Hello adrian! where are you from?
put only 10 in TC. Extra above 10 have no impact on arrows
Great that someone is playing the classic! Im interested.
early aggro with persian tc
The yellow archers were a huge problem - build skirmishers next time
Hey man, I'm a small time content creator who plays AoE2 as well. We should run some games some time. What's your elo?
Hi! Sure, happy to do it! I think I'm around 1000, how about you?

Post castle age, you should gone for knights. However, it is good that you kept red engaged. Your teammates were able to finish the game.
Thank you for the advice!
Hey, what's the trick behind building those farm that fast
Hi! It's the new auto farming! Spirit of the law made a great video about it
turn your timer on
Will do, thanks!
Hey bro, my advice is to play Magyars. The free attack upgrade they get really rewards you for being agreessive. Forget walls for a little while. Live and die by the sword. Add the walls back in later.
Thanks!
Cool game!! Another newbie here, what's your elo? Maybe we'll meet on the ladder!
Hi! I think I'm between 900-1000. What's your username?
This is just my personal preference, but given that berries are slower than hunt and sheep, I tend to build the mill with the 13th villager AFTER I have already hunted the 2 boars. And I do this when I'm playing scouts, if I'm going archers i'll build the mild on the way up to feudal or even in feudal depending on how many deer I was able to push. But again I think it's just a matter of personal preference, on open maps I try to get into feudal quite fast, I've never tried to do a fast castle, so getting food fast is always a priority :) I think a well positioned tower could had denied his wood line (im at 10:30 in the video)
Yep, definitely will try that, thanks!
Ahah when you tried to wall the scout it was so cute 🥲

Hello Adrian. Where are you from? Would love to play with you. Thanks!
Sure! Same for me! What's your name in aoe? What's your favorite map?
Hello Man I would say you need to improve your build order, so the fast casttle will be even better And the control groups With Ctrl + a number you can assign a group to units, vills and buildings, so you can move the camera to them
Thank you for the tips!
Adrián remember when you need res like you did wood for the mill, select lumberjack vills and hit A for quick autodrop
I always forget!
I read ur description maybe some advice will help 1. Ur build order I think not really well executed 2. Ur idle Tc need to be decreased more at early stage of the game 3. Learn to lure deer and that will provide extra more food
Thank you for the tips!

Hi Adrian... Damn... lately my ego took a big blow, I thought I was getting better, and then I try the wololo ranked... I lost my first 3 games in a row... pff just when i thought I was playing like a 12-13 hundred. Anyway, feedback on this video: -About 2:45 or so: remember to select all villagers under the TC and click "A" for the automatic drop and avoid that idle TC. Hard to tell because you don't have the timer enabled (I think it's f11 if I remember correctly, you only need to enable it once), but I dare to think you idle tc in the first 3 min was already over 10s, something to improve on... if you see the reply with CA you can spot that and work it out to bring that dark to 0 IDLE tc. -Watch Viper videos or some tutorials on fish traps placement. what you do around 24:25 is a big no-no... btw i'm terrible on water maps... but the thing is that what you did will make your fishing so much more inefficient and if you need to get ships out they will get stuck with your fishing boats, farms is OK to spam, fish traps you want to make them properly. Back to the title of the video "was I really ahead?" I dare to think yes you were, you just clean a chunk of his army, had your trebs out and destroying and he was focusing on camels when you had your pikes as a strong counter. If I were in his spot I wouldn't had resigned yet, there was a good chance for him to recover, the raid he did killing your farmers a bit earlier grant him a superior Eco... so IMO you were ahead, but not like you had won the game, he surrender a bit too soon I feel, maybe he didn't knew how to react to the treb+pikes pressure? Or maybe he had to go... who knows, a win is a win ;) Congrats!
Thank you for the tips! I haven't tried yet the wololo ranked, I think I should
What did you just call him?
Who sorry
It looks like he was an aggressive player, and none of his attacks found success. He was behind economically, so he resigned. Good game
Thank you!

Just randomly recommended by youtube. I'll never use those tips, haven't played AOEII since 2005 or something, watched a bit of proplays out of curiosity three years ago. On the other hand, solid video, totally would enjoy if my pc wasn't rejecting AOEII, lol.

"I'm noob, please write a comment about what I can improve and do better!" - Learn 2-3 basic build orders - Practice in slow mode against AI to warm up - Setup hotkeys Find a proper guide on 2-3 build order examples and practice them in slow mode against AI. For example, scout rush, scouts into skirmishers, militia/men-at-arms into archers, militia fast castle. Maybe you can start with one build order and get good at that. The reason to learn a few different build orders is to help you adapt your own build orders, but also learn how to play against them and what the timings are. The reason to practice against AI on slow mode is to memorize the build order to the point where you can do it easily. In your mind you will always know how many villagers you have, and where the next one is going to go. This will make it easier to be more active with the scout and army. Hotkeys are important because they minimize the amount of effort and focus it takes to perform actions. Every building needs a hotkey. If you feel like you are too slow or things get overwhelming, then hotkeys make everything 10x faster. I prefer to pick certain civilizations for each map. Some people prefer to play random civilization. I feel like the best advice is to stick with one for about 5-10 games and then rotate to another one. This will give you the time to actually understand the civilization. The next advanced tips to improve would then be watching your own replays after every game, setting up the user interface, learning more build orders, and watching the Viper. Learning how to get better is its own journey, and practicing build orders and setting up hotkeys can get tedious and boring. So, you have to balance getting better vs having fun and prioritize which is important to you.
Yes, the purpose of this channel is solely get these kind of advice. Thank you for that!
I get it now, If you don't click the tree hit box it will try to move instead of attack, I think I mess it up the first times i tried and then I thought it just didn't work for onagers, and you needed siege onagers to work, I just did some trials and with the mod small trees Its quite easy to click inbetween the trees instead of target them, and they just try to move and kinda bug out... Man realizing this will help me so much in michi, BF and amazon tunnel... those are maps were I was asking my team mates to cut down the trees for me. Thanks Adrian!
You're welcome! Happy to help!
Actually I forgot to say that the same trick works with ballista elephants as well
@@adrian231 Yeah, i've focused so far only on spanish and mongols as i'm learning the game, so haven't played my first game with that civ
Hmm need to figure out why right click for me works differently. Thanks for the video
comance?
Oh

Sure!
@@adrian231 lets see
Adrian hi, sorry to bother, but yesterday I was playing and try to shift queue onager to cut the tree lines and i'm failing... for me the hot key of attack ground is "T" so i was trying T, then shift+control Clicks. but it wasn't working. If its not too much of a problem for you, could you make like a 2 min video something like "how to cut trees with onagers" and just break down step by step how you do it? I don't see videos there show casing this and I end up having to attack ground every single click, even when I had the score lead this took my attention away and my team lost... and it kills me to know that is possible because i saw you doing it. (btw if you could please do this with spanish, that way I'm sure you are doing onagers and not siege onager... with siege onager it by default attacks trees so I have no issue shift queuing without having to attack ground) Thanks a lot and sorry for the request
Sure, I can make a video, but it's simpler than you think. I also have T for the attack ground, but you don't need it. With onager you can cut trees by simply right click on them(no keyboard keys, just the mouse). If you then use shift as well then it will cut trees in sequence
Here is the video ua-cam.com/video/aUW1q-eLHQM/v-deo.html
i thought this was HD because of the tiles
?
@@adrian231 aoe2 hd, you know it? at first look i thought was it
I see!
he didn't even took his relics...
XD
how did you queue the attack ground at 22:40?
Oh, just the classic shift+right click on the trees
@@adrian231 earlier this week i was trying and some how siege onager was allowing me, it was right click it knew i wanted him to attack trees, but onager i had to send him to attack ground. so Siege onager with mongols for example easy peasy, but with spanish I find it hard... but now that i saw you did it, need to check what i'm doing wrong
adrian when building farms try this: Hold shift, then click on the TC or the mill, then keep clicking on top of the building for additional farms. they will be place in the most efficient pattern, it will be faster, and vills after they build the first one will automatically split among the farms. Give it a try, will take complexity away and you will no longer need to chaos spam 20 farms all over the place around the mill
Thank you for that! I think those are older pre-patch videos, but I also forgot to do it on the new ones. I'll definitely try to remember!
Reco, there is an option so double click on a vill will select only the idle ones instead of all. I advise you turn that on
Advise, new patch with the auto farm, have you tried it? Also, I think the market that early in feudal is holding you back. Try to hit feudal with only 3 on wood, and rebalance after you click
dont lose ur archers to tc lmfao on my
I'm so noob 😅
Play AOE4 instead.
no
So hard finding nomad games. Are you playing with friends or where do you find these games?
Yeah, agree it's not easy and no, I don't play with friends. I usually search for noob nomad unracked games in the lobby. You might need to wait a bit for the game to start, but if you are around 1000 ELO fell free to join!
Praise: nice use of forward production at 17:40. Not killing boars under the TC (or dropping off deer meat before eating boar) led to a bit of TC idle time in Dark Age, probably reason for being lowest score on team in Dark Age. You can still use the house trick on boars to take less damage from them, as long as you're not busy doing anything else. A small thing, but small things add up. Booming is risky when you don't know where your enemies are or what they're doing. Maybe some outposts once you have some stone? Or use the farm trick to get stone for second TC, by mining stone and then building a farm. It isn't standard practice, but second TC on deer could be better than on gold for booming. If you're not being attacked, TC on gold saves 100 wood but you probably don't even need to take gold right away, so in the short term it saves you nothing: if you build a TC on three deer, it's saving you 100 wood for a mill, but if you wouldn't build the mill because you're afraid of being attacked, then it's really saving you the cost of three farms or more: if you put 6 villagers on the deer, then it's more like saving you 6 farms (360 wood). You still have to build farms once the deer start to run out, but if you gather 360 food from the 3 deer, that's 7 villagers which take 175 seconds to make so you have an extra 175 seconds to gather the wood for farms. When you made a knight at 12:48, you only had 8 on food for 2 TCs + stable, then at 14:00 only 13 on food for 3 TCs. If you need to protect gold miners later on, you can just build another TC there, or a castle, or they might be sufficiently protected if you wall your entire base. Still, if you do build a TC on gold and have excess gold because you can't afford farms for those villagers, it's probably most efficient to buy food to maintain villager production, even if you'll be selling food later on. Fast castle build: you were the first to Castle age, but you had to idle TC to get enough food, and you weren't able to do anything the moment you reached Castle. Maybe because Malay and not used to it, but generally it only makes sense to idle TC to afford Castle for an eco boom if you already have a strong economy, meaning you had a long Feudal due to lots of fighting and want to minimize the time period where you're saving up resources. In that case, you can afford to do a lot when you reach Castle Age because your eco is already strong. You may want to try saving more of your sheep. Don't think of them just as "X amount of food". Think of them as food that can be collected from many villagers. This is why Tatars bonus of free sheep is strong for booming, and why I suggest building a TC on deer instead of gold. If you build a farm in Dark Age while you still have 5 sheep left, you might collect 60 or 100 food from the farm by the time all sheep are gone. If you build a farm just before last sheep is killed, you might collect just 10 food from the farm by the time that sheep is gone. This is one reason why a longer Dark Age can be strong, not just having more villagers for longer. Example moment (how to become better): 16:22. You have 6 villagers queued. A pro player might have just 4 villagers queued on average, while using the extra 100 food for a knight: if that knight is active, he could kill up to 6 enemy villagers per minute. It just requires you to queue villagers at TCs more often. Also at this moment, you built a mill next to deer and then farms. Even later in the game, it's more efficient to hunt deer as long as villagers don't go idle afterwards. You could use that 300 wood you spent on farms for something else, just like using the extra food for a knight. You could practice controlling even a small number of units, like the knight and scout you made, while also 'macroing' your economy. Getting faster at this requires either good mouse control (pro players use high mouse DPI and move their hand a bigger distance, I think?) or practice at switching to your military's control group, where you are basically memorizing the scene where your units are so that when you switch to their location, you already know where to click to move them, such as to go towards or away from enemy units. This is very similar to luring deer for many players: they know where on the screen they need to move their cursor to move their scout next to the deer, even before they switch to the scout. 18:37 You try to move 11 villagers from wood to food. You try to build farms, can't build enough, and spend time watching them. You could instead have moved some to hunt. The reason hunters carry 35 food (and work slightly faster than shepherds or foragers) is that the devs expected people to send villagers to distant deer. Carrying more food is a penalty for pushed deer since it requires forced dropoffs in some cases, but it's still faster to collect 35 food and walk 6+6 tiles than to collect 60 wood for a farm and spend 25 seconds building it. Many pro players ignore deer after Dark Age, but the best player in the world, Hera, still uses them late in the game sometimes, as does Hidden Cup 5 Quarterfinalist and Red Bull Wololo champion DauT. The lesson here: it's more important to build a TC on gold if you are making archers or siege units, with a military production building that is constantly working. If you fast-castle into three TCs, you probably can't afford military as well, so decide whether you want to place TCs at spots that are better for villager production, or TCs that help with immediate military production. You end up with 1400 gold at 19:00 because you didn't think about this. Castle placement at 19:45: being on a hill is good, but castles are also great for breaking down walls because of their bonus vs Stone Defense. And there were the two golds, one northeast and one to the southwest behind walls, that you could have targeted. If you wanted to get through walls quickly , then you place your castle to do that (if it's safe). If you know enough about your enemy's economy to predict whether you'll be faster to Imperial age, then you might put your castle near one of the golds if you expect you'll be faster to Imperial. (*Even if you expect to be slower, you might still castle a gold if it'll do a lot of damage, or if you have a plan to kill trebuchets.) Pressuring the gate: you can use attack ground to avoid hitting your own units. Mangonel's main purpose is to make it hard to wall behind: otherwise, a ram is twice as fast at killing a single building. (Mangonel is only better if you can hit two buildings at once.) Gates have only 6 melee armor, so anything stronger than Light Cavalry is decent at killing it, especially elephants: regular Battle Elephants do +4, while War Elephants now do +30! Even Fortified Gates still only have 6 melee armor, unlike Fortified Walls which have 12 melee armor. 22:37 note your eco balance: now a lot of wood. Checking eco balance and whether it matches what you want to do is another loop to keep track of, similar to making villagers or houses. It isn't something that you stop needing to do at a certain point in the game, unless your enemy is being stupid by not attacking when you have a strong economy but a weak military so you're saving up lots of resources. If this game was all about punishing the lamer, you should have announced your intentions! You can say your plan without acting like you're truly mad about it; maybe something like "LAMER! ok that's it, my goal in this game is to kill gray!" and then don't get upset if you lose the game because your focus is killing gray. Talking makes it more fun. I remember when World of Warcraft launched, people would taunt players from the opposite faction in PvP by talking with symbols, and during busy fighting you would see lots of shouting from players too distant for you to know where they were. If chatting means your gameplay suffers, so be it: this is an incentive to learn to type faster. Some people call it trash-talking: others just call it light banter and having fun. I remember the player who got stuck in the west corner in one of your previous videos, who did a lot of talking and commenting about their own team and yours. 26:25 Under-rated move, taking the farms. 11 villagers = 660 wood saved, literally pays for the TC and then some. But you were still forgetting the "check eco balance" loop: recognize an imbalance and figure out how to correct it with as little time spent fixing it as possible (this is probably also a good time to check for enemy raids in your eco). If the "problem" is just lots of resources, then planning on how to spend them with lots of forward production or slinging to allies; or maybe just sending villagers forward to build a castle, even if you don't yet have the stone for it (or to destroy stuff with Sappers).
"tower rush? no no my friend... I castle rush" 11
Adrian, watching this game I spot an mistake that I do too, and I think will help us get better in the game. You send your army to attack an unit. Instead what we should do is patrol or attack move to a location. in 30:22 you do it the right way, so you know how its done, we need just to be consistent in doing it
