osaka though, we not only found amazing takoyaki. We figured out 3 simple alternate versions that got our kids hungry for takoyaki.

Who are the Learners and Makers?!
We are a family of 4 who believe in learning through our life experiences and making our own destiny. In August of 2022 we packed up our home of 16 years and sold our cars to travel the world full time. We are living the digital nomad lifestyle while worldschooling our 2 kids. Anthony, writer extraordinaire is the reason we were inspired to travel in the first place. If he decides to do something everyday, he'll be building an impressive streak in no time. Jodie is video editor and social media manager. As an above the knee amputee, she hopes to show how amazing travel is possible with a mobility disability. Connor loves his long hair and is becoming an adventurous eater. He's up for trying almost anything. If you have any questions about Minecraft, he's your guy. Aster is full of joy and we swear she must have springs in her feet. She loves animals.

We're so excited to be back to sharing our travels on UA-cam! Thank you for being here!
Welcome back!!
Thanks! We have a much more regular travel schedule so we’re excited to get back to weekly videos. 😄
My family is taking a trip from MN to Florida (for Disney World) in May, but my wife and myself both hate flying. We have a 6 year old daughter and a 2 year old daughter. Normally for any trips we’ve been taking in the last few years we’ve been driving our van across the country. I was thinking it would be incredible to just relax on a train the whole way there, still be traveling while we’re sleeping, and not have to worry about hotels or focusing on the road for 8-10 hours a day. The only things that worry me about the Amtrak though would be that sleep would be very rough, especially with my young daughters, AND that we would all get sick on the way to Florida, meaning we couldn’t even go to the Disney parks anymore (which is the whole point of the trip.) I supposed we could try masking us all up for the two days we’d be on the train, but it’s definitely a hard choice to make. 😮💨
I wouldn't worry as much now about getting sick (like we did) but depends on the time of year. Sleep is definitely rough, so if you have the time, I'd start your vacation with a down day just a the pool/hotel. I think a train journey like this has to be part of the adventure, not just the transportation if that makes sense.
How many countries have been on crutches?
Your supposed to pull pin on jack and rotate flat !
WOLLAH I WAS THERE ONE TIME IN THAT THING
Whoa, you actually mounted that big lady? 😂
Thanks for this video, we are considering a pop up!
Our pop-up gave us so many great adventures.
I like your crutches
Did you bring your crutches?
Ik where that is it’s a fritse I go there all the time
Yes! It's a great park!
Compared to tenting the work is probably the same right❓ I just took my grandkids camping for the first time. I have always been a tenter and was wondering if I should get a tent trailer or just a small hauling trailer for all the extras that I need for them due to vehicle packing space. WOULD LOVE if any of you can help me decide.. help‼️😅
I think the set up is easier than tenting. Not sleeping on the ground is so nice! Plus, it extended our camping season. Spring and fall camping are amazing. A small hauling trailer will be less set up. We now travel with a small Class C RV and the set up is so quick.
@@LearnersandMakers good points. Thanks for this
No because Disney is so expensive anywhere
Lots of things are expensive, especially as a family. Some people will spend $15k on a Disney vacation, so $2300 is definitely a budget many families find more affordable.
Im considering traveling overnight (just one night) coach with my child. Im worried about losing our spots next to each other while in the observation car. Amtrak cant guaranteed and i dont want to rely on the kindness of strangers. Did yall have any trouble with this..or any tips? Thanks!
Once you're seated, your seat is yours, even if you get up and move around. We always had someone in our spots with our stuff, but there is a tag that stays above your seat with your destination. It doesn't get removed until that destination is reached.
@LearnersandMakers Yall. Are. Awesome. Thank you for the information, for the video and I hope yall are well.
@@Jaystyles23 Thanks! Let me know if you have any other questions. 👍

Really nice to see another video from you guys. I'd almost given up. I am so glad that you had a great trip to Japan. It really is an exciting country. Am looking forward to your future wanderings back here in the state's. Have a lovely day my friends! Cheers!! Illinois, USA

It really is so full of great info. Thanks for commenting and glad you enjoyed it. ❤️
Thank you, that was very informative. Sounds like you have a wonderful family life. I enjoyed homeschooling my 4 children and being able to travel more and learn from the real world together. Brings back many happy memories. I would have loved to have heard more from the kids, too. Take care!
Thank you! Love hearing from fellow homeschool families. :)
Haha throw those wind chimes away or at least put some ziptie around them during filming
🤣 We now travel full time so we don't have any of this anymore. Wind chimes -> gone!
WE GOT A FOREST RIVER 2280 BHESP POP UP. WE LOVE POP UP CAMPING AS WELL.
That's awesome! It's such a great way to extend the camping season.

Thank you so much!
I had to tag on to one of the last videos that you made to check in with you guys. Are you guys OK? Are you still traveling around? Just checking. Hope all is well with you all. Have a great day! Cheers!! Illinois, USA
Thank you for checking in! We are still traveling. I took a break from our longer videos, but you can still see some current shorts. We'll be posting longer videos again soon!
So cool! Found you guys from the new JL Collins book because your feature was my favourite! Love from Canada!!
I'm so glad to hear that! His books have been so helpful on our journey.
Thanks for sharing you experience. Im very glad to find your channel. My wife and I with a 10 month old just got an old 1999 coleman pop up. We're going for our first camping trip in a week. I appreciate all the tips you give.
So glad you found it helpful! Happy adventuring!
When I heard him say the fridge could be better used as a cabinet, I knew you guys were for real. I have been camping almost all of my 70+ years from a kid to backpacking to pickup truck campers, to pop-ups, and pop-ups are my fave. You can't beat them for space, light weight, low cost, and comfort (if there is a heater). You guys have learned a lot and thankfully have a gift of giving that to others. Thank you so much.
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed our tips. We love helping people get outside and enjoying what camping can provide. (and yes! A heater is super necessary to expand that camping season)

Do you carry spare parts for your leg?
No. Just some basic repair kits.
@@LearnersandMakers Do you take a pair of crutches?
How many countries have been on crutches?
Have you ever had a problem with your leg overseas?
Did you have a fever or loss of taste with Covid.
We had fevers, but didn’t experience loss of taste or smell.
Nawwww, what a sweet family :) I love my old poptop, I just love the freedom
What’s the puddles splash
awesome and informative,,,thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Is it only for kids or even fun for adults?
This park is definitely more of a kid park. There are only a few larger thrill rides. You'd have to be really into legos to enjoy as just an adult without kids.
@@LearnersandMakers ohh k thx for replying
Did you take your crutches?
I don’t really use crutches
