Day of testing heewing t1 ranger at the quarry. It's a VTOL wing and seems to fly really smooth, even though that area is known for strange wind conditions due to the cliffs. Looks like you could get about 10km distance with the 2600mah battery we were using.

hypothetical range test, cruising 7" narrated flight

I took the long range quad out and tried to push it a little bit for range by just cruising up and down the fields. Bi blade props, will post a similar video for Tri blades and compare efficiency. I do get bobbles and have to drop the master slider on the tri blades, so that makes me think they generate more thrust. music: iori - magnetc #longrangefpv
first day back 2024, 3" and 5" at the towers

First proper day flying of 2024, I've built up a 3" that absolutely rips and got one of the old 5" working. Shame the 5" has power ripple in the video, I'll try a different power rail, if that doesn't work try putting a capacitor on the 9v. If that fails then I'll just kinda deal with it I guess. Seems like power delivery on the Mamba Basic stacks might be a bit meh because it looked damn near ...

Went to a park in the rain and took some pictures, tested the video feature. Seems pretty good actually. Also fed the crows peanuts. Camera is an EOS M6 with kit lens 14mm-45mm. Maybe soon I will get a zoom or wide lens depending what I think I lack the most. Music is by Aphex Twin, Stone in Focus

Went down for a quick overnight stay and ripped two days probably the best spot in the UK and I definitely didn't get the best video I could from it. Theres so much more to the spot higher up in the rafters and I just didn't have time to get it all into my mental map.

solid day's rip, if I do say so myself. The opening cllip, I hit a rope, get ejectec up out of a skylight while disarming, then realise where i'm at and re-arm to fly off like nothing happened

Went to Crich, decided to get a pack flying from the top of the machinery. Easy to climb but you can't really get a good tight orbit. is that old tv catching the signal naturally, or is it heavily modified? I know we use the first 13 channels of what used to be cable TV back in the day but our 8 video channels are spread a little differently across the bandwidth.
The TV itself isn't modified exactly, I have a prototyping board stuck to the top with an FPV video receiver on it. That's then hooked to the RCA input of the TV.

Nice video, did you calibrate the hover point stuff? I’m testing my rth for first time ever in the next week and I’m terrified, sure will be a nothing but I have the fear of it 😮
I haven't calibrated hover actually, I should probably do that. I tested stuff again today and it seems to come straight back but kind of circles home a bit wider than you'd like. Realistically it gets to where I coujld recover it line of sight, but I don't think you can take over off a failsafe? Might do another couple of tests then send it somewehre reasonably far if I can.

Almost 800m is pretty good. Not sure how far you could push it but that's good to know!
Capability is pretty much 3-4 km if I want to bring it back, probably 4.5 absolute max. Fairly confident video would hold and battery would be the limiting factor. Max distance in this vid is 1km around 1:30 but I dunno man, sending it long range is sketchy at best lol need to take it out somewhere in the wilderness innit.

cool stuff, I've built a 7" but it wobbles when i drop the throttle, more tuning! desperate to do a nice LR test like this :) didnt know you could have a OSD for distance traveled may try that!
Cheers man, I used a preset I think UAV Tech one, then just tweak the master slider to change how agressive it is. Generally flies really nice, I don't intend to rip it hard. I think it's called round trip distance in the BF OSD tab.

Little bit in the FPV yeah, I didn't see any in HD on the few times I've used a go pto. I do fly quite high tilt though.

Most transmitters have a usb port now that will direct connect and act like a game controller. You should be able to look on product pages and check this pretty easily, if not manufacturer support lines are a good shout. As far as I know modern Team black sheep and Radiomaster radios pretty much all have them but definitely double check.

Haven’t been able to buy their analog goggles anywhere for over a year at least now. Hopefully they got some things on the go but can they survive with the other players moving way ahead already in the digital goggle marketplace?

Is it possible on old crt tv
The only issue is getting mains power out to a bando lol it's definitely possible as long as you have the yellow/red/white (RCA) input on the TV. I am using an AV out to RCA on from the goggles.
What here is old hardware abs what is modern?
people like velocidrone because it will run on a potato, and the more active community of players and devs. velecidrone also has the most accurate physics modal, you just have to turn on the propwash and real lens and battery emulation.

I was there about 2 weeks back it just took me a while to get round to the edit and find a song I liked haha By quad from the near end you kinda just fly up the shaft where the conveyor enters the main building (carefully I stacked it) At the far end there's a hole in the outside wall facing the tracks. By legs there's steps on the far end and a ladder on the back of the building on the near end
