I hope this battery tech will be cost competitive for grid storage. Direct air capture - is currently so stupidly expensive. Ballpark it is around 700-800/ton. That's the raw cost. But if you run those plants using electricity pulled from the US grid - the 1.2 MWH needed to remove a ton of co2 - adds a half ton of co2 back into the air. So the true cost of DAC per "net" ton of co2 removed is 1,400 - 1,600 dollars. While DAC company CEO's talk about driving their costs down to $100/ton (which would actually be $200/net ton), they never explain HOW
