Wonderful books! I read Braiding Sweetgrass (finally) just this year for a book club and loved it!
@@awebofstories oh my gosh that book is such a gem! I bet it was fantastic for a book club discussion, too. I am super excited for The Serviceberry when that comes out next month!
Just found your channel and love this video! ❤ Interesting picks here. 😊 I'm going to read 'The Woman They Could Not Silence' as one of my NonFiction November books, also by Kate Moore. Very excited for that! I do love the sound of 'How to Hide an Empire' though... I just started a BookTube channel this month, and I'm putting up my own NonFiction November video later today. 'How to Hide an Empire' isn't in my Pile of Possibilities, but I might just need to read it anyway. 😁😎 Subscribed and looking forward to following along with your channel. I think we have some overlapping reading tastes. 😊
@@WildHeartsandWildflowers Aww thank you so much! I have heard such good things about Kate Moore’s books and I really hope you enjoy your reading experience, too. I will definitely have to check out your TBR!
I just found your channel! Looking forward to participating in Nonfiction November. I just watched Olive's announcement video. (I'm a bit behind on my booktube watching!) Now, I need to plan my TBR! Great to connect with you!
@@Michelelynnreads thanks so much for checking out my channel and great to meet you virtually! I hope you have a blast with Nonfiction November. What are you most excited to pick up?
@@themusicsnob A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson about his attempt at the Appalachian Trail. It's a backlist book that I started a few months back, loved, but got distracted!
@@Michelelynnreads ooh that one is very fun! I haven’t read it in a few years, but really enjoyed it when I did 😊
I hope you enjoy Radium Girls. I think I spent most of my time angry for the women 😂 how to Hide an Empire sounds pretty interesting. I can’t wait to hear your full thoughts on it
@@RobinReads that seems super fair to spend the time angry, but that is also good to know so I can plan to be angry at an appropriate time 😂
Glad you enjoyed Buzz Sting Bite. I thought it was a charming bug book.
I remember Heidi talking about that insect book last year (I think) and I made a note of it, then I forgot all about it. So thank you for putting it back on my radar!
I loved The Radium Girls and How To Hide An Empire. Great TBR!
Those are good choices, I've read many of them. I especially recommend The Shock Doctrine. I realized recently that I have many photography books and nonfiction graphic novels on my shelves that still need to be read. I chose my Nonfiction November books from those.
@@evamarina2045 ooh that sounds fun! Nonfiction graphic novels are so excellent
I hope your Blackoween reading is going well!
@@myreadinglife8816 so far, so good! I need to film an update 😊
Hadn’t started thinking about this yet so thanks for the prompt and inspiration
@@BookishAdventuresInWellbeing haha, I think I started too early, but glad it reminded you!
Great list! I've had How to Hide An Empire on my TBR for a really long time - will look for your review!
@@audreyapproved thanks for watching! I am very interested to check that one out
The Other Olympians sounds interesting. I had forgotten about Let's Get Physical. I should add those to my sports list.
I need to read more Courtney Milan. The way We Never Were sounds very interesting. I will keep my eyes open for that.
I feel like these are gonna be some really good reads. I definitely want to hear how you end up feeling about the Rivers Solomon book. I just started seeing it pop up in people’s TBRs
@@RobinReads I am so interested in Model Home! It definitely seems to be a hit of the season, but I haven’t seen any reviews yet
You have some good options I also plan to check out. Delicious Monsters we as def good so let's see how Sanbury Delivers on this one
@@TangibleReads it was so good and I am very interested in Tender Beasts! Happy reading to you 📖
Loving this series! I also enjoyed the Parasol Protectorate series!
@@myreadinglife8816 oh yay! I am glad you’re enjoying this series as I am having fun making it. I need to go back and read more books in that series for sure
1491 sounds incredible, I think I've vaguely seen the cover before but didn't know that it was. Sold! Have you read Four Cities? Seems like some overlap there. Cory Doctorow is so great at thinking and questioning differently than usual, I really need to prioritize reading his backlist. I did not expect Soulless! Have that one on my shelf 🤔
@@ReadBecca ooh, I haven’t read Four Cities, but will definitely check that out! I need to pick up more Cory Doctorow. The way he writes and thinks about our cultural/social experience and technology is super interesting. I hope you enjoy Soulless when you get to it! It just did the genre so well, in my opinion
I looked up a list of books published in that period. I think because I was a teenager in a book club reading mostly classics, I didn't read the commercial books written at the time.
@@TimeTravelReads I definitely can understand that! I also read a lot of these books a few years after they were published because between 2008 and 2012 I wasn’t reading much for fun because of college
Little Brother sounds really interesting. Also Soulless sounds like a nice silly time. I might have to add it to my October reads
@@RobinReads I could see Soulless being so much fun for Halloween season reading
Oohh so many rereads this month. I love it for you! I hope you enjoy all of them as much as you did the first time
@@RobinReads so true! I didn’t realize I was doing that, but I definitely am. Thank you ☺️ I hope your reading month is also excellent
Immediately added Time of My Life to my TBR for this month! Love DD!
@@myreadinglife8816 oh yay! I am so glad I could put it in your radar and I hope you enjoy. Reading that book made me go back and rewatch the movie and it is just so good!
@@themusicsnob I have already listened to it and it was fabulous! I need to rewatch the movie now!
@@myreadinglife8816 oh yay!!
Happening sounds like it could be a really compelling read. Adding to my ever growing TBR! And that’s a really interesting book/movie tie in. I honestly do forget about that aspect of the movie when it comes to mind.
@@RobinReads the TBR never gets smaller, 😂
Excellent recommendations! I too loved the Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants series although I was an adult when I read them. I wish they had been around when I was a preteen.
Great description of The Trees. I agree is is a mix of Crosby and Beatty. I liked Funny Story more than Happy Place, but I totally get what you mean about not treating real world economic conditions realistically.
@@myreadinglife8816 The Trees was great and not necessarily what I expected! I definitely still liked Funny Story and just found myself getting annoyed by the career part. But I also think I liked the actual romance more than Happy Place
Omg Grace I’ve seen the cover for Family Meal and have never read the synopsis. I just decided it was about cannibalism and was interested 😂😂😂 but it sounds really good and I’m still interested lol
@@RobinReads oh my gosh! I can definitely see that, though. Thankfully not about cannibalism 😂
I completely relate to the mid reading vibes + stressful year in general! For me I need to get *back* into reading more so I stop doom scrolling the news so much. It's just not productive at a certain point. Also, I like the idea of breaking up with Goodreads... hmm...
Love this analysis! I also find it weird when romance books have cartoony covers and the content is very sexy times inside. It feels misleading!
@@myreadinglife8816 it does! I am glad I am not alone, haha
Ex Hex is on my shelf! Looking at the cover makes me think of the Bewitched theme song, totally!
@@MargaretPinard absolutely! I think it hits the mark with those vibes
Celestine and Kati, new authors, here I come! lol Great thoughts expressed! Xx
@@MargaretPinard thank you! They are very fun in very different ways lol
Relatable feelings on your assessment of this year both in reading and life, this year can just chill out already! I'm hoping to read Mimicking this weekend! Absolutely loved An Unkindness of Ghosts, but I would say very emotionally heavy if you need to prepare the space for that.
@@ReadBecca hahah, if only it would chill out, I would appreciate that! Thanks for the heads up on An Unkindness of Ghosts. Also now I have to pick up Mimicking so we can chat about it in comments!
Omggg a cat coat?! I love that so much. I hope you share it once you’re done. Putting a limit on the reading so you have time for other interests is such a good idea. I feel like I don’t have time for other things because I think I need to be reading haha
Haha I will definitely share what I make…whether it comes out good or not lol 😅 I definitely know what you mean about feeling pressure to read more! It’s such a wild thing…productivity culture gets you everywhere you go
Love your well thought out ideas on a reset. I need to do this when we get back from vacation. Hope we get to see the kitty coat later this year. 😻
@@alldbooks9165 thank you! I am trying to be practical during impractical and overwhelming times. I wish you luck resetting when you get back to your routine. I think I will try to vlog some of the kitty coat-making for fun
I have had All Boys Aren’t Blue on my wishlist for awhile. Need to get to it.
@@myreadinglife8816 it was so good and a really quick read because it is so accessibly written! I am really interested to read their new nonfiction book on the queer Harlem renaissance that is coming out soon
You talked about All Boys Aren't Blue so insightfully, it can be such a difficult thing to get across the negative takes on a thing objectively. Bummer about Horror Movie, it seems like the theme is booming right now with new releases tho so I will probably skip it from your thoughts and try others that came out lately.
@@ReadBecca that’s really nice of you to say that came off objectively to you, haha. I don’t always feel super objective because I feel so strongly about book banning! Yeah, Horror Movie wasn’t bad, but I really liked The Pallbearer’s Club and felt like it did the same thing better for me, if that makes sense
Noooo the slap! I was so ready to add that book to my tbr. So unnecessary! Man that book ban stuff is just so depressing
@@SamusStories yeah, truly unnecessary to have that slap. It killed the vibes. Also, the banning is ridiculous! I hope that it is backfiring and just encouraging more people to read the books 📚
I’ve added January Fifteenth to my wish list. Sounds really interesting. Great bunch of books you read!
So many great books read! I really need to get to Angela Davis. Swirsky had a Nebula winning short If You Were a Dinosaur My Love that is incredible if you haven't read it, but I would say read when you have room for emotions if you do.
Oooh good to know about Swirsky’s story!! Angela Davis is so excellent and well worth reading everything I have read by her
I was rooting for Kiss and Spell. 😊 i immediately laughed when u showed Chuck Tingle.
@@TangibleReads I am super excited for Kiss and Spell eventually 💜 Chuck Tingle is too good!
I'm so glad you liked The Chosen and the Beautiful -- and my Gatsby video lol. I was also obsessed with Detransition Baby when I read it! Sounds like you had a great reading month :)
@@moonyreadsbystarlight you did a great job with that video! Overall, a really good month
This is a STACKED tbr!!! I loved Our Wives, so thoughtful and strange. Sheine, And Then She Fell and Parable of the Shower are all books I want to get to this year, and probably One of Us Know.... Or just all of them 😂
@@ReadBecca thank you!! I am pumped about the books on this TBR! I definitely want to read all of them soon
Ooh I can’t wait to see what you end up reading for July Noir and summerween!!
Thanks for joining us ❤🌈📚
@@KathyTrithardt thank you for hosting the QLR! It is always so fun to participate
@@themusicsnob 😊😊😊😊 you're welcome!
As I loved disability invisibility, and I really want to get myself a copy of disability intimacy as well because I have been seeing a lot of conversations around this subject and would love to read on it more too. Ooh, I have the haunting of alejandra waiting for me on my shelf and your review of it makes me want to prioritise it a bit more. Because it sounds fun, but also like it touches on themes of motherhood and culture too. I really liked the tea dragon society by K O'Neill and it sounds like the moth keeper is another nice one from them!
@@OliviasCatastrophe The Haunting of Alejandra really worked for me and it was a good, creepy time. I hope you enjoy everything you pick up!
I love that you loved the Broken Earth trilogy!! It’s so good. And now I’m definitely adding a few more books to my TBR 😂
@@RobinReads it was so excellent! I don’t know where to go next with N.K. Jemisin because I want to savor her books, but also that trilogy was just so good
This is one of my fav months to read spooky stuff
Darcie Little Badger :)
I am in the middle of one of us knows!
@@LocDBooktician me too!! I love summer for horror
@@LocDBooktician ooh I am so interested to hear what you think of it
I really enjoyed your answers to these questions. Love that LOTR box set. I need to upgrade in that area.
@@myreadinglife8816 it was a good investment for sure! I know I will be reading those books over and over for the rest of my life
Everything I Never Told You is one of my all time favorite books! I hope you enjoy ☺️🫶 Horror Movie is my book club’s book of the month 👀 so excited to see how that turns out Unfortunately I wasn’t the biggest fan of Nightbitch but I think I’m in the minority there! Hopefully you’ll be a bigger fan than I was
@@marginsofmarisa thank you!! I ended up reading Horror Movie and I liked it and would recommend it if you liked The Pallbearer’s Club 😊
@@themusicsnob I actually haven’t read The Pallbearer’s Club yet! So we’ll see 🤷♀️🤞
I love how all over the types of books you picked are! I keep putting off Broken Earth, I need to get to it never enough time, but Jemisen is so imaginative and thoughtful. Woah that cover for the new Jordan Ifueko! Stunning.
@@ReadBecca i definitely picked books that are all over the place and yes that cover is gorgeous
This was excellent, you mentioned so many books that I didn't know about but am now very interested in reading. Thanks ;)
@@Bryndisdaugtherofgunnar that’s awesome! I am so glad and hope you enjoy ☺️
Great tag...I've had Detransition Baby on my TBR for a few years. It's been a possibility for one of my book clubs, so I have been waiting to see if it gets chosen, but I've waiting for a long time!
@@awebofstories whenever you get to it, I hope you enjoy it! I do think it would be great for a book club because there is a lot to discuss and dig into
