Buy an EV, buy trouble. Now it is recommended not to charge an EV at night. Rather, charge it in the middle of the day. Where are you going to do that? Are you going to leave it parked for 4-5 hours while at work? Maybe the charging station will tow your EV to an impound lot.

I am an electrical engineer with some experience with automobile technology. I did my own research and spoke with a number of knowledgeable people who have EV experience. For myself, I determined the Ariya when disregarding the price would be the best bet for compromise between performance, range, and ergonomics even though it may be on the expensive side when comparing to many of the others. With any type of product there will be some pros and cons between them. You have to weigh in what your priorities are with the product. I looked at overall performance, the design of the display panels, comfort, and range. There are EVs out there that have a higher wattage charging rate, but most of the time charging will be done at a lower rate than the maximum rate capability for any of these vehicles. Most home chargers will be in the range of 7.5KW, and most of the larger wattage chargers out on the road will not be in the maximum level range of the Ariya, or any of the others. With any type of vehicle or EV, since I live in an area that has severe winters and icy roads I would go with the AWD type and the extended range. I plan to use the EV mainly for local commutes around the city. At the Nissan dealer I use, I put in an order for an Ariya Platinum e-4ORCE AWD with the extended battery range. I presently have a 2022 Pathfinder Platinum 4WD that I am planning to keep for a few more years.
