drawing the highlands of Scotland 🏴 | sketchbook travel vlog
My mom came and visited me in Glasgow this last week and we spent a few days travelling through the highlands with her, my boyfriend, and my trusty sketchbook. We visited the Glenfinnan Viaduct, Glencoe, Three Sisters, Skye, Loch Ness, and Inverness! We drove through the highlands in a tiny campervan and made it safely back to Glasgow at the end of the week. I finished the last few pages of my sketchbook using markers, colored pencils, and pens, which I share in a sketchbook tour at the end of the video!

Awesome description of what you’re doing and why; any advice for doing it on fabric? Types of ink to use?
Hi! You can use specific fabric inks that are made for textiles. One tip is to heat set your ink with an iron, heat press, or dryer before you wash
where did you live whilst studying, how much was your rent and did you work?
hey! I have my own flat with my bf and kitty : ) Luckily I've been able to work on my student visa, otherwise my savings from my old job would've ran out quite quickly.

You’ve done reduction printing without telling your audience that’s what you are doing. That’s really not a basic (beginner) linocut technique.
What’s reduction printing?
Hi! Reduction printing is when you use the same linoleum block for all your layers. Each layer you cut a little bit away from the block to print in a new color and leave the carved parts their previous color.

I love this so much!! How are you finding Glasgow?? I’m trying to decide whether I should commit to Glasgow school of art or Falmouth uni for textile design- I’d love any advice lol
Hi! Glasgow is a great art city! My postgrad program is pretty independent, so I find myself making opportunities for myself rather than relying on the school. I’ll be heading back to the US after I finish though, Glasgow is not for me long-term 🤷♂️ Good luck!

Wouldn’t it be better to make a block for each layer so you can produce them until it wears out?
That’s a great way of reusing your blocks! I only had the one to work with for this project, so I made it work for two layers :)
