Motorcycle rides, tours and travel
Umling La and beyond
Continuing on our motorcycle tour of Ladakh, we go to Demchok, the last village on the Indo - Chinese border. On the way, we pass through Umling La which, at 19024 feet, is currently the highest motorable pass in the world! Making Hanle the base, we planned a circular route to Demchok. On our way there, we went via Nurbula Top and planned to return via Photi La. We did not turn on the navigation map thinking that it was but a single road and as luck would have it, we missed an unmarked turn. We lost more than an hour correcting our mistake and as a result had to cross Photi La in the dark and hence no video.

Epic ride to Hanle
Переглядів 14221 день тому
Continuing on our tour of Ladakh after a day’s rest at Pangong, we set off for our next base Hanle. Since there were no fuel stations at Hanle, we planned to take a slight detour to Nyoma to fuel up before reaching Hanle. But as fate would have it Google maps took us along an entirely different route from Chushul and we missed the Rezang La War memorial. But we were rewarded by the picturesque ...

A first timer's motorcycle tour of Ladakh- Road to Pangong Tso

After returning from Thang village on the border, it was too late to visit the Diksit monastery. So, we decided to visit it on our way to Pangong Tso. The regular road was closed for repairs, so we had to take the old road along the Shyok River. That portion of around 30 km was mostly off-road and included a couple of water crossings. The camera ran out of battery, and we were too busy negotiat...

It's 10 September 2024 - our second day of riding. We had checked in our hotel yesterday at Hunder. The plan today is to visit Thang, a village on the Indo-Pakistan border and also visit the Diksit monastery on our way back. This area has become Indian territory during the 1971 war and has remained so since.

This video is in continuation of my previous video from Khardung La to our destination for the day, Hunder in the Nubra Valley. The green valleys of the rivers Shyok and Nubra were in stark contrast to the dusty, dry mountains roads after Khardung La.

After reaching Leh we spent two nights acclimatising so as to avoid high altitude sickness. We also went around looking for establishments that hired out motorcycles. We eventually found a reliable one near our hotel. To keep the video short, this part covers our journey from Leh to Khardung La only though, our destination for the day was Hunder in Nubra valley.
A first timer's motorcycle tour of Ladakh - Reaching Leh

This video is on the first leg of a first timer's tour to Ladakh. My friend Bhaskar Barua and I had registered for a package motorcycle tour of Ladakh- every rider's dream ride. That was a couple of months before the scheduled tour. In full anticipation and excitement we prepared our gear, Bhaskar took leave from work and I, being retired, made sure that all domestic tasks were done. We also bo...

Our first experience of the old silk route. Bukhara, an ancient city that started off as an oasis where the caravans on the Old Silk Route stopped. It gradually turned into a trading center and a melting pot of different cultures. It eventually turned into an Islamic city.

Visiting Ziro Part-2: Road trip
Переглядів 325Рік тому
This covers our road trip from Gogamukh to Ziro, a distance of around 150 km. We started quite late after a heavy breakfast taking time to stop along the way to admire the views to finally reach Ziro around 3pm. Our place of stay was the Powergrid guest house, which was on the other side of Ziro. It took us an hour or so to get there due to the bad road on that part of Ziro. We had no other cho...

Relaxed ride to Meghalaya: Day-3 #meghalaya #motovlog #indianvlogginginenglish
curious who was the company that cancelled on your group ride? I have been talking to one and all of a sudden no more info. I am going in Sept of 2025 and "now" think i may just go solo- thoughts? suggestions? things not to do? How much was the Bike rental? are there many companies in Leh? - thanks for your time and videos
It was India motorbike tours represented by one Sanjeev Kumar. it's not advisable to go solo when it's your first time. The roads are long and lonely, which translates to no helping hand in case of any problem. To avoid mountain sickness, start on diamox and spend a couple of days in Leh scoping for rental bikes, which costs Rs. 1200 to 1500 per day. Ensure that new tyres and tubes are installed also that the bike is serviced properly. An oxygen cannister is also advisable.
@@rider64 thanks for info - were your bikes dependable? how many kilometers/miles did you do? would you recommend the outfit you rented from? - Was September a good time? thanks again
Yes, the old model Himalayans we hired were perfect - no problems in the entire trip of around 1300 km. We covered most of the Ladakh circuit except Zanskar Valley. We plan to do it this September. Yes, I certainly would recommend the outfit we hired from, and yes, September is a good time.
