I went there in June of this year 2024 , And I agree with everything you said . Hotel amazing food very good , but the entertainment in the evening awful 😢 . I personally will not be returning.
i tried to be as honest as i could
I moved to Clitheroe 5 years ago - at the time of moving I was having treatments for prostrate cancer, I was also reading a book by Nick Adams called “Do it while you still can” about his adventures riding a 50 year old Eldorado Moto Guzzi (see his UA-cam channel) in the wilds of Canada. I’ve not been on a motorcycle for over 25 years, but had a hankering all that time for a bike, especially a Moto Guzzi; so I recently bought a Moto Guzzi V7 850 and plan to potter about the beautiful Lancashire and Yorkshire countryside as a retired gent. I hope to join the Lancashire Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride in 2025 as it looks like jolly good fun and supports two very important Mens health issues. Toodle-pip!
HI @planet-bertie, glad to hear your still here 5 years on. The DGR is a good day out, you will enjoy it. I often pass through Clit hero, as my gateway to my playground, the trough of bowland, being an accy lad, its only a few minutes away, and use it quite often as my "head space" maybe we cab have a ride out together sometime
@@PompaRides My wife and I lived in the village of Cowling on the A6068 out of Colne for 20 years. I was brought up in Oxfordshire, so I wouldn’t have been a local for at least another 60 years! When I get the hang of riding again it would be good to meet up. I’ve had the bike about two weeks, I’ve been fitting a few extras and spent a week in the lakes on holiday, so I’ve not been out much! It really is like being re-born 👍
Honest review, thank you.
Hi Brother, I am from India and I am also a motovloger so my question is its only connect with Sena 50s or any other sena model also ?
@@ParikramaWithAniket hi, I presume it would be the same with other models
Entertaining video fellas. Do they teach cursing in northern schools 😅
we learn it from our Mothers 🤣
ride on the right in France matey 🤣🤣🤣love it blind leading the blind springs to mind 😁 been down many dirt tracks when everyone's sat nav says different routes
@@georgefirth09 its all part of the fun😂🤣
just back from my first trip and off again in two weeks, love Normandy and great series cheers 😎
It's a bug, once you have done one, you just want to do more, I'm envious of bikers on the south coast who can just jump on the train or ferry and nip across, for us up north it's a bit more of a pain. Can't wait for my next Euro trip, but reality is probably only manage 1 a year
How can you say they don’t cater for the English? There’s always chicken, beef lamb cooked in numerous ways, potatoes, pasta, rice and chips, pizza, salads, cheeses, cold meats. How is that not catering for us Brits? Been going to Turkey for over 20 years and cannot knock the food at all…
It's more how they were put together not the ingredients, I can't remember if I said it in this video or not, but I can't eat anything, and my wife is more fussy. It's also just MY opinion, the good thing is we can all have different ones. In my last holiday review, I do say I would recommend this hotel over the recent one
Hey was there an update on the sat nav still charging when Ignition was turned off?
Very nicely done. I do like the music, goes with the video very well. Cheers
That's a fantastic song Daz. Keep em coming
Great footage mate. Our group of four were there at the same time, never done so much filtering, glad I left the panniers off for the trip. Followed some Gendarmes down the central reservation at Pegasus to get through at one point. Awesome trip though.
aye was a bit busy hahaha, we all took them off and left them at the farmhouse
Sounds like a great mission. And I'm sure you will suceed crossing the bridge, Will be monitoring your progress going forward. Very Entertaining Comms. Cheers
thanks for the watch, and hope you enjoy the series
Just watched Peakys stream and he mentioned your site. So here is a sub Courtousy of Peakys Recommendation. Will check out your site going forward. Cheers

Looking for the video of your accomodation - from your recent travels, I believe that you did a walk around of it - can you tell me which video it is in please - great video's of D-Day
I did,but haven't uploaded yet....Will be up as soon as I have had chance to do the edit
Nice one boys love the banter, that's what life's about 👍
Having us all on comms was great, it made the trip so much better, I edited the videos to try and capture that, I primarily upload my videos for me to watch back in years to come, or as a record of me when I'm gone, for my descendants to know what a knob I was too😁
Great series of videos We’re off Tuesday to Sunday Bayeux and Beaches Great too your not just doing American bits as an ex British Paratrooper
there are enough folk doing all the Yank beaches, i was there for our lads ;) you need to check out my last years trip to Stalag Luft 3 ;)
have a great trip and stay safe!
@@PompaRides we will it’s nearly a yearly outing for us as well as Arnhem
Love it Yankafied Yup the Brits and commonwealth played a bigger part And so glad you did Pegasus Bridge
you would have thowt it was just the Americans, they suffered heavy losses, and i have the greatest respect fo the veterans, but dont diminish our lads involvement
great series so far mukka
Appreciate that, thanks

We did Normandy in May 24 fantstic 5 days riding! We used Calimoto to select twisty roads and spent two of our days on these type of roads... it was fine on the Triumph Tigers and VFR X Tourer, but my Harley Fat Bob did not appreciate it!... It was fun though
🤣😂🤣 i wanted to go on my bobber.........i dont think my arse would have thanked me
great editing here mukka watched them all so far well done again
appreciated, from one who knows the pain of the edit😂🤣😂, subbed ya back 😘
As an Englishman, ex army living in France, I appreciate you and your friends efforts. Thank you boys.
we had a long day, the day before. Leaving home 5am then not getting to bed until past midnight, then getting up after 3.5 hours sleep, to make the journey to Sword for 6am, was my own little tribute/sacrifice to honour "the Greatest Generation", it isnt 0.0000000001% of what those lads went through, but was my way of showing some respect for what they did
I am a veteran too what regiment were you in mukka
ooh the pipes!! The Last Post always gets to me..... Great pictures with the sunrise in the background
im a sucker for pipe and drum!
so glad i made it to Sword for the Sunrise 80 years to the day!
Dead Mans corner museum is great....
Typical Satnav.....thinks an unpaved farm track is a road!!
🤣😂🤣
Nice one Mate. A very poignant vlog 👍. Luckily for me my dad was in 1para. And because they were classed as 'special forces' were held in reserve on D- day. The story he told me was that they were actually ready to 'go' on an airfield in the south of England, fortunately for me, the landings went to plan and, they were stood down.
glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the watch and comment. i guess your dad will have had mixed blessings, sad that he missed the "big show", and thankful that he did! ride safe!
He saved his energy for Arnhem!

I’m going to Madeira in July what are some good things to do I’m going with my family and we have looked at boat trips and other stuff but is there anything else that is good fun???
Great vid. Thanks for sharing. Myself and 8 other fellow bikers went over for the week before the celebrations. Very humbling experience and will be going back next year. Ride safe
was heaving, so a return is due ;), loads we didnt get to due to restrictions
That was a moment to remember
Memories where made, you have a story to tell......"this mad northerner made me get up after 3 hours sleep"
A beautifully produced video. Thank you. Hope that you managed to visit the Monte gardens.
Been here 4 days so far, 1st impression is we felt like we had walked into a retreat for the elderly, don't get me wrong we can't fault the hotel, it's lovely and clean, the food is OK and the staff are very polite. They could do with a bit of music around the pool area, it's so dead, wouldn't recommend June time although the weather should be 23c but it's so cloudy we had about an hours complete sunshine. You can use the free shuttle bus to and from funchal but you have to book your seats. Personally I would not book this holiday again.
This is why I’d hire a car . Bc yes you’re isolated but you’re saving money every night eating in
I have to agree with all of your points
@@PompaRides thank you for the video
Madeira is mostly of elderly tourists so I don't get why you're disappointed
@@willie549 ageism!
Hi mate The hire car was €110 euros for how many days?
1
@@PompaRides I paid less than that for 2 days in Funchal
I knew it was steep, with being hertz, and in the hotel lobby, but everything was included, and no deposit or extra insurance, fully covered. And I was happy to just be getting out and about ( would have rather rented a bike 😂🤣)
@Sheldon_Frood I paid that for a 5 days lol
Looking good Darren enjoying your journey mate.
Thanks that’s great
Great vid - loving the commentary too.
Make sure you sub, and check out some of my older videos Coming Soon- me and 4 others are off to Normandy next week for 80th Anniversary of D Day
I've had the 'wasp in the helmet' experience too - stung me multiple times behind my left ear before I could safely pull over and 'rescue' it. I now have a pinlock insert to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Would love to do a European jaunt like this. Only ever ridden in the UK and in New Zealand, where I learned to ride initially.
I kept thinking, and just decided......I'm doing it, there was no plan, other than the ferry both ways, and I wanted to visit Stalag Luft. So I packed my bags, and just went for it, and so glad I did. I'm seeing if I can wangle it to do it again this year, try and get some more countries under my belt. My advice, stop thinking, and just do! Have you watched the others in this series? Also the full length versions are on in 4k too, these are re-edits Thanks for the comments, ride safe brother
@@PompaRides That's the best way to do it and done a lot of travelling (without a bike) on that premise.
Hi hope your well, where did you get those bags from the orange and grey they look like a great.

Wasn't bad, and some of the shows un the auditorium were good too, funnily enough u mention it on my latest holiday review
Fellow coffee snob , rider and Accrington resident. Must have passed you a few times. I have an X3 too. Great piece of kit.
Hi there, they are......but I do find it a bit of a chore to go through insta to do my initial edit, and then import that with my other cameras footage, you get some awesome angles, but I can't beat my sena 50c for regular day to day footage, just so much easier Even with the remote for the insta x3, it can still be a "faff" The Ace Pro is an awesome camera too, but still doesn't quite replace the ease of the Sena50c These shirt versions of my trip are only in 1080, the full length versions are in 4k If you ever see me about in Accy, come and say hello, I will buy you a decent coffee 😁
@@PompaRides Likewise - currently riding a blue Kawasaki ZXR (but also currently drinking a nice freshly-ground Colombian) I do a bit of solo camping and have a Jetboil with a French Press 'kit' that fits inside it for transport - like you, I will compromise on comfort but not my daily brew.
I have a jetboil knockoff a jobsworth x2 or summat, had it a few years, identical to jetboil, I may have to have a look for the press The coffee bags do the job You should check out the rest of the trip 3000 miles solo around Europe, mixed camping, Airbnb, hotel I'm in the process of posting shorter versions, but the full trip is on
Great video, you captured the day very well. I’m the foreigner in the blue jacket from Yorkshire!
ya lucky we didn't lynch you from the tower😂🤣, nice to meet ya, thanks for the comments, and look forward to seeing you next year
i was driving the bus between Blackpool and St Annes . while you were riding upto Blackpool. i was explaining to my passengers what the ride was all about. As a motorcyclist myself i will try next year to be part of the DGR . Well done all and thanks
the more the merrier, make sure you come and say hello
Great video and good choice of camera , what mic did you use.
DJI Mic 2, insta 360 X3 & Insta360 Ace Pro
I usually use the Sena 50c as my main camera and audio, check out some of my other videos ;)
Great footage and well put together! Could i possibly use snippets of it to include in my video? I'd mention you in the credits and on the description too 👍
Sure buddy, always looking to pick up some subs haha
Seemed to be a lot of modern stuff there Daz. I thought this was for vintage/vintage look stuff only? 🤔
It is, but I don't think it's not strict, was plenty of smelly 2 strokes though 😂🤣

@@PompaRides Can’t beat a Stroker 👌🏻👍🏻
That 1949 aerial was mint
Karen had lots of comments and I let loads of folk sit on and have a rev😂😂😂
I just got the Ace Pro, but my Sena 50S fried in a rain storm a couple weeks ago... Apparently its not as waterproof as they claim, as my friend's fried in the rain a couple weeks before mine did. I want to mount my camera to the bike and use horizon balance for that gimbal effect, but I don't want to run wires from my helmet to the camera and have them flopping around or risking getting ripped out if I move wrong... Considering getting a new 50S or 50R, as I feel that would make it all work well, but my main concern is if I can get audio from my MESH friends I am riding with, and, does the 50S mic do such a good job of noise cancelling that you won't get any sound of the motor?
hi, i have had an issue once with my sena and rain, when i was on my euro trip, but i stopped and bought some wd40 and sprayed that in the socket for the headphones/mic and that seemed to resolve it as for the noise, i think its down to the mic, i currently use the small stick on one, and not the boom, and that seems to pickup more noise than when i used the boom on a previous helmet i haven't yet had chance to see if it picks up MESH conversation, but I am heading to Normandy for the 80th D Day celebrations with a group so i guess i will find out then
@@PompaRides Cool, thanks for the reply. I tend to use the small stick on mics, so if it works fine with that, that's all I need to know in that regard. Can you adjust the gain on the mic, using the "External Mic Gain" in the camera settings? Would be great if it captures mesh conversations, as sometimes we are on track or in the Mtns, or my friend and I will do a podcast while riding, and it would be great to get both sides of the conversation.
A cheaper alternative is the DJI mic2,and a lavilier mic plugged into that, bout a hundred of your US bucks, plus a plug in mic
@@PompaRides I had the original DJI Mic for $330, plus a Lav mic to plug into the transmitter, then a cage with cold shoe mount for the camera, and then an adapter to go from the receiver to the camera's input... It was clunky, heavy, convoluted, had multiple things to charge and maintain, and in the end I got caught out in an unexpected thunderstorm and by the time I could find cover, it too was fried was water damage. 😞 Just gonne use my Lav mic for now, till I replace my comm system with a new Sena or Cardo I think...
With the dji mic 2, no receiver required, bluetooth to ace pro, plug in a lav mic keep the mic2 in a bag in jacket for protection?
