EXPLORE The HIDDEN GEM of Bear Valley Dam 4K
EXPLORE The HIDDEN GEM of Bear Valley Dam in 1909, the Bear Valley Mutual Water Company accepted John Eastwood’s design for a new dam at Big Bear Lake to replace the original rock dam that had been built in 1885. Eastwood’s unique design called for an all-concrete structure without any rock or dirt fill. Eleven concrete buttresses would be built across the gorge about 35 feet apart and about 50 yards downstream from the existing rock dam. Between each of the buttresses a concrete arch would be built. In essence Big Bear would have ten smaller but stronger arch dams across the valley instead of one large one.

The Art/Scultures on the fron of the budiling really caught my eye!! Hippocratic theory - Hippocrates, On the Sacred Disease (epilepsy) Hippocrates is credited as the first person to believe that diseases were caused naturally, not because of superstition and gods. Galen - father of Western medicine. John Hunter - understanding of blood, inflammation, gunshot wounds, venereal disease, and more - Very cool information
Thank you 🙏🏼🌹

Whenever I go on a walk like this through the wilderness, I'd like to "pack heat". I know there are coyotes and foxes lurking as I live in Chatsworth. I've seen them every so often during nighttime, even during the daytime. I've read there are also mountain lions, but I have yet to see one.
@@williamwatson4625 I think that you needed to carry some heat when you go to this type of settings I only have a bear spray lol
Redondo Beach had a similar port around the same timeframe. It was also dismantled because of San Pedro. The remaining rock section is still intact. Just below sphire street
@@devengudinas1649 so cool
I’ll take a look into it probably for future video 😮
That's probably the original wooden pole because it's so weathered and it as the climbing spikes going up the side which a newer pole wouldn't have.
Our probably they put the sides after later time but the original is there for sure
Without looking up the history, I think the streetcar line in the pictures is the narrow gauge Los Angeles Railway ("Yellow Cars"), not the Pacific Electric. PE cars are always dark in photos and old movies, being the "Red Cars."
This might be the first pole for the municipal system, but Southern California Edison was the first big electric company in Los Angeles. For a while, the Dept. of Water & Power and SCE competed with each other, street by street, until SCE sold its distribution system the city of Los Angeles in 1922. It's one of the interesting stories about municipal electricity in the U.S.
super cool
I like your videos Donatello, im proud 2B ur T0

Interesting history

I have been to his grave in Orange County. He was a brave person.
Yea, when I was making this, I saw that a lot of UA-camrs don’t make videos about landmarks like this. I try to focus on more specific places or rare landmarks alike.
The tar pits is one of the good places to go for the kids can’t take like an hour and a half to go to entire museum
I love this video thank you
