thank you
great video!
good video, needed this
Thank you for this video! This explained so much more more clearly than reading her essay did. I wish my professor would have linked this video to help people like me understand her very over decorated wording.
I understand the theories of art as I studied art at college but I still think theres something dodgy going on.
Thanks for your comment @juljos9343! I agree with you, though I think the theoretical questions are interesting. But it's not like I'm going to stand in front of a bicycle wheel stuck into a stool for five minutes contemplating beauty.
@@drphilipjenkins583 that’s exactly my point, why so much has been made of this toilet is unbelievable, the effects it’s had on art in general is bad. I sometimes think only people who hate art could have come up with this.
Don't pronounce him "Luhze" please, that sounds horribly ignorant. It's an o similar to "hose".
Thank you for this video! Clarified a lot of confusion for me and aided me in writing my essay. Cheers
I'm so glad @yumagoodwin9121, thanks for your kind comment!
This was just what I was looking for to help me teach this reading--thank you!!
just what i was looking for! thank you!
It has been noted that if evil has a purpose - and if we can see through this purpose - it is not true evil anymore. I hence think the idea that evil must be "mysterious" to trigger certain responses in us - especially the state of total despair - is true. As to what total despair is good for - we might see that the way our minds change and how the minds of other change to mechanical. It might be that for some people to unlock empathy they must not just see someone in pain but in great pain. Without emapthy love is not possible.
Thank you so much
My pleasure!

Phil that was a hell of a great explanation!!! And the cat and deer were my favourite to be honest❤ Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for your vid. It helped me a lot
Ornament and Crime is an extremely racist essay . It tries to put peoples into a hierarchy where the indigenous people's who ornament their skin and personal belongings are deemed inferior to those who don't (i.e. "modern" Europeans). Also, Loos was trialed for molestation in 1905 and 1928. He was a real piece of garbage. That his idiotic essay continues to influence our architecture today is the true "crime."
Thank you from 🇮🇳 India
My pleasure @ashwinisingh6888, thanks for your kind comment!

How would the practical contradiction apply to violence? For example with the maxim "i will invade a country to get resources" or "I will kill people I hate to bring peace of mind"
So helpful thank you!
Thank you for these lectures Dr. J! They really support my in-class lectures well.
Great video, thank you!
Thank you for your kind comment Harry A. Nuis!
Louis was French Canadian, so his his is pronounced as a French name.
Thanks much for your correction ThePhilosophyProf!
Thank you very much. My professor doesn’t have hardly any lectures, so I didn’t really understand all the aspects of this. You helped me understand and analyze what Rachels was trying to convey.
Awesome! Thanks for your comment @Juliabeh!
Hello! Thank you for making these videos, I’m a philosophy of art class and these are great summaries of what we’ve learned and help me study :) do you take recommendations on topics to cover?

I had a quick question over the difference between Kant and Hegel's difference of artnature ?
Thanks for your good question Hannah Drum! Both wrote extensively on art and nature, so I encourage you to read Kant's Critique of Judgment, and Hegel's Aesthetics: Lectures on Fine Art.
This helped so much!! You really broke it down in a fun and easy way to understand! Also loved the cat and deer!
Thanks so much for your awesome comment @carinam535, have a lovely day!
Thank you very much for this. I hope you do more videos on Kai Nielsen's political philosophy.
