CORRECTION I stated that the taxi in Japan is 50,000 yen in my video, that was a mistake it should be 5,000 yen!! ALSO Japan has a right hand side steering wheel but drives on the LEFT SIDE! I'm sorry for my mistakes!! Japan opened its borders for international travelers after being closed for nearly two years due to Covid-19. I recently went on a trip in Osaka, Japan (my first time!) and wante...

Sometimes it can be cheaper to fly to other European countries on the way than to travel directly to a single European country. Europe is expensive so I'd say you did well! Just wondering what size backpack did you take on this trip and anything you would recommend?

My son wants to do this trip. He hasn't been able to go out with young people because he went off to college in 2020 and it didn't work out so he came home to do community college. He's 22 and wants to go on one of these trips. It seems like there are a lot of girls though.

tip for travel insurance! I almost got extra travel insurance but I realized my credit card (american express), which is a travel card, includes travel insurance with my card for 14 days of travel! so always chcek with any of your credit cards to see if they already cover travel insurance - could easily save you 90CAD!

Omg I was literally about to book this exact trip, but was apprehensive about the cost and the long travel in between. Was the 10 hour bus/train ride overnight? or do you lose daylight to travel?

    • @Maddie-rv6sp

I just did this trip. it's not overnight. you wake up super early at like 5:00am, and you still arrive around 3pm so u still get a ton of time to get ready for an orientation and a dinner at the end, it really wasn't that bad

im going to japan soon and im not sure if i should be getting the JR Rail Pass. Im heading to Tokyo, then Nagoya > Kyoto > Osaka with a day trip to Nara somewhere in between. I’ve read that the JR Pass is worth the money for round trips, but since I won’t be making any, would buying tickets at the station be a cheaper way to travel?

One of the most useful things I think I did before I went was setting up a Suica card (equivalent to the ICOCA or Pasmo) through Apple Pay/Apple Wallet. You can recharge it through your phone instead of having to wait at kiosks in stations. There are a couple instances where you need a physical card instead but for the most part it was super convenient to be able to tap my phone at station entrances, convenience stores, and even some vending machines! If you have an iPhone I would recommend doing this for anyone traveling soon.
