DS770 with an Ugly Stick - Trail ride
This is my 2007 DS770, has lots of mods and I am on a trail ride with my open exhaust (OMW Ugly Stick). It Loud and makes a ton of power. I can only run this exhaust in the dunes or early spring at home in BC, Canada. Don't want to risk anything once forest fire season starts !!

This is from today - June 16, 2018 from Crowfoot Mountain in the B.C. Interior. Yes I can still trail ride my DS770 now even with a plus 4" extending Swing Arm. Bike ran great all day. We did run into a bunch of snow and couldn't make it to the top of the mountain due to the snow.

I have a 2004 DS 650 Baja X. I just had the top end rebuilt. When I allow the DS to run at idle or if I ride it, It will pop out the valve cover gasket. I have removed the Oil Tank and all in/outlet are free from obstruction. What could be causing the bike to blow the gasket. The pressure is obviously going over the tolerances for idle and 6000 rpm. Where should I start to diagnose this issue. I have brought this bike to the dealer twice after and have paid the thousand of dollars and still has this issue. What is the best troubleshooting for this before I pull off the crankcase cover to check oil pump rotors. Thanks any help would be great.

Does it run normal otherwise? It has too be something in the timing or fuel mixture. The only that happens is it pushes out the valve cover gasket? Have you checked the breather tube?

Kurt, how did the motor hold up. I want to do mine but you know people always say they are no longer reliable once built like that. I just did high Comp. Piston Ron woods stage 3 cams ports the head and intake , lectron carb with air filter right to the carb. Haven’t rode it yet . Had electrical problem with the Ron woods chi so I took it off and got a different one, just need to test it out, money wise I don’t even want to know what you have in it. Has to be 10 grand or over because just what I did cost out the ass. I have the valves done to and put new ones in it. I did not do was change the way the shims are? Another thousand dollars for that kit so I was going to wait and see if it pukes Out the shim the way it is now. If it does then I will tear Back down and do like you did

really don't have to bleed anything. before you put oil filter back in you need to turn the motor over without it firing up, put red swithch in non firing position and start turning the motor over, at the same time keep a eye on were the oil filter goes and you should see oil weeping out.if u see this your in good shape. this means the oil pump is pumping oil. if you don't see oil this means you have a air pocket in the oil line.don't not start motor up if you don't see oil pumping out of weep hole. if u do your motor will take a shit and die
