    Thank you for the video. I have never felt bad a coach my 11 year old soccer daughter has played. My daughter has always been told the same thing. Be more aggressive and learn you positions. My daughter doesnt want to do that on ger time off. This sport is very expensive and time consuming. I try to push towards getting better, and learning how to work hard. It would be great for ger to make it to a higher level club and beyond high school. She would rather draw or look at YT on her time off or read books. I only ask that she puts in 15 minutes a day....15. More would be cool 😊but. Anyway, she just does not have the drive and it ends up in her not being comfortable in games. How do i get her to understand her responsibility to her teammates? Thanks.

    • @cruelsun9243
      @cruelsun9243 3 місяці тому

      @nikkionyx1926 She's been playing since 5. 12 now, and she says she 'likes' it. 'Like' is not acceptable for 2100 dollars plus gear, driving, or flying m, and you're just satisfied making the team and not trying to move up because you really don't want to work hard. Moving to a different sport would be the same. We are going to try it for one more year and if she isn't trying to do more we can find something else.

    We use the wrestling mindset metaphor of predator vs prey. Eyes on the front line to hunt, eyes on the side like to hide. Predatory animals like lions tigers and bears have their eyes facing forward. When we are trying to focus up, our refocus after a mistake, or even when the energy in the practice room isn’t right we say “eyes front,” point at our eyes, and make a predator glare.

    Americans will believe anything you tell them. I don't blame these hustlers. If these clowns will give away their money so their kids can chase a ball like a dog, then take it all if you can. The parents have no net worth anyway. A fool and his money will soon be parted.

    Great, common sense advice here. It's unfortunate you have to tell people this stuff, but better said than unsaid. Especially like your views on avoiding specialization. Playing different sports throughout the year exposes kids to different skill sets and helps them hone their competitive instincts.

    My son is doing gymnastics( he is 8), he got a severe ankle sprain, he came back practicing after a month of wearing a cast but still should take it easy(as his doctorsaid), but his coach pushing him to use his leg as normal as he used to, even after my son complaining about his pain( and his ankle still has swelling), his coach even punishes him by asking him to do sit ups (or whatever it called). My heart is hurting by watching it, what to do?

    Great video… I think it all varies and where we live that factor into it as well. Being in Colorado especially now with no Rec sports available and budget cuts on middle schools. You pretty much have to look to club sports to develop your kids at a younger age. My personal experience sports here didn’t have the level of competition for softball for Joz at 10. So we committed to comp ball for her until after her senior year. I now do see how kids get burnt out on sports as she had maybe 3 weeks of personal time to herself once hitting high school and choosing academics over sports scholarships. But for basketball with my 2nd daughter Josie who’s facing the same situation with middle school was to develop her and grow her more to when she could play high school ball she would be more prepared to make the freshmen team if not higher. To be continued on that statement…..

    As a coach, I have seen ultra competitive athletes go through much of this. They get sooo upset that they are missing out on competitions that they lie about how well they are doing before they are ready to come back. Which obviously often leads to making the situations worse.

  • @christopherwhite9671

    The nice thing is, coaches can use many of these to motivate their players as well.

  • @sierra6540
    @sierra6540 3 роки тому

    Agree with 98% of what you said. Unfortunately, kids can not wait until freshman year to specialize. The game will pass them by and they will never play at even a varsity or JV level. They feel behind the curve, because they are. Have this scenario dozens of times.

    • @trainwithperc7009
      @trainwithperc7009 3 роки тому

      I fundamentally disagree. Kids should focus on developing as athletes because athletes get the opportunities. Athleticism is key.

    • @sierra6540
      @sierra6540 3 роки тому

      @@trainwithperc7009 you can tell that to athletes who’s career is cut short at 8th grade, that could of played and excelled but was behind other players who focused their efforts. I get what you’re saying but that isn’t reality anymore

    The video is great, as well as the topic. But there is always an "but". The problem with this topic is that these two personalities do not receive equal treatment in the "western" media. It was clear that Djokovic made the statement regarding the pressure and not about his colleague. But that did not stop certain news outlets from completely "reversing" his statement. The "chase" on him continued even after the denial of the journalist who interviewed him. Simona does not have even approximately the "pressure" that Djokovic suffers, so the comparison is unfortunately pointless and unnecessary. But I like the way the presentation is related to this topic.
