    I love the cinematography and music of the 1st movie. And I was enthralled by the story and it's what got me hooked on the show. I also deeply love the character stories and the English dub. 2nd film is a little disappointing.... The destruction of the labors made me think wtf.... .. Not seen the 3rd. .. I've been looking for a copy of the Ova and the TV series for ages. To no avail.

    The next generation Patlabor (drama) is remake of Early days OVA in contemporary setting. Members are the 3rd generation of SV2, And veeeeery similar to "Glorious" 1st generation members, though Kanuka(American) became Kasha(Russian). Oh, Shiba became a boss of engineer team, and Shiba`s voice actor do same line like "When I was young, I slept on the cold steel!!" lol. It even has crocodile dungeon episode, so If you are a fan of Early days OVA and it would be good. TNG patlabor the movie is... the remake of ... (drum roll) Patlabor 2 the movie but this time with stelath helicopter! Yeah.

    FINALLY! Somebody whose knowledge of mecha doesn't just boil down to "uhh it's Eva... I guess" and then ratting off tons of misinformation or vague guesses about the genre. I'm not that big on the realism but Patlabor is great and a must-watch. Also, Noa is a treat for every Tomboy lover.

    Once school is done at the end of May, I will binge the hell out of any Patlabor Manga/Anime I can find. I just love this series so much because of how different it feels most of the time.

    Wow you guys loved this one alright, Thank you all so much!! Videos like this take a lot of time, writing, editing, and research, so I'm glad to see it pop off so hard in the last year. I hope to make more like this and I am currently working on them, but I would very much prefer to do it un-sponsored and without youtube's ad bullshit constantly ruining the experience for everyone. So please feel free to use ad-blocker, I am not getting money from them in anyway. If you WOULD like to help fund these videos, please feel free to do so through my Patreaon: www.patreon.com/luckyonce I hope you all look forward to more videos in the future! See you all then!

    Since you mentioned venting I want to have my turn. I didn't really enjoy the Patlabor OVA. I loved the first 2 films. Especially the 2nd one. I didn't like the goofy nature and for me the slapstick didn't resonate much, it was just a bit too much for me. However I think that is just a taste difference. I HATE the effects of Evangelion on the mecha genre. Evangelion has no right to be as influential as it is. Pre-Evangelion mecha deconstructions in the form of Gundam War in the Pocket are much better as mecha deconstructions. NGE is not bad, but it isn't the greatest anime, I would say far from it. I think Gundam (the original series) handels teenagers in robots better. Patlabor is neat however and it would be nice to see more of it exploring the police aspect.

    Funny, while I can see where the two OVAs can be superior to the TV in some regards, I've always like the TV show better, perhaps for it was introduction to Patlabor just watching the Latin American broadcast of Fox Kids, and seeing the commercials that the show was coming and like the design on the Ingram, (looked similar to Tekkaman Blade aka Technoman which I like already) and saw the movies and OVAs a few years later. And like the more comedy driven angle at times, kind of middle ground or mix of Gundam with the Police Academy movies. And liked the flying Griffon over aquatic version. And teh TV and OVA version of the AV-0 Peace Maker over the one on the 1st movie.

    When was 11 in 2005 my uncle gave me all 3 films after a trip to another state he found them for cheap. The first movie knew what it was, the second was going for a new vibe, but the third was and will always be trash. Why wasn't it's own thing without patlaber. It wasted its potential being a a movie.

    This basically did nothing to satisfy the answer of 'most realistic mecha anime', unless the idea of the most realistic anime is a clip that doesn't include mechs at all which does have a place in realism.

    28:00 EVA ain't mecha just saying ;) they are flesh and blood beings. Kinda feel they are based of the Nephilim from the Torah and bible.

    • @luckyonce
      @luckyonce Рік тому

      The original concept of a robot was a humanoid being with flesh and blood that was grown in vats and used as slave labor from the play Rossum's Universal Robots. But for some odd reason, Nephilim1977, I feel you might have a bias to the fact that they could be Nephilim, so you can keep believing that and I won't judge you bud.
