Defeating Sparrows, Starlings and Grackles
I wish I lived closer.
Awesome Liz!
Thank you Lisa!🎄
Which sparrow sings the pretty song? The white throated or white crowned?
Hi Liz!
Awesome stuff Liz. Thank you
Thank you Liz❤
I wish I lived closer
Thank you❤
Great video thank you
Thanks Liz❤
Thanks so much Liz for the great information. Will be on the lookout for SLF and LDD egg masses! ❤🐦
I just saw my bluebird family for the first time yesterday. My feeding area gets so busy in the Summer and since they don't really need the food during those months, I never see them at feeders until Fall. I think they were checking to make sure that the restaurant was open and the vacationers had gone home 🤣Now comes the game of trying to feed the bluebirds without the starlings getting it all. Last year I bought a couple of caged feeders for that purpose but so far they have yet to go in for food. I may have to make an opening or too larger but they don't seem to have even tried.
I love these videos
So Birds like spicy seeds and the squirrels don't?
I don’t even have a backyard and I found this entire video fascinating.
Beautiful gifts!
😍😍😍😍😍😍😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😁😁🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 ty
I think you meant to say southeast
I did notice an absence of our usual song birds in the last few weeks, as you noted Liz, I did see a big Cooper's hawk twice in my backyard. However, today I saw a bunch of sparrows and finches in my bird bath. I'm so glad they are back! I also over our saw some blue birds too. I also saw a great blue heron flying over our neighborhood pond. Thank you Liz for explaining the absence of our smaller song birds.
I'm sick of these Dem political ads on every kind of video that I enjoy as a conservative! It leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. Stop it, UA-cam! We will NOT forget the last four years just because you show an ad lying about what your party will do for America. We've SEEN what you do!
Seen a Wooly crossing the country road by my house and it was all brown. I'd hate to know how much snow that means this winter.
Wow the butterflies are missing out! You did a fantastic job growing all of there favorite plants! I’m impressed. I have a small milkweed growing slowly I might add, and dill seedlings. Any tips for growing dill? They are so skinny and flop over .
I've missed you "Live" again...(!) Maybe next time, thanks for these...

We use stove pipe baffles with great success.
Rochester is a little far (!) from Pickering Ontario for dropping in, but thank you very much for some interesting tips! It’s late August 2024 now, and the wasps are harassing the heck out of all our orioles as they try to fatten up for the trip south. We use jelly in glass bowls, so it’s a challenge. Cheers
I do too have a small space but I plant everything I put vegetables in pots and milk crates lots of sunflowers and I planted a fruitcocktail tree in a large pot a got 17 peaches off the tree this year 😊 and plant herbs like basil bell peppers in flower pots i try to plant something new every year this year a grew Roselle plants it's a beautiful plant and it's in a large flower pot happy growing from my small patio garden
Love it ❤😊
I see many Swallowtail butterflies in my tree filled backyard.
We now see lots of Lightning Bugs, in July, in our suburban yards. And I’ve noticed a lot Less neighbors use a Yard Spray service, than 10 yrs ago.
Groovy. 🌻🌻🌻
My bluebirds had managed to have four eggs in their house. In the middle of a night a culprit came I don't know if it's a raccoon or a squirrel but it took every one of the eggs and Mom and Dad took off and haven't been back. Any suggestions on how I can get them back and have more eggs. My location is just outside 275 East and 71 South in the Cincinnati Ohio area.
Hi Liz, disregard the last comment. The Mom just showed up and the babies are happy. 😊
Hey Liz, need your help. I have a bluebird house with 5 baby house wrens who are apparently very hungry. No parent seen or heard today. It’s now 8:00 pm. My wife said she found a deceased bird farther back in the yard today. Should I feed them some mealworms or call someone? I am in Syracuse. Thanks
I just want to say this was wonderful ❤ I’ve been feeding the birds for the past two years and I watch them gather around the feeders every morning.and it’s so rewarding. I’ve been wanting to do more and this has not only given me great ideas, it has inspired me. Thank you for sharing 😊
beginner info
What was the night raider at about 2:43??
From our yard in Nashua NH - orioles, goldfinch, purple finch, doves, cardinals, catbirds, titmice, chickadees, robins, wrens, swifts, woodpeckers, sparrows, hawks - wish I knew where our hummingbirds are - we usually see them - not yet though!
My birds wont eat safflower seeds
Don’t people know not to call during the show, lol
I live in Illinois and was wondering if the emergence of the two broods of cicadas at the same (hasn't happened since 1803) will have any effect on the bird population? Will that increase the broods birds will have? Will they have more babies in each brood? Thanks
I have an eastern phoebe, bluebirds and a house wren in my nesting boxes. The bluebird babies left the nest last night. So exciting
Our fledgling, Fonzi, from the first clutch is helping Mario & Matilda feed the just fledged second clutch of Beautiful Eastern Bluebirds! Such amazing Natives!
In a backyard suburban home, what do you suggest to put under the feeders to keep it clean? I live in a suburb of Kansas City MO. I love your videos!!
Hi Janet, I've used a product called Seed & Hull Digester, it's enzymatic and cleans up seed hulls and bacteria. Happy Birding!
@@bélalugrisi I am currently using a no waste seed, and I’ve tried rock and mulch but it creates a huge clumpy mess. Right now I’ve put down landscape weed barrier and will plan on using the shop vac when it seems all the ‘seeds’ have been devoured. I would leave it as dirt only but I have a small dog that likes to walk thru there and I don’t want mud on her feet.
@@janetmilone4961 Eliminating the bacteria from droppings is important. Best to you and your feathered fruiends~
I spend a lot of time in Rochester and my biggest regret is having to leave in March, just before Spring migration when I could see some of these beautiful warblers. I've seen many of them, but not in their full breeding plumage because I lived in Central Florida when they pass through in the Fall, and I still need blackpoll, cerulean, golden winged, mourning and Canada warblera for my life list.
Love all the birds and rats and squirrels and foxes. I can’t imagine ‘defeating’ any.
I had an orchard oriole at my hummingbird feeder. I’m in Lee’s Summit MO. Love your videos!
I was watering the lawn late Sunday afternoon and had a little visitor. While some little winged insects took flight, I noticed a blue bird 8 feet away. I watered near it, it hopped near the water looked at me pulled a insect or worm up and flew away.
trying to get orioles back! in mid/upper NY, had them last year and they loved grape jelly. got a new feeder with nectar/orange/jelly. will add some mealworms too! Much love
